Lethal Is Back: Joel Lewis
Seeks Revenge At Thunderdome 55!
(August 18th) Perth fight fans are in for another explosive night when Dragon Fire Boxing returns to Metro City Arena on August 28 for the 55th edition of the iconic Thunderdome Series.
One of the card’s most anticipated matchups will see local fan favourite Joel “Lethal” Lewis (8-1) return to the ring for a highly anticipated rematch with “White Fang” Weifang Li.
“White Fang” Weifang Li stands in the way as Lewis looks to settle the score at Thunderdome 55.
The stakes are personal.
Lewis was riding a four-fight knockout streak heading into their first encounter on May 29, but the contest ended in a controversial draw — leaving both fighters convinced they have unfinished business.
Now, on August 28, there will be nowhere to hide.
“He has no idea what’s coming”
Lewis believes the first fight revealed plenty — and he intends to make sure the rematch looks very different.
“First of all, I think he has no idea what’s coming August 28th. He’s a clean fighter, but I allowed him to look better than he is last time.”
With the disappointment of the draw still fresh, Lewis has spent his preparation making sure he is ready for whatever Li brings.
Lewis says his preparation has been exceptional, with quality work coming from both New South Wales and Western Australia.
“Training’s been exceptional. I’ve got to experience the best of both worlds, elite work over in NSW with H, Angelo Hyder, as well as incredible training here in WA with Big Rig, Dayle Phillips.”
That combination has Lewis feeling confident heading into the biggest rematch of his career.
And while Lewis is pleased with his progress, he knows the job isn't finished.
“It’s a good feeling, but it’s only a minor milestone with what’s to come.”
“YOU BETTER BE MORE THAN READY”
There is no shortage of confidence from Lewis ahead of August 28.
His message to Li is simple: “You better be more than ready because I’ll be coming in hot.”
controversial draw in May, both men have vowed to settle the score, making this one of the most intriguing fights on the Thunderdome 55 card.
For Lewis, however, there is another group he wants to repay — his supporters.
“Thanks to all my fans for always showing love and support. I won’t let yous down this time.”
