(June 5th) It has been reported Irish boxing legend Katie Taylor will face undefeated French challenger Flora Pili in her final professional fight on Saturday, September 5th, 2026, at Croke Park in Dublin, Matchroom Boxing officially announced today. The bout marks Taylor's farewell from the sport and offers the 39-year-old champion the opportunity to become undisputed super lightweight champion for the third time in her storied career.

Taylor, who holds the IBF, WBA, and WBO super lightweight titles at 140 pounds, will compete for the vacant WBC super lightweight title against Pili, 12-0, 2Ko’s. The 28-year-old French fighter from Moselle is the mandatory challenger for Taylor's IBF title and the top-ranked contender for the WBC belt, which is currently vacant due to champion Sandy Ryan being designated "Champion in Recess" amid her pregnancy. This matchup means Taylor has the chance to unify all four major belts in her final fight.

Taylor announced her retirement from boxing on February 24, 2026, after a 20-year professional career spanning 26 fights, 25-1, 6Ko’s. The London 2012 Olympic Gold Medalist became a two-weight undisputed world champion, reigning as undisputed lightweight champion from 2019–2024 and currently holding undisputed super lightweight status. She completed her trilogy against Amanda Serrano with three victories, the final occurring at Madison Square Garden in July 2025 on Netflix. As of September 2025, Taylor is ranked as the world's best pound-for-pound female boxer by The Ring.

Flora Pili's path to this historic bout began with the French Championship, followed by the European Championship, then the WBO Intercontinental super lightweight belt (retained in spring 2025), culminating in her IBO World Super Lightweight title victory over Jelena Janićijević on December 5, 2025, in Saint-Avold, France. At 28 years old, Pili is 11 years younger than Taylor and enters the fight as a "huge underdog" despite being a "legitimate title contender" and reigning IBO champion. This represents her first world title and entry into the "big league" of elite boxing.

This bout marks the first boxing event at Croke Park since Muhammad Ali fought there in 1972, defeating Alvin Levis in a non-title match. Taylor has described fighting at Croke Park as an "absolute dream" and "the icing on the cake" for her career. Promoter Eddie Hearn and Matchroom Boxing will formally unveil the event at a press conference at the national stadium on Friday, June 5, 2026.

"If it doesn't happen, there are plenty of options," Taylor told RTE regarding Croke Park, "but it is top of the list." The venue has faced numerous delays due to negotiations with the Gaelic Athletic Association, which oversees the stadium.
