The 31-year-old brings an unbeaten 17-0-1 record with nine knockouts and significantly greater professional experience, having completed more than 100 professional rounds while capturing and defending the IBF Pan Pacific Super Welterweight Championship.

Known for his disciplined fundamentals, sharp jab, ring IQ and durability, Mahoney has quietly built one of Australia's strongest resumes at 154 pounds. Although many fans remember his devastating 2020 victory over Benjamin Hussain that resulted in a broken jaw and international attention, Mahoney's success has been built on years of consistently defeating quality domestic and international opposition. Fighting in front of his hometown supporters on the Gold Coast gives him an added advantage as he looks to produce the biggest victory of his career.

The matchup carries compelling storylines beyond the rankings. Mahoney previously served as a sparring partner during Tim Tszyu's training camps, while Nikita has openly described Mahoney as "probably the most technical fighter I've ever had to face."
