Matchroom Boxing Moves Saturday, August 22nd
George Liddard vs Dario Morello
Event To Copper Box Arena, London!
(August 14th) Matchroom Boxing’s upcoming London show next Saturday, August 22, headlined by George Liddard vs Dario Morello for the vacant EBU European Middleweight Title, will now be staged at the Copper Box Arena in London – broadcast live worldwide on DAZN.
The decision comes following temporary issues with York Hall which means it is no longer a viable venue.
Matchroom Boxing extends its thanks to Greenwich Leisure Limited (GLL), who operates the Copper Box Arena on behalf of the London Legacy Development Corporation (LLDC).
Further ticket news, including details of additional tickets, will be released on Monday with all prior purchases retaining their tickets.
George Liddard will now challenge Italy’s Dario Morello for the vacant EBU European Middleweight Title at the Copper Box Arena in London next Saturday, August 22, live worldwide on DAZN.
The unbeaten Liddard, 14–0 with eight knockouts, enters the biggest fight of his professional career looking to add the European championship to the British title he retained against Tyler Denny in March. The Londoner previously won the British and Commonwealth belts with a late stoppage of Kieron Conway at York Hall in October.
Morello, 26–1 with four knockouts, travels from Italy to meet Liddard in a pivotal contest for the European crown.
Liddard said: “Expect a vicious and dominant performance for as long as it lasts. I’m looking forward to picking up another major title and taking another huge step towards becoming a world champion.”
The August 22 show was originally scheduled for York Hall but has moved to the Copper Box Arena because of temporary issues that left York Hall unavailable. Existing ticket purchases remain valid, and Matchroom has said further ticket information, including the release of additional tickets, will be issued separately.

About Matchroom Boxing
After the success of snooker in the 1980s, Matchroom Sport moved into boxing with two small hall shows followed by Frank Bruno v Joe Bugner at Tottenham Hotspur’s ground – the biggest boxing event of 1987. That launched the company into the boxing big-time, a position it has maintained ever since.
Through the 1990s Matchroom Sport’s boxing roster featured many of the biggest names in the sport including Lennox Lewis, Nigel Benn, Chris Eubank, Steve Collins and Naseem Hamed, all in world title fights and it continues to work with some of the biggest names in UK boxing including Audley Harrison, the 2000 Olympic Super-Heavyweight gold medalist.
Over the years, Matchroom Sport has built up long-standing relationships with broadcasters around the world and with the advent of the Prizefighter phenomenon, the company’s boxing division has never been in a stronger position.
From fantastic six round scraps between the sport’s journeymen, up to multi-million-dollar World Championship contests featuring the above fighters, the Pro Box series has it all. Each show is packed with the very best in boxing action in a series that encompasses almost 25 years of Matchroom Sport’s commitment to bringing the highest quality to the global television market.
