(August 7th) BKB Bare Knuckle Boxing, the world's largest professional bare knuckle boxing organization, today confirmed that Robert Duran Jr., son of four-division world champion Roberto Duran, will return to the Trigon in his hometown against Ryan "The Bull From Hull" Spivey at BKB 58 on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at the James L. Knight Center in Miami.

The son of Roberto Duran, widely considered one of the greatest fighters of all time, Duran Jr. has carved out his own path in the sport, turning pro at 29 after only a handful of years training seriously. Fighting out of Miami, the 37-year-old enters the bout with a 3-2 BKB record and a 12-4 professional boxing ledger, and he arrives on a high note, having stopped Austin Spivey by TKO at BKB 53: The Harder They Fall in April.

Ryan Spivey, a five-fight veteran of Bad to the Bone and the promotion's former English Champion, brings a 4-2 bare knuckle record and an unbeaten 1-0 mark since joining BKB, most recently stopping Sam Clarke at BKB 54: Mayhem In Manchester in May. The Hull native has cited Roberto Duran among his own boxing idols growing up, adding another layer of intrigue to about that will see him share the Trigon with the legend's son.

Robert Duran Jr. said: "This is my city, my home, and I'm bringing that energy into the Trigon. My father sealed his envelope a long time ago, this is about my own legacy now. Spivey's tough, but I've got business to finish and I'm going to finish it in front of my people in Miami."

The Duran Jr. -- Spivey clash joins a stacked BKB 58 card that already features undefeated BKB Heavyweight World Champion Gustavo "The Cuban Assassin" Trujillo defending his title against Mark O'Neil, Olympic gold medalist Yuriorkis Gamboa making his BKB debut against Yesner "Cuajadita" Talavera, and former UFC title contender Aspen Ladd making her BKB debut against Bianca Daimoni.

BKB competition is governed by the Association of Boxing Commissions’ Bare Knuckle Fighting Unified Rules. Legal techniques are limited to bare-knuckle punches with a clenched fist, while wrestling, kicking, elbows, knees, headbutts, takedowns and other prohibited techniques are not permitted. Fighters compete with regulated hand wraps that support the wrists and hands but do not extend over or beyond the knuckles, leaving the striking surface unpadded. Bouts are sanctioned for two- or three-minute rounds, with the unified rules permitting a maximum of six rounds and 18 minutes of fighting time, subject to regulatory approval and the specific bout structure.

The sport demands a different strategic approach from conventional gloved boxing. The absence of padded gloves changes the way fighters attack and defend, while the compact Trigon places additional importance on footwork, angles, positioning and efficient offense. Judges score bouts using the 10-point must system, with effective striking serving as the primary scoring criterion, followed by effective aggression and control of the fighting area when striking is considered even.

BKB’s modern history brings together two strands of the bare-knuckle movement. In May 2024, Miami-based BYB Extreme acquired London-based BKB, which had established itself as a professional bare-knuckle promotion in the United Kingdom and had staged events internationally. The organizations subsequently combined their operations, roster and resources, and in February 2025 the merged entity adopted the name BKB Bare Knuckle Boxing. The company now operates from Miami and maintains an international roster while staging events in the United States, United Kingdom and other markets.

The promotion has also continued to broaden the profile of its athletes by bringing accomplished fighters from traditional boxing and other combat sports into the bare-knuckle arena. Its roster and recent signings have included former world champions and internationally recognized competitors such as Paulie Malignaggi, Lee Selby, Yuriorkis Gamboa, Victor Ortiz, Joseph “JoJo” Diaz and members of the Vargas boxing family. In 2026, BKB announced major signings involving former WBC welterweight champion Victor Ortiz, former world title challenger Henry “Hammerin’ Hank” Lundy, and Fernando Vargas Jr. and Amado Vargas, reflecting the promotion’s continued effort to attract established boxing names alongside its developing bare-knuckle specialists.

BKB has simultaneously expanded its media and distribution footprint. Its current broadcast network includes platforms and outlets such as VICE TV, talkSPORT, Telemundo Deportes Ahora, FUSE, Fight Network, beIN Sports and digital platforms including YouTube and TikTok, giving the promotion multiple avenues to reach audiences in North America, the United Kingdom and internationally. In June 2026, BKB announced a TikTok Live presentation of the preliminary card for BKB 55, adding a direct-to-fan digital component to its broadcast strategy.

International expansion remains a central part of BKB’s current strategy. In July 2026, the organization announced a partnership with Mexico’s Zanfer Boxing to bring BKB to Mexico. The inaugural Mexican event, BKB 59, is scheduled for September 19, 2026, at the Auditorio Municipal in Tijuana. The championship doubleheader is scheduled to feature Tijuana’s Julian Fernandez defending the BKB Super Cruiserweight Championship against Daniel “Big Pod” Podmore, while Cecy Ulloa and Andy Nguyen are slated to meet for the vacant BKB Super Flyweight Championship.
