Red Owl Boxing Announces
Erron “Junkyard Dog” Peterson
vs
Miguel Angel Hernandez
New Boxfest 22 Main Event, Nov. 13th 2300 Arena!
Red Owl Boxing announces a new main event – a 10-round middleweight (160 pounds) championship clash between undefeated Erron “Junkyard Dog” Peterson (15-0-1, 14 KO’s) and fellow knockout artist Miguel Angel Hernandez (9-1-1, 7 KO’s) – for the previously announced ‘Boxfest XXII’ live television event at The 2300 Arena in Philadelphia on Friday, Nov. 13.
Tickets for “Red Owl Boxing Presents Boxfest XXII” are on sale at 2300Arena.com.
“A new opportunity arose for Red Owl Boxing to present a meaningful title fight between a Philadelphia-based, undefeated star in Erron Peterson and another talented and super aggressive fighter in Miguel Angel Hernandez, so we didn’t hesitate to book this bout as a main event fight for both Philly-area fans and Red Owl Boxing viewers worldwide,” said Greg Bloom, CEO of Red Owl Boxing.
The Peterson vs Hernandez fight will be contested with the vacant National Boxing Association (NBA) Americas middleweight championship at stake.
Trained by famed coach Stephen “Breadman” Edwards, the 30-year-old Peterson is known as an unorthodox, but athletic fighter and high-volume puncher.
Peterson turned professional at the age of 26 after a short, unbeaten (6-0, 5 KO’s) amateur career and, in a relatively short time, has established himself as a force in the sport of boxing.
In his last start on July 24, Peterson folded Eronim Aradoale just 57 seconds into the first round of their fight with a left hand to the liver.
Hernandez is a Dallas, Texas-based, 28-year-old orthodox fighter known for his continuous forward movement and aggressive power punching.
A multiple-time Dallas Golden Gloves amateur champion, Hernandez has developed a reputation for starting slow in competition, and for gaining strength and momentum as a fight progresses.
Hernandez is a protégé of Marcos Garcia, who also trains world-ranked contender Frank Martin.
Also announced today was a four-round cruiserweight (200 pounds) contest between unbeaten, 2024 World Boxing Championships amateur silver medalist Rishon “Humblebeast” Sims (2-0, 1 KO) of Harrisburg, Pa. and 2022 National Golden Gloves champion, Elijah “War Chief” Akana (2-1, 1 KO) of Honolulu, HI.
In a six-round super bantamweight (122 pounds) affair announced today, undefeated Cornellio “ChadaTime” Phipps (8-0, 2 KO’s) of Oxford, Pa. will battle hard-hitting Esteban Sital (7-2, 5 KO’s) of Bakersfield, Calif.
Also at super bantamweight, unbeaten Jeffrey Manuel Villanueva (4-0-1, 1 KO) of Reading, Pa. will square off with Miguel Ceballos (3-3, 2 KO’s) of Peoria, Ariz. in a six-round meeting.
In a four-round super welterweight (154 pounds) matchup between two undefeated prospects, Cahir Gormley (4-0, 2 KO’s) of Scranton, Pa. will do battle with Ilyes “The Lion” Bendella (3-0, 2 KO’s) of Richmond, Va.
The previously announced, eight-round super lightweight (140 pounds) fight between undefeated sensation Angel “Sharpie” Perez (11-0-1, 8 KO’s) of Harrisburg and Giovanni Marquez conqueror Wesley “El Bongocero” Ferrer (18-2-1, 8 KO’s) of Brooklyn, N.Y. will contested as the ‘Boxfest XXII’ co-main event.
Perez’s twin brother and former World Boxing Council (WBC) international champion Antonio “Bam Bam” Perez (11-1, 5 KO’s), also fighting out of Harrisburg, will collide with 2025 WBC “Grand Prix” tournament competitor and four-time Canadian national amateur champion, Eric Basran (8-1, 3 KO’s) of Montreal, Quebec in a previously announced, eight-round lightweight (135 pounds) bout.
Additional fights for the “Red Owl Boxing Presents Boxfest XXII” event will be announced soon.
The ‘Boxfest XXII’ main card will stream live on DAZN, beginning at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT, and the preliminary bout card will stream live on Red Owl Boxing’s YouTube channel, beginning at 6 p.m. ET/3 p.m. PT.
Doors at The 2300 Arena open at 5 p.m. local time for ‘Boxfest XXII’ on November 13, and the first preliminary bout will begin at 6 p.m.
