Heavyweight Superstar Teremoana Teremoana
Meets Dangerous Hemi Ahio In Melbourne As Matchroom Boxing Returns To Australia On Wednesday, Nov. 18th!
(October 15th) Matchroom Boxing returns to Australia for a Trans-Tasman tear-up as undefeated heavyweight sensation Teremoana Teremoana takes on dangerous New Zealand rival Hemi Ahio on Wednesday, November 18, at Pullman Melbourne Albert Park – live on Fox Sports and DAZN’s Kayo Sports in Australia.
Towering Aussie hero Teremoana (12-0, 12 KOs) has made a devastating start to his professional career, stopping every opponent he has faced. The Paris Olympian continued his remarkable run in August, when he knocked out American DeAndre Savage in the second round at the Star Gold Coast, registering the 12th knockout victory of his career. It was the first time any opponent had survived beyond the opening round since Teremoana resumed his professional career in December 2024.
The Brisbane-based heavyweight had previously dispatched Bowie Tupou and Curtis Harper with first-round knockouts in April and March respectively, underlining the explosive punching power that has made him one of Australia's most exciting heavyweight prospects. Promoter Eddie Hearn has already tipped Teremoana for future World Championship honours, and the unbeaten 28-year-old now faces a significant step up in experience against a seasoned New Zealand opponent.
Standing in the Olympian's path is Hemi Ahio (25-1, 19 KOs), nicknamed 'The Heat', who brings an impressive record of his own, with 25 victories from 26 professional contests and 19 wins inside the distance. The former WBC Middle East Heavyweight titleholder has more than a decade of professional experience and will be determined to use that experience to disrupt Teremoana's relentless rise.
Ahio was last in action in August, when he secured a third-round technical knockout victory over Joe Ageli, returning to the ring in winning fashion ahead of his Melbourne assignment. The Auckland-based heavyweight has also rebuilt momentum following the sole defeat of his career, a stoppage loss to fellow New Zealander Faiga Opelu in 2022, and will arrive in Australia intent on handing Teremoana the first defeat of his professional career.
Now the pair prepare to headline another exciting night of Championship boxing Down Under, with the undefeated Australian powerhouse looking to maintain his perfect knockout record and Ahio aiming to deliver the biggest victory of his career.
And Teremoana is relishing the challenge as he prepares to headline in Melbourne.
"I'm excited to be fighting again down in Melbourne and this time headlining against a strong opponent from New Zealand in Hemi Ahio,” said Teremoana.
“I am really looking forward to the challenge he will bring. Nothing changes for me. I am here to prove I am the best and Ahio is the next obstacle in my way. I respect what he's achieved but he shouldn't have taken this fight.
"I've been training hard and with another five weeks of preparation until fight night I plan to show the difference in levels. God willing, I will be victorious."
However, Ahio – nicknamed ’The Heat' – has warned Teremoana that he is ready to crank up the temperature and unleash everything he has when the two collide.
"I'm in great shape, maybe in the best shape I have been my entire career,” said Ahio, who has lost just once in 26 contests with 25 wins on his resumé, including 19 stoppages.
"There's going to be fireworks, and we will both be dropping big bombs. I’m ready to throw down with the big man. Let’s go!”
Matchroom Sport Chairman Eddie Hearn is looking forward to a big night Down Under with a card stacked with homegrown talent.
“Australian boxing is flying and I am excited to be returning to Melbourne for what promises to be a brilliant fight card, headlined by the country’s most destructive fighter,” said Hearn.
“We seriously have a superstar on our hands in Teremoana. He must close out this year with another big statement – but he’ll need to be at his best as Hemi Ahio is a very dangerous operator with plenty of experience.
“Teremoana truly has the potential to go very far in the Heavyweight division. I honestly believe he has the tools to become a future World Champion. He is a man Australia needs to get behind."
Updates on the undercard and ticket news to follow soon.

Through the 1990s Matchroom Sport’s boxing roster featured many of the biggest names in the sport including Lennox Lewis, Nigel Benn, Chris Eubank, Steve Collins and Naseem Hamed, all in world title fights and it continues to work with some of the biggest names in UK boxing including Audley Harrison, the 2000 Olympic Super-Heavyweight gold medalist.
Over the years, Matchroom Sport has built up long-standing relationships with broadcasters around the world and with the advent of the Prizefighter phenomenon, the company’s boxing division has never been in a stronger position.
