Ridgewood vs Astoria: Cuadrado and Antonas
Bring Queens Rivalry To Star Boxing Rockin' Fights 55
At The Paramount, In Huntington, October 10th!
(October 2nd) Neighborhood pride, undefeated prospects and knockout power will take center stage when Joe DeGuardia’s Star Boxing returns to The Paramount in Huntington on Saturday, October 10, for Rockin’ Fights 55, a packed night of professional boxing celebrating Columbus Day Weekend.
At the center of the action, undefeated Ridgewood, Queens, prospect and FDNY firefighter Raymond “The Scientist” Cuadrado (8-0, 3 KOs) will face Efstathios “The Greek God” Antonas (13-3-2, 4 KOs) in a highly anticipated 140-pound contest that brings a distinct Queens rivalry to Long Island.
Cuadrado enters the bout with a perfect professional record and a growing following of first responders, family, friends and supporters from Ridgewood. Balancing his career as a New York City firefighter with his pursuit of success inside the ring, Cuadrado will put his unbeaten record on the line against an opponent with more than twice his professional experience.
Standing across from him will be Antonas, a national champion in Greece with European title experience and a physical, grinding style. Originally from Archangelos, Greece, Antonas is currently living and training for the bout and will have strong support from New York’s Greek boxing community in Astoria, Queens. “The Greek God” will look to use his experience and pressure to hand Cuadrado the first professional defeat of his career.
The matchup promises to extend beyond the ropes, with Ridgewood supporters and first responders expected to rally behind Cuadrado while Astoria’s passionate Greek community gets behind Antonas. The result should be a spirited atmosphere as two fighters bring Queens pride to Huntington.
Also putting an unbeaten record on the line will be Huntington’s own Ralph Clemente (5-0, 5 KOs), who returns to The Paramount to face Brooklyn’s Kamron Humphrey (5-3, 3 KOs). Clemente has stopped all five of his professional opponents and will look to continue his perfect knockout streak in front of his hometown supporters.
Humphrey is no stranger to the Star Boxing stage, having appeared on three of the promoter’s cards, including two at The Paramount and another at St. John’s University. He returns to Huntington looking to halt Clemente’s knockout run and hand the hometown favorite his first professional defeat. Clemente has previously fought twice at The Paramount and will be looking for his third win on a Star Boxing card.
Another highly anticipated six-round matchup will feature Bronx fighter and FDNY firefighter Louis Maietta (6-6-2, 2 KOs) against dangerous puncher Eduardo Monrreal (3-6, 3 KOs) of El Paso, Texas, in a 170-pound contest.
Maietta has become a fan favorite at The Paramount, but Monrreal has already demonstrated his ability to spoil a homecoming. Last year, he knocked out previously unbeaten Austin Cassese at the Westchester County Center. All three of Monrreal’s professional victories have come by knockout, making him a dangerous opponent despite his overall record.
Brooklyn knockout artist Ra-Leek Born (4-0, 4 KOs) will also put his perfect record on the line against Markus Bowes in a four-round bout. Born has stopped each of his four professional opponents and will look to make it five straight victories by knockout.
In another four-round contest, Yousaf Zazai (1-0, 1 KO) of Kabul, Afghanistan, will face Sharif One (1-0, 1 KO) of the Bronx. Both fighters enter following knockout victories in their professional debuts and will each be looking to make it two wins as professionals.
“Rockin’ Fights 55 brings together everything we love about boxing at The Paramount: hometown pride, hungry prospects and opponents coming to win,” said Joe DeGuardia, CEO of Star Boxing. “Cuadrado and Clemente are putting their undefeated records on the line, and there’s something at stake in every matchup. We look forward to giving our fans an exciting night of boxing on October 10.”
The Columbus Day Weekend celebration will extend beyond the boxing ring, with a live performance by America’s Tenor Christopher Macchio during the pre-fight festivities, along with special guest appearances and surprises throughout the evening.
From neighborhood rivalries and undefeated prospects to experienced opponents looking to pull off an upset, Rockin’ Fights 55 promises an action-packed night at one of the country’s premier club boxing venues.
