Garner Delivers Dream Night At St Mary's,

Outpoints Magnesi For Interim WBC Title!

(June 20th) St Mary’s Stadium, Southampton, Hampshire, United Kingdom: In the main event of a Frank Warren - Queensberry Promotions streamed live on DAZN, Southampton’s own Ryan “The Piranha” Garner fulfilled a lifelong dream claiming the vacant WBC Interim World Super Featherweight title defeating Cave, Lazio, Italy’s, Michael “Lone Wolf” Magnesi by way of unanimous decision.

 

Garner controlled much of the high-tempo, action-packed, bruising twelve-round contest fought largely at close quarters. Magnesi displayed his customary toughness and aggression, but Garner’s cleaner punching, sharper accuracy and superior work at range consistently separated the two fighters. After twelve competitive rounds, the judges returned scores of 119-109, 118-110 and 116-112, all in favor of Garner, who improved to 20-0, 10Ko’s. Magnesi fell to 26-3, 13Ko’s. The victory secured Garner the Interim WBC super featherweight crown and positioned him for a future shot at full WBC champion O’Shaquie Foster, 25-3, 12Ko’s.

In chief support, Southampton, light heavyweight, “Saint,” Lewis Edmondson produced the biggest win of his career, outboxing Manchester, former world-title challenger Lyndon “King” Arthur over ten rounds. Edmondson controlled the action with disciplined boxing and earned a unanimous decision on scores of 97-93, 96-94 and 96-95, improving to 12-1, 3Ko’s while handing Arthur his fourth professional defeat at 25-4, 16Ko’s.

 

In a minor upset, Coventry, West Midlands, middleweight, Bradley Goldsmith captured the IBF International title with an impressive upset victory over Epping, Essex, Brad “The Newquay Bomb” Pauls.

 

Goldsmith dropping Pauls down in the sixth round with a powerful left to the head put on a dominant performance and grabbing a persuasive 97-92, 99-90 times two unanimous decision moving his record to 16-1, 10Ko’s as Pauls drops to 21-3-1, 12Ko’s.

 

Cardiff, Wales, rising super middleweight prospect, Taylor Bevan was extended the full ten-round distance for the first time in his professional career but remained unbeaten, taking a majority decision over Manchester based Pole, Ryszard Lewicki. Two judges scored the contest 97-94 for Bevan, while the third had it even at 95-95. Bevan remains unbeaten at 9-0, 8Ko’s while Lewicki winless in his last three appearances falls to 12-4-3, 5Ko’s.

 

On the undercard, Chichester, Sussex, cruiserweight prospect, Iman Zahmatkesh defeated Newcastle, Tyne and Wear’s, Franklin “The Raging Bull” Arinze over eight rounds, earning a referee Bernard Oyet scored 77-74 points verdict. Zahmatkesh moves to 6-0, 4Ko’s as Arinze with back-to-back points losses drops to 10-2, 7Ko’s.

 

In a competitive eight round super lightweight action, Kvareli, Georgia, 2024 Olympian, Lasha Guruli survived a final-round knockdown to edge Chingford, London’s, Liam Dillon for a referee ref: Bernard Oyet scored 76-75 points win. Guruli improves to 4-0, 1Ko. Dillon 1-4 in his last five bouts falls to 16-6-1, 3Ko’s.

 

Maidstone, Kent, 24-year-old, super featherweight, Charlie Senior out classed Buenos Aires, Argentina veteran, Reuquen “Topo” Arce over eight rounds for a referee Mark Bates scored 79-73 points win. Senior advances to 5-0, 2Ko’s while Arce winless in his last six bouts sinks to 18-23-2, 7Ko’s.

 

In a six-round pairing of unbeaten super welterweights, Maidstone, Kent, 21-year-old, prospect, Mason Payne stayed unbeaten with a convincing, referee Bernard Oyet scored 60-54 points win over Dakar, Senegal’s, Cheikh Diop. Payne improves to 6-1, 4Ko’s while the 29-year-old Diop with his first defeat slips to 6-1, 4Ko’s.

 

Morecambe, Lancashire, 19-year-old, southpaw super featherweight, Leighton Birchall held on to his unblemished record with an experience gaining referee Mark Bates scored 60-54 six round points win over Callao, Peru 33-year-old, veteran, Cesar Ignacio Paredes. Birchall improves to 5-0, 3Ko’s as Paredes winless in his last 23 dives to18-36-1, 5Ko’s.

 

Tallaght, Ireland 20-year-old, heavyweight prospect, Adam Olaniyan stopped Watford, Hertfordshire, based Belarusian, Viktar Chvarkou in the second round of their scheduled four-round bout. Olaniyan moves to 2-0, 2Ko’s as the 40-year-old, Chvarkou winless in his last eight outings sinks to 6-34, 3Ko’s.

 

In a scheduled six round featherweight bout, Morecambe, Lancashire’s, William Birchall the 25-year older brother of Leighton stayed perfect disposing of Usti nad Labem, Czechia’s, 41-year-old, “mark” Miroslav Prochazka in one round. Birchall improves to 5-0, 5Ko’s as Prochazka 1-3 in his last four fights drops to 8-18, 6Ko’s.
