Chávez Jr. Keeps Active 2026 Campaign Rolling
With Dominate Third Round Stoppage Of Caicedo!

Saturday, April 25th, Reynosa, Tamaulipas, Mexico: Fighting out of Culiacán, former WBC Middleweight Champion, Julio Chávez Jr. delivered exactly what a home crowd in the baseball stadium of Reynosa, Tamaulipas demanded a dominant and decisive performance stopping Colombia's, Jhon Caicedo in three rounds.
The cruiserweight headliner was never seriously competitive, with the gap in experience, power and ring authority on display from the opening bell, Chávez Jr. showed twenty-three years of professional maturity and authority against the Colombian, landing shots that energized the crowd and demonstrated clear control of the contest. Working behind his experience and superior punch output, the son of legendary boxing champion, controlled the center of the ring early, utilizing a targeted body work, a hallmark of the Chávez lineage to slow and discourage the 21-year-old, challenger.
Caicedo, aggressive by nature but overmatched in class and durability was unable to mount any meaningful offense clipped with a sharp right hand, then rushed in with a series of shots finalized by a thudding left hook forcing the referee to cut short his count at the 0:23 mark of the third round.
Following being arrested and detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement in early July 2025, just days after a lopsided 10-round unanimous decision loss to Jake Paul in Anaheim, California, remaining in custody until August 24th with authorities alleging ties to the Sinaloa cartel and having charges filed related to the trafficking of firearms, ammunition, and explosives, allegations Chávez has firmly denied with his second win of 2026 moves to 56-7-1, 36Ko’s. Caicedo, stopped in back-to-back bouts, falls to 13-2, 5Ko’s.
The three-month turnaround between fights outside the norm, represents Chávez’s fastest return and most active stretch since 2020, a significant shift for a fighter whose career has often been as defined by long layoffs as by his performances inside the ring.
