"Queen of the Ring" April 18th!

(April 15th) All Women’s Sports Network (AWSN) and Marquez Promotions, the professional boxing outfit launched by retired world champion Juan Manuel Marquez, announce a partnership to distribute the promotion’s next women’s boxing card live from Monterrey, N.L., Mexico (venue TBD) on Saturday, April 18 at 10:30 p.m. ET/7:30 p.m. PT.

 

The live “Queen of the Ring” card features three Marquez Promotions professional women’s fights, headlined by a six-round featherweight (126 lbs/57 kg) clash between undefeated rivals Ambar Mendoza (4-0, 1 KO) and Abigail Gonzalez Ibarra (3-0, 2 KOs).

 

Ambar Mendoza, 24, from Torreón, Coahuila, is a former amateur national champion and National Olympics silver medalist. All her pro wins came against previously undefeated opponents. Her last bout was a unanimous decision over Lorenz Gutierrez Barajas on August 4, 2023, followed by an extended leave to give birth to her daughter.

 

Abigail Gonzalez Ibarra, also 24 from Monterrey, is a hard-hitting prospect coming off a second-round TKO (2:38) of Gabriela Zacarias Zampayo on February 28.

 

Veteran combat sports announcer Rodolfo Roman provides blow-by-blow with color commentary from Alexandra “Alex” Wendling.

Co-Main Event: Rubi Gutierrez Salinas (7-3-1) of Saltillo, Coahuila vs. Maria De Los Angeles Sanchez (4-4) of Gómez Palacio, Durango – six rounds, junior flyweight (108 lbs/49 kg).

 

Opener: Eunice Campos Luna (3-1, 1 KO) of Tijuana, B.C. vs. Naila Rojas Gonzalez (3-3) – four rounds, catchweight (106 lbs/48 kg).

 

Promotion Background

Juan Manuel Marquez (56-7-1, 40 KOs), a four-division titlist (featherweight, jr. lightweight, lightweight, jr. welterweight), 2020 IBHOF inductee, and famed for his 2012 KO of Manny Pacquiao, retired in 2017 to launch Marquez Promotions. The company spotlights emerging Mexican talent with events like "Gloves & Glory" series at Bert Ogden Arena (e.g., September 2025 card headlined by Eridson Garcia) and "Gloves & Glory II" at Showcenter Complex in San Pedro Garza García. CEO Aldo Marquez leads operations, emphasizing competitive matchmaking to forge future champions: "We don't seek fighters; we seek legends."
