Team Boxing League

Signs Deal With MSG Networks!

(April 24th) Team Boxing League (TBL) has secured a new television rights deal with MSG Networks, bringing the remainder of its Season4 bouts to the New York–area regional sports network.

The agreement includes linear coverage on MSG Networks plus streaming availability via MSG+, the Gotham Sports app, and the MSG Sportzone FAST (free adsupported) channel.

TBL’s next featured matchup under the deal is NYC Attitude vs. Boston Butchers, airing as part of the 16week Season4 schedule.

The partnership expands TBL’s footprint by leveraging MSG’s established distribution and audience base, which already carries major local franchises such as the Knicks and Rangers.

On the TBL side, the deal was led by CEO Kevin Cassidy; MSG Networks was represented by Armando Polanco, VP of content distribution.

Beyond the MSG deal, TBL continues to distribute its content via its own app on Apple TV, Roku, Fire TV, Samsung TV, LG, and YouTube, with an additional Vizio rollout expected imminently.

The league has also announced a major partnership with Manny Pacquiao and Manny Pacquiao Promotions, under which Pacquiao invests in TBL and serves as a franchise owner for the San Diego team, while TBL concurrently partners with Creator Sports Network for digitalcreator content.

MSG Networks, which is part of Sphere Entertainment Co., is an industry leader in production and content development, comprised of two award-winning sports and entertainment networks, MSG Network (MSG) and MSG Sportsnet (MSGSN) and MSG+, MSG’s state-of-the art streaming product.

Serving the nation’s number one media market, the New York DMA, as well as other portions of New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Pennsylvania, each year the networks collectively televise hundreds of live professional games and feature a compelling lineup of critically acclaimed original programming. The networks’ wide range of content includes exclusive live local games and programming focused on the New York Knicks, New York Rangers, New York Islanders, New Jersey Devils, Buffalo Sabres, and Westchester Knicks, as well as significant coverage of the New York Giants and Buffalo Bills.

For more than 50 years, MSG Networks has been a pioneer in regional sports television, setting a standard of excellence, creativity and technological innovation. Beginning with its debut as the first regional sports network in the country in 1969, MSG Networks has been at the forefront of the industry, consistently pushing the boundaries and re-imagining the possibilities of regional television.

Through the years, MSG Networks has continuously evolved and set trends others in the industry closely follow. In 1998, MSG Networks became the first regular provider of sports coverage in high-definition television, when they began producing all Knicks and Rangers home games in that emerging format. This was followed in 2010 with MSG Networks becoming the first network in the country to offer home viewers a live 3D sports telecast with a Rangers-Islanders matchup from Madison Square Garden. With a simulcast of a Knicks game in 2017, MSG Networks became the first network to offer a live fantasy sports infused broadcast of a live game. In 2018, MSG Networks became the first regional sports network to integrate live stats and interactive games on its MSG GO streaming service, and in 2021, MSG Networks became the first regional sports network to launch a new, standalone app – MSG Networks Pick ‘Em – for free-to-play pick ‘em style contests.

Most recently, MSG Networks launched MSG+, its new state-of-the art streaming product that provides New York area NHL and NBA fans more ways than ever to watch their favorite teams.  MSG+ (which includes all content from MSG Network and MSG SportsNet) offers fans access to all MSG-produced live NBA and NHL games as well as other live sports events and programming included on the networks in their area.  Fans can purchase single games of their favorite local teams, a first for an RSN, or monthly or annual subscriptions on a direct-to-consumer basis.  MSG+ and its full complement of programming is available at no additional charge to subscribers of participating pay television providers of MSG Networks, replacing MSG GO as the company’s authenticated streaming service and enhancing the value to MSG Networks’ pay television providers and subscribers.

MSG Networks’ commitment to its fans and community extends far beyond the television screen. MSG Networks proudly supports the Garden of Dreams Foundation, which provides young people in the New York area with life-changing access to educational and skills opportunities; mentoring programs and memorable experiences that enhance their lives, help shape their futures and create lasting joy.  The Foundation focuses on young people facing illness or financial challenges, as well as children of uniformed personnel who have been lost or injured while serving our communities. Together with the Foundation, MSG Networks’ “MSG Classroom,” program, an educational program designed to teach high school kids about the media industry, has won numerous prestigious awards since its inception in 2007.

The  Team Boxing League (TBL) , also referred to as the Team Combat League, is a professional sports league featuring a city-based team ownership model. It is the first professional boxing league to have male and female athletes compete together on the same roster.

League Format & Rules

Unlike traditional boxing, TBL uses a high-energy, fast-paced format designed for modern audiences.

Match Structure: Each match consists of 24 three-minute rounds.

One-Round Contests: Most competitors fight just one round before being substituted for a teammate in a different weight class.

Segments: Matches are split into three periods:

Launch Rounds: Rounds 1–8.

Middle Rounds: Rounds 9–16.

Money Rounds: Rounds 17–24, where coaches strategically re-enter their best fighters to decide the winner.

Scoring: In Season 4, a team can earn up to 4 points per round. A win by stoppage (KO/TKO) or disqualification grants the full 4 points. A points decision win earns 1 point, plus 1 point for every knockdown scored (up to a max of 2 knockdown bonuses).
