Returns May 30th
At War Memorial Auditorium In Fort Lauderdale!
(May 7th) Undefeated WBO #14 ranked heavyweight
contender, Gustavo Trujillo
(10-0, 9 KOs), has a new date and location for his long-awaited return as he is set to
face seasoned veteran Sergio Ramirez
Marin (22-8, 12 KOs). The scheduled 10-round heavyweight
clash will now take place at the historic War Memorial Auditorium in Fort Lauderdale, FL, on May 30, 2026. The event will be promoted by American Dream Presents.
Known to fight fans as “The Cuban Assassin,”
Trujillo, a popular Cuban Heavyweight, has become one of
the sport’s most dangerous knockout artists. In addition to his undefeated professional boxing record, the Miami-based slugger is also the reigning BKB Heavyweight Champion in bare-knuckle boxing,
where he owns a perfect 8-0 record with every victory ending in the first round.
A standout amateur talent originally from Cuba, Trujillo has earned recognition for his explosive punching power, aggressive style, and growing popularity among fight fans throughout the United
States and Latin America.
“This new date and fighting in Fort Lauderdale has me extremely motivated,” said Trujillo. “South Florida has become home to me, and I’m excited to perform in front of the fans who continue
supporting my journey. Every fight is another step toward the top of the heavyweight division.”
The additional preparation time has only sharpened Trujillo’s focus heading into the matchup. “The extra time has been a blessing for my camp,” Trujillo added. “I’ve been able to improve every part
of my game. I’m getting stronger, faster, and more dangerous each week. Fans are going to see the best version of Gustavo Trujillo on May 30.”
Representatives involved with Trujillo’s career believe the new setting and date maintain the same high expectations surrounding his continued rise. “We’re excited about bringing Gustavo back in Fort
Lauderdale on May 30,” said Abe Swidan of Visionary Sports Group, who managers Trujillo. “The location and date may have changed, but the expectations remain exactly the same. Gustavo continues to
develop into a major force in the heavyweight division, and we expect him to deliver another memorable performance.”
earlier this week in a major update for boxing fans, the highly anticipated "Havana Heat" card, headlined by Cuban legends Yuriorkis Gamboa and Guillermo Rigondeaux, has been officially rescheduled from its original May 2nd date at Miami's James L. Knight Center to May 30th, at the War Memorial Auditorium in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
The blockbuster event, promoted by Nothing But Sportz, pits Olympic gold medalist Yuriorkis Gamboa (30-5, 18 KOs) against Alexander Espinoza (20-5-1, 9 KOs) in an eight-round junior welterweight clash, with former two-division world champion Guillermo Rigondeaux (23-3, 16 KOs) co-headlining versus Jose Velasquez (34-13-3, 24 KOs). Gamboa, 44, makes his long-awaited return after a four-year layoff and legal hurdles in Cuba, while the 45-year-old Rigondeaux rides a three-fight win streak.
This venue shift ensures an electrifying night of 13 bouts featuring rising stars like Pierre Nance and Nikita Ababiy, delivering the high-octane action fans crave.

Presented by Ron Johnson’s American Dream Presents and Nothing But Sportz, the event features a 13-bout professional card built around fighters who have proven themselves and others looking to take that next step.
“Gamboa and Rigondeaux aren’t just accomplished fighters — they represent a boxing tradition that has produced some of the toughest, smartest, and most respected champions in the sport,” said Ron Johnson. “Cuban boxing carries real history, discipline, and pride. To present both of these men on the same night, in a city like Miami that understands that culture, is something I take seriously. It’s an honor to bring two legends to this stage.”
This is not a one-fight show. From the opening bell through the main event, “Havana Heat” is built as a complete night of boxing with pace, personality, and stakes throughout the card.
Main Event
Yuriorkis Gamboa — Gamboa didn’t come up easy—and he never fought like it. From his rise through the amateurs to becoming a unified world champion, he built his name on speed, confidence, and the ability to take over a fight in moments. He’s shared the ring with top-level competition and continues to bring the same edge, the same explosiveness, and the same mindset that made him one of the most dangerous fighters in boxing. When Gamboa steps in, there’s always a real moment waiting to happen.
Guillermo Rigondeaux — A two-time Olympic gold medalist and former world champion, Rigondeaux has spent the last decade being regarded as one of the most skilled fighters in the world. His timing, discipline, and ability to control distance have made him one of the most difficult fighters to deal with in boxing. He doesn’t waste movement, doesn’t force anything—he makes opponents fight his fight, and very few have been able to solve it.
