Former World Champion Jason Moloney Signs
Multi-Fight Promotional Deal With Zuffa Boxing!
(July 8th) Former WBO bantamweight world champion Jason "Mayhem" Moloney has officially signed a multi-fight promotional agreement with Zuffa Boxing, becoming one of the highest-profile established world-level fighters to join Dana White's rapidly expanding boxing promotion.
The signing marks another significant addition to Zuffa Boxing's growing international roster as the promotion continues to build its presence in the professional boxing landscape. Multiple reports indicate the agreement is a five-fight contract, although Zuffa Boxing has publicly described it as a multi-fight deal.
Moloney, 35, enters the partnership determined to secure another world championship opportunity while embracing Zuffa Boxing's vision for the sport.
"I love what Zuffa is doing, giving the fans great fights every time and matching the best against the best," Moloney said after signing the deal. "I can't see it being anything other than a success and I think it's only a matter of time before they take over boxing."
The Australian veteran said he remains focused on becoming a two-time world champion, while acknowledging that if sanctioning body politics limit opportunities, he would also welcome the chance to compete for a future Zuffa Boxing championship.
"I want another world title shot," Moloney said. "But if that doesn't happen because of the sanctioning bodies, I'd definitely love to win a Zuffa title."
Moloney revealed he expects to remain highly active under the new promotional banner, targeting approximately three fights annually and aiming to make his Zuffa Boxing debut in September or October.
The signing follows an encouraging return to form for the veteran bantamweight. Moloney owns a professional record of 29-4, 20Ko's and enters the Zuffa roster riding a two-fight winning streak after stopping Herlan Gomez in December 2025 before defeating Andre Donovan by unanimous decision in April 2026 to capture the vacant IBF Inter-Continental bantamweight title.
One of Australia's most accomplished lower-weight fighters of the past decade, Moloney captured the WBO bantamweight world championship in May 2023 with a majority decision victory over Vincent Astrolabio. He successfully defended the title against Saul Sanchez before losing the championship to Japan's Yoshiki Takei in May 2024. Throughout his career, Moloney has consistently competed against elite opposition, including former undisputed champion Naoya Inoue, and has twice challenged for the IBF bantamweight title.
Born in Mitcham, Victoria, and now based in New South Wales, Moloney represented Australia at the 2010 Commonwealth Games before turning professional in 2014. Standing 5-foot-5 with a 65-inch reach and fighting from an orthodox stance, he has established himself as one of Australia's premier lighter-weight boxers while also operating Undisputed Boxing & Fitness and working as an accredited sports nutritionist.
Moloney's arrival further strengthens Zuffa Boxing's Australian presence alongside IBF cruiserweight world champion Jai Opetaia and reflects the promotion's intention to stage future events in Australia as part of its global expansion strategy.
Moloney's signing represents another step in that strategy, adding an experienced former world champion with international name recognition and championship credentials to Zuffa Boxing's bantamweight division. His addition also raises continued industry interest regarding how the traditional sanctioning bodies will work with fighters competing under the Zuffa Boxing banner while the promotion develops its own championship structure.
An official date, venue and opponent for Moloney's Zuffa Boxing debut have not yet been announced, although discussions have reportedly included potential events in Saudi Arabia later this year, with additional opportunities expected in Australia and Japan.
Founded by UFC CEO Dana White, Zuffa Boxing has launched with a fundamentally different competitive structure than traditional professional boxing. Rather than recognizing the sport's 17 conventional weight divisions, the promotion has adopted an eight-division system similar to the UFC, recognizing championships only at heavyweight, cruiserweight, light heavyweight, middleweight, welterweight, lightweight, featherweight and bantamweight. White has consistently argued that reducing the number of divisions and emphasizing championship-caliber matchups will simplify the sport for fans and create more meaningful title fights.
The eight recognized divisions under the Zuffa model are:

Zuffa Boxing, the joint venture between Dana White, TKO Group and Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority, is making major waves in the professional boxing industry yet again.
Officially launched in January 2026, the new promotion seeks to introduce a centralized, UFC-style league model featuring a single world title and unified internal rankings. Their partnership with Turki Alalshikh, along with a distribution deal with Paramount+, is shifting the sport’s power dynamic.
The company is headquartered in Las Vegas and aspires to revolutionize the boxing landscape by applying a centralized, promoter-driven model similar to the UFC’s approach, including single belts and unified matchmaking for major titles. White first floated the Zuffa Boxing idea following the 2017 Conor McGregor vs. Floyd Mayweather crossover event, citing the need to modernize and streamline boxing promotions, but it wasn’t until June 2025 that the brand was officially launched through high-profile partnerships and funding from Saudi Arabia.
The inaugural Zuffa Boxing event is the blockbuster September 13, 2025, Canelo Álvarez vs. Terence Crawford super-fight, at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, and streaming globally on Netflix—marking a first for a major boxing match of this scale. The promotion is expected to stage 12 events annually for five years, totaling 60 shows, with four of these billed as “mega-fights” similar to the Canelo-Crawford clash.
Zuffa Boxing's first numbered event was Zuffa Boxing 01, held on January 23, 2026, at the Meta Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada. The inaugural show was headlined by Irish middleweight prospect Callum Walsh against Carlos Ocampo, with Walsh winning by unanimous decision.
Media rights negotiations are ongoing, with Paramount Plus as the leading contender for a broadcast deal in the U.S., while select events may continue behind pay-per-view, but the majority could stream widely and even air on CBS. Zuffa Boxing has already organized a prospect-filled card before its first main event, showcasing its commitment to developing new talent alongside marquee matchups.
Through its social media presence and engagement, Zuffa Boxing has signaled a fully modern approach to promotion, with global streaming, high-profile partnerships, and a strong connection to UFC infrastructure and talent. This new venture represents one of the most ambitious attempts yet to reshape professional boxing, bringing together some of combat sports’ biggest players and promising regular major events, innovative matchmaking, and a unified promotional vision.
