Leone 1947 is a historic Italian combat-sports equipment brand, best known for boxing gloves but also producing gear and apparel for Muay Thai, kickboxing, MMA, savate, and general training. It was founded in Milan in March 1947 by leather-goods craftsman Orlando Leone.

Leone built its reputation in postwar Italian boxing, becoming a dominant domestic equipment maker; the company says that Italian boxers of that era wore its gloves. Over time, the brand expanded beyond traditional boxing into the wider combat-sports market while retaining a distinctly Italian design identity.

What Leone makes Its range includes:

Boxing gloves, bag gloves, sparring gloves, and competition-oriented models.

Headgear, groin guards, mouthguards, wraps, and other protective equipment.

Punch mitts, kick shields, heavy-bag gear, and coaching equipment.

Muay Thai and kickboxing shin guards.

MMA gloves and training gear.

Fight shorts, tracksuits, shirts, footwear, and gym bags.

Leone is generally positioned from mid-range to premium, depending on the collection. Its standard products are widely used for everyday gym work, while higher-end lines emphasize Italian manufacture, leather construction, and more premium finishing. The brand’s appeal is often its combination of heritage, bold styling, and a broad lineup across striking sports.

The company has promoted and sponsored notable combat-sports athletes, including kickboxing figures Giorgio and Armen Petrosyan, Gago Drago, Artur Kyshenko, Chingiz Allazov, and MMA fighter Alessio Sakara, among others.

If you see “Leone 1947” on gloves or gym gear, it refers to one of Europe’s classic fight-sport brands—not a model name. It is especially associated with Italian boxing culture, but today it is marketed globally across boxing, kickboxing, Muay Thai, and MMA.
