Alalshikh Announces Usyk / Fury Rematch

For December In Saudi Arabia!

(May 30th) Yes! There will be a rematch. The two heavyweight giants will settle their unresolved differences in a return bump later this year

Turki Alalshikh announced Oleksandr Usyk, who claimed the undisputed heavyweight title in outpointing Tyson Fury earlier this month, will return to Kingdom Arena, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia to rematch the "Gypsy King" on December 21st.

The battle of unbeatens saw the 37-year-old, Ukrainian, Usyk unified his WBO, WBA and IBF championships with Fury's WBC title defeating the 35-year-old "Gypsy King" by split decision earlier this month also in Saudi Arabia.

Following a momentary pause Fury kicked off a second go-round initiating the contracted rematch clause.

Besides it no longer being a battle of unbeatens the potential return undisputed heavyweight title match has hit a snag as it is uncertain Usyk will still hold all four world title belts in December as the IBF has called for Usyk be stripped if a rematch happened without the winner failing to meet their obligation to face mandatory challenger Filip Hrgovic who is slated to meet former Usyk opponent Daniel Dubois this Saturday in Riyadh.

Currently still in contention, team Usyk's has filed a motion with the IBF to be granted an exception so he could retain the title and continue forward as undisputed champion but the IBF has not yet announced a decision concerning Usyk's application.

IBF update - Ticket and full card information to be announced soon.
