Tokyo Clash: Estrada / Nasukawa

High-Stakes Bantamweight Bout This Weekend!

(April 7th) The April 11 showdown between Tenshin Nasukawa and Juan Francisco Estrada stands as one of the most intriguing crossroads fights of the 2026 lower-weight calendar, pitting a rising Japanese star still learning the professional boxing craft against one of the modern era’s most accomplished lighter-weight champions. Promoted by Teiken Promotions and staged at Tokyo’s historic Ryogoku Kokugikan, the 12-round bout serves as a WBC bantamweight title eliminator, with the winner becoming mandatory challenger to reigning champion Takuma Inoue. The fight headlines the “Prime Video Boxing 15” tripleheader streaming on Amazon Prime Video in Japan.

For Nasukawa (7-1, 2 KOs), the contest represents a pivotal attempt at redemption. The 27-year-old southpaw entered professional boxing in 2023 after an illustrious undefeated kickboxing career but encountered his first defeat in November 2025 when he dropped a unanimous decision to Inoue in a bout for the vacant WBC bantamweight title. The loss exposed developmental gaps in ring management and late-round adjustments against elite opposition. Now with just eight professional boxing bouts and roughly 60 rounds of experience, Nasukawa faces his sternest stylistic test yet as he attempts to reassert himself in the title picture.

Estrada (45-4, 28 KOs), a 17-year professional and former unified super flyweight champion, enters with a résumé that dwarfs that of his opponent. The Mexican veteran built his legacy through championship victories across multiple divisions and memorable rivalries with elite contemporaries such as Román González. At 35, however, Estrada is navigating the twilight phase of his career following a 2024 stoppage loss to Jesse Rodríguez before rebounding with a decision win over Karim Arce Lugo in 2025. The Tokyo eliminator marks his first fight in Japan and only his third appearance in Asia, underscoring both the global scope of his career and the significance of the opportunity to secure one final world title run at bantamweight.

Stylistically, the bout presents a classic youth-versus-experience dynamic. Nasukawa relies on speed, explosive entry angles, and unconventional rhythm derived from his kickboxing background. His challenge lies in sustaining effectiveness across twelve rounds against a veteran known for technical adaptability. Estrada, meanwhile, remains one of the sport’s most tactically intelligent pressure fighters, with a sophisticated body attack and the ability to disrupt rhythm through counterpunching and subtle positional adjustments. If Estrada can neutralize Nasukawa’s early bursts and draw the fight into measured exchanges in the second half, his experience in championship rounds could become decisive.

The undercard reinforces the event’s international flavor. Unbeaten Japanese prospect Tomoya Tsuboi (3-0) faces former WBC light flyweight champion Pedro Guevara (43-5-2) in a 115-pound test of youth against veteran savvy. At flyweight, Kyosuke Takami (10-1) meets former titleholder Angel Ayala Lardizabal (18-1) in a competitive clash between ranked contenders. Additional bouts include undefeated bantamweight Katsuma Akitsugu (14-0) versus Mexico’s Jose Miguel Calderon Cervantes (14-3), and rising Japanese prospect Keita Kubotera (2-0) against Filipino fighter Crisaldy Beltran in a six-round lightweight bout.

Teiken Promotions is one of the most influential and historically successful boxing promotional organizations in Japan and Asia. Founded in 1969 and headquartered in Tokyo, the company is closely connected to the renowned Teiken Boxing Gym and has played a central role in developing many of Japan’s world champions. The organization is led by longtime president Akihiko Honda, who has overseen its rise into a globally respected promotional powerhouse.

Teiken’s operations are built around fighter development, international matchmaking, and large-scale event promotion. Over decades, the company has cultivated elite Japanese talent while also arranging cross-continental bouts with fighters from Mexico, the United States, and Europe. Its events have been staged at iconic venues such as Ryogoku Kokugikan and regularly feature world title fights sanctioned by the sport’s major governing bodies, particularly the World Boxing Council and World Boxing Association.

Teiken Promotions is widely credited with guiding the careers of several of Japan’s most celebrated champions. Among its most notable fighters are Genaro Hernández’s rival and Japanese legend Joichiro Tatsuyoshi, former multi-division champion Jorge Linares, and long-reigning super featherweight titleholder Takashi Uchiyama. The company also helped promote the career of Naoya Inoue during the early stages of his rise before he later worked primarily with Ohashi Boxing Gym.

Under Honda’s leadership, Teiken has emphasized global collaboration, regularly working with major international promoters such as Top Rank and Golden Boy Promotions to bring high-profile bouts to Japan. This cooperative model helped elevate Japan’s boxing market into one of the sport’s most active territories, especially in the lighter weight divisions.

Today, Teiken Promotions continues to promote major cards featuring rising Japanese prospects and international contenders, including events broadcast through global streaming platforms such as Amazon Prime Video. With more than five decades of history, the organization remains a cornerstone of Japanese professional boxing and a key player in staging world-class fights across Asia.
