Nina Meinke Shines In Hamburg Return;

Kadiru, Odiase and Jurk Impress!

Friday, March 20th, Fischauktionshalle, Altona, Hamburg, Germany: In the main event of a Florian Winter – Ringside Zone event, Spandau, Berlin, Germany, IBF World Featherweight Campion, Nina “The Brave” Meinke added the vacant IBO World Featherweight strap to her collection with a authoritative twelve round points win over Sabana Iglesia, Dominican Republic’s, Dyana “La Maquina” Vargas.

 

Meinke returning from a ten-month layoff caused by a serious back injury, the 31-year-old champion showed no evidence of rust quickly established a steady jab, moving and controlling the spacing boxing with sharp timing holding off and at times frustrating her 34 year old challenger with clean southpaw left highlighted combinations boxing her way to a one sided 120–108, 119–109 times two twelve round unanimous decision win. Meinke unbeaten since an April 2022 ten round points loss to then unbeaten Sarah Mahfoud moves to 21-3, 4Ko’s.  Vargas 1-2-1 in her last for falls to 20-3-1, 13Ko’s.

 

In the eight-round heavyweight semi-main attraction, Hamburg’s, Peter Kadiru floored Montevideo, Uruguay’s, Mauricio “El Demoledor” Barragan three times enroute to a compulsive eight round unanimous decision win.

 

The 28-year-old staring slowly found his grove working Barragan to the body closing the distance flooring “El Demoledor” for the first time with a clean 1-2 near the middle of round six.

 

Staying composed Kadiru increased his pressure tracking and flooring the fading 37-year-old, with another heavy right hand. Looking to close the show Kadiru pressed on dropping Barragan a third time with another big right hand. Unable to finish off the now all defensive Uruguayan, Kadiru was forced to settle for a 80–71, 79–71, times two eight round unanimous decision win. Kadiru’s four bout Ko run ends at 22-1, 13Ko’s as Barragan 2-3 in his last five fights drops to 20-6, 12Ko’s.

The undefeated prospect Odiase controlled the durable Ukrainian throughout, going the full eight rounds for the first time as a professional.

 

Viktor Jurk TKO2 Emilio Ezequiel Zarate - A powerful left dropped Zarate in round two, prompting his corner to halt the contest.

 

Felix Langberg KO4 Djuar El Scheich - Langberg ended matters with a crushing liver shot after dominating the opening rounds.

 

Light Heavyweights:

Alexander Okafor TKO4 Ibrahim Yildirim - Okafor scored multiple knockdowns before Yildirim’s corner stopped the fight in the fourth.

 

The card marked the second event staged by rising German promoter Ringside Zone, following its debut show in Heidelberg last year. The company plans a larger event in Mannheim in May, where several of the night’s winners, including Kadiru and Okafor are expected to return in higher-stakes bouts.
