Peter McGrail Gets Back On Track

With Ten Round Points Win!

April 27th, Exhibition Centre, Liverpool, Merseyside, United Kingdom: In the main event of Eddie Hearn - Matchroom Boxing card streamed live on DAZN, Liverpool, UK, Peter McGrail moved back into contention atop the super bantamweight division with dominant ten round unanimous decision over Salford, Lancashire’s, Marc “Livewire” Leach.

 

In the all-southpaw the all-British southpaw on southpaw main attraction we saw McGrail returning from a December 2023 fifth round KO loss to once beaten Ja'Rico O'Quinn and Leach coming off back-to-back losses to Liam Davies L10D and Masood Abdulah KO7 battle cuts with the more aggressive 2020 Olympian, McGrail out working and out landing the game but smothered “Livewire” for a convincing 100-90, 99-91 times two unanimous decision win.

In an entertaining back and forth battle, switch hitting, Beatrice “Beast” Ferreira claimed the IBf World Lightweight title with a perpetual offensive blitz leaving the “spunky” Yanina del Carmen Lescano cut over her left eye from an accidental head clash in round five holding on forcing referee Howard Foster to call it at 1:49 of round six (scores at the time of the stoppage 59-55, 59-55,  58-55 Ferreira). With her eyes on the Paris Olympics, Ferreira moves to 5-0, 3Ko’s as Lescano 1-2 in her last three bouts falls to 14-4, 4Ko’s.

 

In scheduled ten round action, Rotherham, Yorkshire, UK, super welterweight, Junaid “Star Boy” Bostan remained unbeaten with a dominant eighth round TKO stoppage of Southminster, Essex, UK, 29year old, Jack “Ginger” Martin.

 

The 22-year-old, southpaw, “Star Boy” started quickly landing with a heavy bilateral attack breaking through with a heavy left uppercut in round eight flooring “ginger” for a referee Marcus McDonnell full count at 0:49 of round eight. Bostan improves to 9-0, 7Ko’s while Martin’s three bout win streak comes to an end at 9-2, 4Ko’s.

 

Liverpool, Merseyside, UK, featherweight, Joe McGrail out pointed Newham, London’s, Ryan “The Lion” Walker over eight rounds. The 21-year-old brother to the main events Peter, began well working clean combinations off a sharp jab ran into steady resistance from the dogged, 31-year-old, “Lion” starting in the middle rounds with McGrail’s quicker hands appearing to catch the attention of referee Steve Gray who scored the tightly contested match 77-75 for the Liverpool fighter. McGrail keeps his zero at 10-0, 5Ko’s as the tougher than expected Walker 1-6 in his previous seven drops to 12-7, 3Ko’s.

In an uninspiring six round lightweight affair, Liverpool, Merseyside, UK, 22-year-old, Frankie Stringer, mostly held Muana, Para, Brazil, forward moving target Jonatas “The Marajoara Monster” Gomes De Oliveira at the end of his jab for as tiresome referee Howard Foster scored 60-54 points win. Stringer stays unbeaten at 7-0, 4Ko’s while De Oliveira 1-3 in his last four appearances drops to 7-8, 5Ko’s.

 

In eight round flyweight action, London, 23-year-old, Maisey Rose Courtney beginning with sporadic, jab hidden, right hands began well but was forced to buckle down and press on holding off Rivalta, Piemonte, Italy’s, tough, 39-year-old, Giuseppina Di Stefano for an arduous referee Steve Gray scored 78-75 points win. Courtney stays unbeaten at 6-0 as the determined Di Stefano heads home, 7-3-1, 1Ko.

 

In a showcase, six round super flyweight preliminary, Walsall, West Midlands, highly touted amateur star, Hamza Uddin impressed unveiling a tight defensively backed offensive arsenal picking apart, dropping and stopping Rhône, France, opponent Santiago San Eusebio in three rounds. Uddin kicks off 1-0, 1Ko as San Eusebio winless in his previous eight sinks to 3-8-2, 2Ko’s.

 

In a four round middleweight preliminary Liverpool, Merseyside, UK, Stephen Clarke, cut over the left eye in the final round continued his in-service training with a back and forth, blue collar referee Steve Gray scored 40-36 points win over Narva, Estonia’s, Artjom Spatar. Clarke moves to 3-0, 1Ko as Spatar now winless in his last six drops to 4-8-1, 1Ko.
