Retains WBO NABO Lightweight Title”
In Salita Promotions Hometown Main Event!
By: Travis Smith
Tuesday, February 10th, GLC Live at 20 Monroe, Grand Rapids, Michigan: In the main event of a Dmitriy Salita - Salita Promotion streamed live on DAZN, Grand Rapids, Michigan's, Joshua “JJ” Pagan retained his WBO NABO Lightweight title with a methodical ten-round unanimous decision victory over Managua, Nicaragua's, Bryan Jimenez.
Pagan established control early, thwarting the southpaw Jimenez’s aggression by maintaining range behind a measuring jab and clean counter right hands. In round four, “JJ” briefly abandoned his secure outside positioning but still held the edge, trading hooks and inside power shots with the more experienced Nicaraguan.
In round five, the 26-year-old champion returned to a more disciplined approach, working behind a sharp jab and reestablishing distance. He consistently set up and landed clean counter right hands while dictating the pace.
Trailing heavily on the judges’ scorecards, Jimenez showed urgency in round six, pressing forward and trapping Pagan on the ropes. He opened a cut over Pagan’s left eye with a hard, drilling left hand.
Showing composure after sustaining the cut, Pagan regained control in the following round. He outboxed Jimenez with sharper, heavier punches, highlighted by several big right hands. Staying disciplined on the outside the Champion continued to frustrate the game and durable challenger through the final bell, securing a wide 100-90, 99-91 times two unanimous decision victory. Pagan improving to 15-0, 5Ko’s lines himself for a few regional step-up bouts against the likes of an Albert Bell, Shu Utsuki or Sam Noakes. Jimenez, 2-2 in his last four outings drops to 18-3, 10Ko’s.
In the co-feature, Montreal, Quebec Canada's, Caroline Veyre claimed the vacant WBC World Super Featherweight title with a tenacious foul filled ten round unanimous decision over West-Vlaanderen, Belgium’s, Delfine Persoon.
The gritty, high-stakes encounter testing the composure and fortitude of both combatants and referee Benjamin Rodriguez saw the 37-year-old, 2020 Olympian, Veyre employ her superior hand and foot speed to counter the relentless, former IBF/WBC Female Lightweight and WBA Interim Super‑Featherweight Champion.
The skirmish repeatedly interrupted by grappling and fouling, precluding either contestant from gaining a flow with Persoon being deducted one point in rounds four and seven for hitting behind the head and Veyre deducted one point in rounds five and nine for holding saw the determined Canadian’s speed and technical skills shine through landing the cleaner, more obvious shots for an ugly 95-91, 94-92 bit too wide 98-88 unanimous decision win.
The new vacant WBC 130-pound titlist. Veyre improves to 11-1 as the, 41-year-old, Persoon with her first defeat since an August 2020 ten round points loss to “The Bray Bomber”, Katie Taylor slips to 50-4, 20Ko’s.
Grand Rapids, Michigan, unbeaten super welterweight, Justin Lacey-Pierce battled Albuquerque, New Mexico’s, Jose “Guerrero” Sanchez to closely contested eight round majority draw.
The action easily defined as a contest for real estate the taller, longer Michigander’s persistent outside boxing versus the seasoned veteran Sanchez push inside would see the steady Mexican have his moments closing the space backing Lacey-Pierce to the ropes for some clean body work in the middle rounds.
Pierce saving his best for last closed well reclaiming the spacing with his jab and timely accurate counter-rights hands sending the competitive contest to the judges whose scorecards were announced 78-74 Lacey-Pierce, 77-75 Sanchez and 76-76 for a split decision draw. Holding his unbeaten status Lacey-Pierce moves to 13-0-1, 7Ko’s as Sanchez ends a three-bout skid at 14-6-2, 4Ko’s.
In a minor step-up bout, Flint, Michigan, rising heavyweight prospect, Sardius Simmons maintained his momentum with a hard fought six round six round unanimous decision win over Cleburne, Texas, Jonathan Lee Rice. Missing any obvious finishing touch or persona, the 32-year-old, former amateur standout, Simmons, a southpaw, maneuvered his way around the 28‑year‑old, Texan keeping his spacing with timely punching grabbing an experience gaining 59-55, 58-56 times two unanimous decision win. Simmons moves to 6-0, 3Ko’s. Rice three bout victory run closes at 5-4, 3Ko’s.
In six round action, Grand Rapids, Michigan middleweight, Joseph Hicks returned to the win column with a one-sided points win over Rayne, Louisiana, seasoned journeyman, Todd Manuel. Hicks solid defense, pace and space control with some crisp accurate punching controlled the action throughout boxing his way to a 60-54 times three unanimous decision win.
Hicks entering off a June, vacant IBF USBA Super Welterweight title split decision loss to Star Boxing’s Wendy “Haitian Fire” Toussaint restarts at 13-1, 8Ko’s. Manuel, 3-4 in his last seven bouts crossing the opponent defining line sinks to 24-25-1, 7Ko’s.
In an all Michigan, showcase super featherweight contest, Dearborn, Michigan, Garrett Rice stayed unbeaten with a dominant four round unanimous decision victory over Grand Rapids, Michigan, Charles Scott Jr.
The superior skilled and defensively sound Rice controlled the pace from the opening bell with some high-volume accurate punching for a one way “shut-out” 40-36 times three unanimous decision win. Rice improves to 2-0, 1Ko while Scott still winless drops to 0-3.
In a four round welterweight preliminary bout, Grand Rapids, Michigan, Ulysses "Lil Uzi" Campos stayed perfect with a third round TKO stoppage of Orlando, Florida’s, Teon “Trouble-Man” McGee. Campos climbs to 5-0, 5Ko’s. McGee winless in last four, stopped in last two drops to 1-4, 1Ko.

Salita Promotions: Founded in 2010 by former world-title challenger Dmitriy Salita, Salita Promotions has evolved from a grassroots endeavor into a powerhouse of the American boxing landscape. Born from Salita’s firsthand experience in the ring, the company was built on a singular mission: to provide a bridge for elite prospects to cross over into world championship status. Over the last decade, the firm has become synonymous with the "renaissance" of the sport in the Midwest, particularly in the boxing stronghold of Detroit.
Salita’s reputation is rooted in an uncanny ability to identify raw potential and curate it for the global stage. The promotional house famously steered the careers of heavyweight contenders Jarrell Miller and Otto Wallin, elevating them from regional prospects to headliners in some of the division's biggest international clashes. Today, the company continues this tradition through Big Time Boxing USA, a developmental series broadcast on DAZN. The platform has filled a critical industry void, providing rising stars with the television exposure and high-level opposition necessary to build a sustainable fanbase.
Perhaps Salita’s most enduring legacy is its role as the premier advocate for women’s boxing. By signing and meticulously promoting Claressa "The GWOAT" Shields, the company didn't just manage an athlete; it moved an entire industry. Salita was instrumental in securing historic, multi-million dollar deals for Shields, including the groundbreaking 2025 partnership with Wynn Records. This $8 million venture represents a new industry model, fusing high-stakes pugilism with music and mainstream culture to amplify the profiles of female fighters beyond the traditional sports pages.
Beyond the ring, Salita Promotions is a leader in media-forward strategy. By leveraging strategic partnerships and a robust digital presence, the company ensures its fighters remain culturally relevant in an era of rapidly changing media consumption. Whether revitalizing historic venues like Detroit’s Fox Theatre or launching innovative cross-industry collaborations, the firm remains committed to expanding the sport’s visibility.
Today, Salita Promotions stands as a testament to the power of a "fighter-first" philosophy. With a diverse roster spanning multiple weight classes and a commitment to the growth of the global boxing community, Dmitriy Salita continues to prove that with the right platform, any prospect can become a pioneer.
