1892: Bob Fitzsimmons RTD1 Peter Maher - unofficially, as the 1896 World Heavyweight Championship on a sandbar in the Rio Grande just far enough outside of the American city of Langtry, Texas  

1896: Kid McCoy KO15 Tommy Ryan - This fight was an important part of the "Kid" McCoy legend. Ryan had been McCoy's sparring partner and notoriously hard on him. Before the fight, McCoy reportedly played a trick on Ryan, using flour on his face to appear pale and frail and claiming to be ill with consumption.Falling for the ruse, Ryan reportedly took it easy on McCoy early in the fight, and by the 15th round, McCoy knocked him out. This upset victory helped establish McCoy's reputation as a tricky and dangerous fighter.
