Marco Huck Marks Comeback
Outworking Pejsar Over Ten!
By: Alfred Zimmerman
Saturday, February 14th, Heristo Arena, Halle, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany: Headlining a Ricardo Diaz, Amar Ismailat promotion titled “Diazslan Fight Night” streamed live on DAZN, Berlin, Germany’s former WBO Cruiserweight Champion, Marco “Kapt'n” Huck returning from a roughly twenty months of inactivity delivered a controlled, experience-driven performance rather than the wild, explosive style that defined his cruiserweight prime ten round unanimous decision win over Plzen, Czech Republic’s fellow 41 year old, Vaclav Pejsar.
The opening two rounds were competitive and somewhat scrappy heavyweight matter with Pejsar finding occasional success with the jab and body shots while Huck started cautiously behind his own jab and right hand to the body. From the third round onward, however, the “Kapt'n” began to assert himself, increasing his output and landing firmer right hands and left hooks. A late surge in the fourth round, highlighted by a sharp uppercut that shook Pejsar, signaled a shift in momentum.
Through the middle rounds, Huck’s steady pressure, higher work rate, and cleaner punching separated him from the durable Czech. Pejsar remained upright and game but struggled to match Huck’s volume and variety, particularly as the fight wore on. In the final three rounds, Huck had his clearest edge, maintaining control, finishing combinations with authority, and closing the tenth round strongly to remove any doubt about the decision. While Pejsar may have nicked one of the early rounds, Huck clearly edged the majority of the contest round three forward was strangely announced the ten round unanimous decision winner with no scores given.
The performance demonstrated that even at age 41 Huck, unbeaten since a September 2017 ten round TKO loss to Oleksandr Usyk, now 44-5-1, 28Ko’s can still complete go ten solid rounds at heavyweight with discipline and conditioning, even after a lengthy layoff.
Post-fight, Huck stated via translator: "I wanted to keep the fight from going the distance, but ring rust played a lot of effect in this fight. Next time I will come back a better fighter. I will come back faster than you might think. I'm healthy, I'm not injured, so I'll be back soon."
However, the bout underscored his evolution into a managing veteran who relies more on ring IQ and pressure than explosiveness. While still a recognizable name capable of headlining in Germany against limited or fringe opposition, this outing suggested that a serious run against the division’s top heavyweights is very unlikely. Pejsar 2-2 in his last four outings fell to 26-23, 21Ko’s.
