"Hennessy Edges Bouttell

In Bloody 10-Round War To Claim Title Shot"!

By: Alfred Zimmerman

Saturday, January 31st, Copper Box Arena, Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, Hackney Wick, Middlesex, United Kingdom: In the main event of a Benjamin Shalom – Boxxer bill streamed on DAZN, Sevenoaks, Kent, Francesca Hennessy claimed the vacant WBC Silver Bantamweight title with a grueling ten round majority decision over Shanghai, China based Brit, Ellie Bouttell.

The intense action, marked by scrappy exchanges and an accidental head clash leaving Hennessy with a cut on her forehead in round two and Bouttell bleeding under her right eye near the close of round three was just the beginning.

The 21-year-old, Hennessy moving behind an active jab leading to some high action exchanges with relentless China based Bouttell working the body would spiral into many furious exchanges seeing the 29-year-old, Bouttell’s tireless aggression and "industrious" pace matched by Hennessy’s cleaner more noticeable punching gaining her an edge on the judges’ cards which were announced 95-95, 97-93 and 96-94 for Hennesy. Hennessy one step closer to a world title shot against undisputed champion Cherneka Johnson moves to 8-0, 1Ko as Bouttell with her first defeat slips to 7-1, 2Ko’s.

In the scheduled eight round light heavyweight co-feature, Oss, Netherlands, Gradus Kraus scored a clinical second round stoppage of Glasgow, Scotland, veteran, Boris “The Blade” Crighton.

Kraus set the pace and the distance early dropping “The Blade” in round one with a digging left hook to the body. Stepping up the pressure in round two Kraus returned Crighton to the canvas with a sharp combination. Beating referee AMY Pu’s eight count a second time Kraus immediately closed the distance and landed a final, punishing body blow forcing referee Pu to wave off the contest at the 1:59 of round two. Kraus back to his power punching ways moves to 10-0, 9Ko’s as Crighton stopped in three of his last four bouts drops to 13-7, 7Ko’s
