The International Boxing Hall of Fame (IBHOF) located in Canastota, New York, the International Boxing Hall of Fame stands as the spiritual home of “The Sweet Science.” Established in 1989, the Hall honors the greatest fighters, trainers, promoters, journalists, and contributors who have shaped boxing’s rich legacy. What began as a community tribute to hometown champions Carmen Basilio and Billy Backus has grown into a global institution celebrating the sport’s most iconic names.
The museum’s exhibits showcase championship belts, gloves, and rare memorabilia chronicling boxing history from the bare-knuckle era to the modern day. Each June, fans and legends from around the world converge on Canastota for the Induction Weekend, a marquee event featuring autograph sessions, parades, and the official induction ceremony—often called the “World Series of Boxing.”
Organized into categories such as Modern, Old-Timer, Pioneer, Non-Participant, and Observer, the IBHOF ensures that every era and facet of the sport is recognized. More than a museum, it remains a living tribute to the endurance, artistry, and humanity that define boxing itself.
