Katie Taylor vs Amanda Serrano III

Back & Forth Press Conference & Face Off!

(April 10th) Katie Taylor vs Amanda Serrano kickoff press conference at Madison Square Garden in NYC. Also on the card Alycia Baumgardner puts her undisputed titles on the line versus Jennifer Miranda in the co main event.

The Most Valuable Promotions (MVP) promoted highly anticipated trilogy fight between Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano, is scheduled for July 11th, at scene of their first meeting The Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

The historic event will be streamed live on Netflix and will feature an all-women’s boxing card, headlined by Taylor vs. Serrano III, marking a significant milestone in women’s sports.

Katie Taylor (24-1, 6 KOs), Ireland’s two-division undisputed champion, will defend her undisputed super lightweight title against Amanda Serrano (47-3-1, 31 KOs), the former undisputed featherweight champion from Puerto Rico. Taylor previously defeated Serrano in their first two encounters: a split decision win in April 2022 at Madison Square Garden and a unanimous decision victory in November 2024 at AT&T Stadium. Their rivalry has captivated the boxing world, and this third bout is expected to be another electrifying chapter in their storied history.

Katie Taylor on her victories over Serrano: "She has to respect the decisions. If you look at those fights, you can clearly see that I won those two fights. It's insane. It's ridiculous really. It's really, really insane that she thinks she won those fights. Of course I won. It was an amazing fight. We've had two of the best fights in the history of boxing".

Amanda Serrano on the disputed outcomes: "It sucks that it takes three judges who see something completely different, but millions of people saw it another way".

Taylor addressing Serrano's push for 12 three-minute rounds: "I think we shook on it dependent on if you won the fight, but regardless I think it’s a matter of principle that the challenger shouldn’t be dictating the terms of the fight. I am 2-0 here and I'm in the driver’s seat here and that's only right".

Serrano responding to Taylor's stance: "You shook on it, not knowing whether I was going to win or lose, Katie. I respect you and I will continue to respect you in and out of the ring, Katie, but we did shake on it. If you say you call the shots, you could have called the shots that day".

Taylor critiquing Serrano's argument for longer rounds: "At the end of the day, I think the point of [you fighting] three-minute rounds was to prove to people that you get more knockouts. How many knockouts did you get in your 12 three-minute rounds? Zero".

Amanda Serrano on the significance of the event: "Listen, this is truly a great opportunity, not just for Katie and I, but for all these incredible women up here right now. This is a great opportunity for all of them to shine and they're going to do that come Friday night, July 11".

Katie Taylor reflecting on her career: "Looking back at my whole career, this is the proudest moment of my whole career right now. Headlining this show—an all-female card. Thanks so much to MVP for this amazing opportunity, not just for an all-female card, but a top-quality all-female card. This is one of the best women's sporting events in history".

The undercard for this event is equally historic, featuring a lineup of world-class talent. Alycia Baumgardner (15-1, 7 KOs) will defend her undisputed super featherweight titles against undefeated Spaniard Jennifer Miranda (12-0, 1 KO) in the co-main event. Ellie Scotney, the IBF and WBO super bantamweight champion, will face WBC champion Yamileth Mercado in a unification bout. Additionally, IBF bantamweight champion Shurretta Metcalf will take on Dina Thorslund for unified bantamweight titles. With six of the top fifteen pound-for-pound female fighters on the card—four of whom rank in the top ten—this event is being hailed as the most stacked women’s boxing card in history.

During the press conference, Taylor and Serrano engaged in a spirited debate regarding the fight format. Serrano advocated for 12 three-minute rounds, citing her experience with this format during her October 2023 fight against Danila Ramos. However, Taylor stood firm on maintaining the traditional women’s championship structure of ten two-minute rounds. This discussion has added yet another layer of intrigue to an already compelling matchup.

MVP co-founders Jake Paul and Nakisa Bidarian emphasized their commitment to elevating women’s boxing through this groundbreaking event. To enhance fan engagement, MVP has partnered with Elevate to offer exclusive VIP packages that include premium seating, behind-the-scenes access, and unique experiences tailored for attendees.

The Taylor vs. Serrano trilogy promises to be more than just a fight—it is a celebration of women’s boxing and its growing prominence on the global stage. Fans can expect an unforgettable night of high-stakes competition and historic moments that will further solidify the legacy of these two legendary fighters.
