“Haitian Fire” Wendy Toussaint Looks To Make

A Statement vs Jerome Jones October 28th

On Joe DeGuardia’s Star Boxing “Rockin’ Fights” 45

Card At The Paramount In Huntington, New York!

(September 1st) On October 28 at The Paramount, super welterweight, WENDY “HAITIAN FIRE” TOUSSAINT (14-2- 6KO’s) returns to his adoptive hometown of Huntington, New York, in an 8-round super welterweight bout against, JERMONE JONES (7-1 6KO’s) of Phoenix, Arizona at Joe DeGuardia’s Star Boxing “Rockin’ Fights” 45.

Toussaint-Jones will be chief support to Toussaint’s sparring partner, and Star Boxing stablemate ALEX “EL TORO” VARGAS (13-0 5KO’S, Bellport, NY) who steps up in a 10 round super lightweight main event against MATT “SWEET CHILD” CONWAY (23-3 9KO’S, Pittsburgh, PA).

Wendy Toussaint certainly showed the boxing world what he was made of in his last fight. On June 3rd, Wendy could hardly see the bright lights of Detroit’s Little Caesars Arena (home of the Detroit Pistons and Detroit Red Wings) as his face was covered in crimson blood from a gnarly three-inch gash on his forehead caused by a head clash with hometown favorite Ardreal Holmes Jr. Wendy was seemingly on his way to victory prior to the clash and was breaking down Holmes’ will and local fan support.  With the blood streaming down his face, Wendy begged the ringside doctor allow the action to continue, to the absolute awe and respect of the Detroit (Holmes) fans in attendance and the world watching on DAZN. Eventually the cut was determined to be too severe, and the fight was stopped by the referee in the 8th round. The bout went to the score cards in which Toussaint was robbed of a career defining victory, dropping a highly questionable split decision. Clearly, Toussaint returns home on October 28th seeking vengeance.

“Reflecting on my last fight in Detroit, Michigan, it's clear that the crowd’s passion and opinions of the results were strong,” said Toussaint. “The judges' scores raised eyebrows, but that's the unpredictable nature of the sport we love. I respect the effort of my opponent, Ardreal Holmes Jr., and I acknowledge the intense fight we both had. Despite the cut that brought an early end to our bout, I know I showed I was willing to leave it all in the ring. I'm taking the lessons learned from that experience and channeling them into my upcoming fight on October 28th. Every match is an opportunity to showcase determination and growth, and I'm committed to delivering a performance that reflects that. Thank you to everyone who supports me on this journey."

Across from Toussaint will be Memphis born super welterweight “Quadruple J” Jermone Jamar Jones Jr., now living, training, and fighting out of Phoenix, Arizona. The heavy-handed Jones has won 6 of his 7 professional victories by knockout and will pose a one punch KO threat for Toussaint at any given moment in their 8-round bout.  Jones is coming off a well fought battle with undefeated Farid Ngoga, this past June in Phoenix. Jones is not backing down from an opportunity to showcase his skills in New York and seeks the spoils of victory.

Jones had this to say about the fight, “I wanted to fight two more times before the year is over with and that opportunity came up October 28. I’m going to be in New York, and I can’t wait.  I wanted to thank Star Boxing, Joe DeGuardia, Tony and Leo for putting this together and for the opportunity to fight in the big city. I’m coming to take a bite out of the big apple!”

Toussaint-Jones is promoted by Joe DeGuardia’s Star Boxing and is proudly sponsored by Jamaica Ash. Rockin’ Fights 45 will take place on Saturday, October 28, live from The Paramount in Huntington NY (370 New York Ave., Huntington, NY 11743). Doors open at 6:30 PM. Tickets are available at www.StarBoxing.com and www.Ticketmaster.com.

Alex “El Toro” Vargas and Matt “Sweet Child” Conway

To Clash In Star Boxing’s October 28th

“Rockin Fights” 45 Main Event!

(August 18th) Star Boxing proudly presents an electrifying main event featuring Long Island's undefeated super lightweight sensation, ALEX "EL TORO" VARGAS (13-0 5KO’s, Bellport, NY), who will square off against fierce challenger, MATT "SWEET CHILD" CONWAY (23-3 9KO’s), hailing from Pittsburgh, PA. Mark your calendars for October 28, as The Paramount in Huntington will transform into a battleground for what is slated to be a captivating main event and a night of boxing that will shake the foundations of The Paramount!.

Vargas is a hometown hero and newly admitted Suffolk County Police Officer with fast hands and stellar footwork. Star Boxing has been molding Vargas into its next huge draw from the Paramount, like its prior success with Chris Algieri and Joe Smith, Jr, both of whom went from Paramount regulars to world champions.  Vargas now steps into his first 10 round fight, as a result of his previous 13 victories, where he has showcased a poised and calculated yet explosive style that has made him a true fan favorite.

“I am really excited for my first ten-rounder in another step-up fight,” said Vargas. “I can’t wait to get back to work and go 14-0 in front of another sold out crowd at The Paramount on October 28!”

Opposite Vargas stands the difficult task in veteran Matt Conway, a product of Pittsburgh's gritty streets. Conway has made a name for himself in the Pittsburgh area, and across the USA, including under the bright lights of Las Vegas, against then undefeated Gabriel Flores. This will be Conway’s first fight in New York. As a twenty-six-fight veteran with an impressive record, Conway will be the toughest test and by far the most experienced fighter Vargas has ever faced.

“I’m feeling great, and I’m excited for this opportunity,” said Conway. “I’ve been training hard, and I know my opponent is training hard as well. I am looking forward to putting on an exciting show for the fans!”

The stage is set at The Paramount, the #1 Pollstar club venue in the world, that has witnessed some truly unforgettable “Rockin’ Fights” bouts. On October 28, in a ten-round battle of two men determined to rise the ranks to world-wide recognition, Vargas and Conway will lock horns in a fight that promises to leave spectators on the edge of their seats.

Star Boxing CEO and Hall of Fame Promoter JOE DEGUARDIA had this to say about the highly anticipated main event, "This is the kind of main event that makes the Rockin’ Fights series so special. Vargas has been developing here at the Paramount since his pro debut in 2018, and now he is on the precipice of becoming a real player at the top level of the sport. Standing in his way is a ‘steel curtain’ as the Pittsburgh veteran has his sights on victory as well.  Vargas and Conway have the heart, the skill, and the fire to deliver a fight that fans will remember, and I am looking forward to it.”

"Rockin' Fights" 45 is scheduled for October 28, 2023 at the Pollstar #1 World Rated venue and Star Boxing's home away from home, The Paramount, in Huntington, NY.

About Star Boxing

Star Boxing, Inc. has been in operation since 1992. Founded by Joe DeGuardia, its President and CEO, Star Boxing has worked to produce some of the most exciting and memorable boxing events in recent history. Star has continued to work with and develop a number of very exciting world champions, world-rated contenders and young prospects. Star has consistently brought credibility, integrity, and exciting fights to the boxing industry.

Star Boxing is among the highest regarded and most rapidly expanding boxing organizations in the country. Its premier stature is reinforced by its ability to develop talent and maintain a high profile within the industry and with its broadcast affiliates. Star Boxing regularly stages and televises premium quality boxing matches throughout the world. The swift ascendancy of Star Boxing is largely attributable to the sporting expertise and innovative business vision of the organization’s founder and President, Joe DeGuardia. As the son of a professional prizefighter, DeGuardia can truly boast a lifetime association with the sport of boxing. DeGuardia grew up in the Bronx, learning boxing at his father’s neighborhood boxing gym. He fought his first official bout at the age of nine, and won the Golden Gloves Welterweight crown in 1988, one year before his graduation from law school. Following his admission to the bar, DeGuardia joined the Bronx District Attorney’s Office as a prosecutor. He then went on to develop a successful, Bronx-based independent law practice.

Notwithstanding his work as a lawyer, DeGuardia always remained professionally active in the boxing world. This involvement became a full-time dedication in 1990, when he took over management of the Morris Park Boxing Club from his father. In his new capacity as chief operator of the club, DeGuardia transformed the business into one of the busiest boxing gyms in New York, while also using it as a base from which to launch his larger business as a top boxing entrepreneur. Star Boxing, the organization that evolved out of DeGuardia’s broad experience in the boxing industry, works on a flexible business model which enables DeGuardia to develop and promote both exclusive boxing events and boxers, as well as to put together joint-sponsorship events with other major promoters. Thus, there are many different components to his portfolio of promotional ventures. Recently, Star Boxing events have been among the highest grossing, most successful events in boxing, further solidifying its position as one of the most reputable companies in the sport. Among Star’s promoted fighters and events, the Antonio Tarver vs. Roy Jones Jr. trilogy was one of the most successful trilogies in boxing history, generating over 50 million in revenue. Star Boxing shows have been broadcast on both internationally and nationally on Pay-Per-View, HBO, Showtime, ESPN, HDNet, Telemundo and MSG, as well as on the internet, through collaborative efforts with GoFightLive.TV.

Through his leadership of Star Boxing, DeGuardia has secured a reputation as among the youngest and most dynamic first-tier promoters in the business. In addition to the guidance of DeGuardia, Star has several high-level industry executives, including matchmaker Ron Katz who is widely considered one of the best matchmakers of all time. Star Boxing is also a proud member of the Boxing Promoters Association (BPA), which was formed in 2009, and is made up of over thirty of the top US Promoters. The BPA was the brainchild of DeGuardia, and his efforts in forming the organization were recognized by the fellow BPA Members, who elected DeGuardia President of the Association. Star Boxing will continue with groundbreaking shows and concepts in the years ahead, as it continues its role as an innovative leader in the exciting world of boxing.
