PBC Sets Stage For "Plant / Charlo Fall Showdown:

May 31st Card In Las Vegas To Feature

Jose Armando Resendiz & Thomas LaManna"!

(April 2nd) Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) has announced a co-headlined boxing event on May 31st, in Las Vegas, featuring Caleb Plant and Jermall Charlo in separate bouts. The event will air on Prime Video and is expected to set the stage for a potential showdown between the two fighters later this year.

In the main event, Las Vegas, Nevada, based Tennessee transplant, Caleb “Sweethands” Plant will face Nayarit, Mexico, WBA #15 contender Jose Armando Resendiz, 15-2, 11Ko’s in a 12-round bout.

The 32-year-old, former IBF Super Middleweight Champion, Plant, 23-2, 14Ko’s is coming off a ninth-round TKO victory over Trevor McCumby in September 2024 and is looking to build momentum after his March 2023 loss to David Benavidez.  At 26 years old, Resendiz, rebounded from an eighth-round stoppage loss to Elijah Garcia in September 2023 with a fifth-round TKO win over Fernando Paliza earlier this year.

The co-feature will see Houston, Texas, 35-year-old, former WBC Middleweight Champion Jermall “Hitman” Charlo, 33-0, 22Ko’s return to the ring after an 18-month layoff to face Millville, New Jersey, 33-year-old, Thomas “Cornflake” LaManna, 39-5-1, 18Ko’s. Charlo last fought in November 2023, earning a unanimous decision over Jose Benavidez Jr., and this bout marks his move to the super middleweight division. LaManna, on a nine-fight winning streak since his first-round KO loss to Erislandy Lara in May 2021, most recently scored a second-round TKO victory over Noe Alejandro Lopez in March.

This card is part of PBC's plan to heighten interest in a Plant vs Charlo clash later this year, provided both fighters secure victories. Their rivalry dates back to a heated altercation in July 2023 during the Terence Crawford vs. Errol Spence Jr. weigh-in, where Plant slapped Charlo following an exchange of insults. Both fighters are expected to be heavy favorites in their respective bouts.

Venue, ticket and undercard information for the featuring Caleb Plant / Jose Armando Resendiz and Jermall Charlo / Thomas LaManna event will air live on Prime Video as a non-pay-per-view broadcast.

Amazon Prime Video has become a significant player in boxing broadcasting, partnering with Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) to stream live events, including both Pay-Per-View (PPV) and non-PPV fights. This partnership began in late 2023 after PBC's previous deal with Showtime Sports ended. Prime Video now airs 12-14 fights annually, showcasing high-profile matchups and rising stars in the sport.

The platform offers flexibility for viewers, allowing both Prime members and non-members to purchase and watch PPV events. In addition to live broadcasts, Amazon integrates features like merchandise sales, ticket promotions, and other interactive elements to enhance the viewing experience. Recent notable events include Gervonta Davis vs. Lamont Roach Jr. and Sebastian Fundora's title defense against Chordale Booker.

Prime Video's entry into boxing aligns with its broader strategy to become a leading entertainment destination by offering diverse sports content. This move places Amazon in competition with platforms like DAZN and ESPN, further expanding boxing's reach through digital streaming.
