Rolly Romero: “I called this years ago that we’d fight at welterweight. I’ve long outgrown 140. I’ve outgrown 135 a long time ago.”

Devin Haney: “I spent some time with my family. I just had a baby. I wanted to rest and recover and come back at the right time. When I came back, I wanted to fight the best fighters in the world. I didn’t want to just face anyone regular; I wanted to fight a two-time world champion like Jose Ramirez.”

Jose Ramirez: “I think people underestimate my speed and power, but I’m ready to put it together on May 2. If you thought I was strong at 140, just watch me at 147.”

Turki Alalshikh, an advisor to the Royal Court of Saudi Arabia and chairman of the General Entertainment Authority, acquired The Ring Magazine in November 2024 for $10 million from Oscar De La Hoya's Golden Boy Enterprises. This purchase marks a significant development in the boxing world, as Alalshikh aims to revitalize the iconic publication. One of his primary goals is to restore the print version of the magazine, which had ceased publication for two years. The print edition will be available in both the U.S. and U.K. markets, bringing back a tangible connection for fans.

Alalshikh emphasizes that The Ring Magazine will remain fully independent under his ownership, with no involvement from Riyadh Season. This independence is crucial for maintaining the magazine's credibility and reputation in the boxing community. Additionally, Alalshikh plans to enhance the magazine's digital presence by launching a new state-of-the-art website and mobile app. These digital platforms will provide fans with easy access to news, rankings, and analysis, helping to expand the magazine's reach.

The Ring Rankings, a hallmark of the magazine's authority in boxing, will be restored to their previous mechanism. An independent panel will be responsible for maintaining these rankings, ensuring that they continue to reflect the true hierarchy of fighters in each weight class. Furthermore, Alalshikh is planning an annual awards ceremony to celebrate excellence in boxing, recognizing achievements such as Fighter of the Year and Knockout of the Year. A line of Ring Magazine merchandise is also in development, allowing fans to show their support for the brand.

The boxing community has responded positively to this development, with former owner Oscar De La Hoya expressing confidence in Alalshikh's stewardship. De La Hoya believes that Alalshikh's passion for boxing will help grow the brand and improve content quality. Alalshikh's involvement in boxing extends beyond The Ring Magazine, as he has been instrumental in organizing high-profile boxing events in Saudi Arabia. His acquisition of The Ring Magazine is part of his broader efforts to become a major force in boxing, both in terms of promotion and media coverage.
