With echoes of a potential WBA Final Elininator clash between Joshua Buatsi and Dan Azeez discussed earlier this year it has now been made official with the two unbeaten light heavyweight contenders set to square off in October 21st, at O2 Arena, Greenwich, London, United Kingdom.

Based on their #1 and #2 WBA rankings, the winner of this very attractive match will almost certainly be awarded a mandatory challerger shot at reigning WBA Champion Dmitry Bivol, 21-0, 11Ko’s in due time.

Buatsi, 17-0, 13Ko’s recording an eleventh round TKO stoppage of Ricards Bolotniks August 2021, the 30-year-old London based Ghanaian comes off 2022 and 2023 points wins over Craig Richards and Pawel Stepien respectively.

The 33-year-old, BBBofC British and Commonwealth Boxing Council Light Heavyweight Champion, Azeez, 20-0, 13Ko’s banging his way past Reece Cartwright, Shakan Pitters, Rocky Fielding and Thomas Faure comes in off a July 15th eight round points win over durable journeyman Khalid Graidia.

Scheduled in chief support Shepherd's Bush, London, based unbeaten, Nigerian, Mikael Lawal, will defend his BBBofC British Cruiserweight title against fellow Londoner, Isaac Chamberlain.

The 28-year-old, Lawal, 17-0, 11Ko’s on a four bout KO streak while the 29-year-old, Chamberlain, 15-2, 8Ko’s having a four bout KO run of his own interrupted by a July 2022 twelve round unanimous decision loss to Chris Billam-Smith enters off an eight round points win over Dylan Bregeon in June.
