Azim / Simpson Stoppage Winners!

Saturday, February 1st, Wembley Arena, Wembley, London, United Kingdom: Leading a Benjamin Shalom, Boxxer promotion, Slough, Berkshire, United Kingdom, Adam Azim claimed the vacant IBO World Super Lightweight title with a striking ninth-round stoppage of Woodland Hills, California, based 35-year-old, Kazakhstan, Sergey “Samurai” Lipinets.
The 22-year-old, Azim putting his superior speed, technique and fight plan on full display dominating the 35-year-old, Samurai” in round three with a tight left hook. Despite losing points for low blows in rounds four and seven the aggressive Brit stayed on the attack taking the fight to Lipinets closing the show with a hard, accurate volley of unanswered punches forcing referee Steve Gray to step in and stop the bout at 0:33 of round nine. Azim calling out Josh Taylor improves to 13-0, 10Ko’s as Lipinets 2-3-1 in his last six outings drops to 18-4-1, 13Ko’s.
In the semi-main attraction, Barnsley, Yorkshire, UK, Callum Simpson successfully made the second defense of his Commonwealth Boxing Council Super Middleweight title stopping Ghana’s, Elvis “Soldier” Ahorgah in five rounds.
Simpson just three weeks off a second round TKO stoppage off Steed Woodall, January 11th, started hard swapping some clean shots, gradually settling in and letting his superior skill and technique take control, working behind a high guard and peppering jab began turning the “Soldier” into sharp shots opening up the desperate wide swinger mixing his work up and down hurting Ahorgah with a hard chopping right hand, dropping him face first with a sharp follow-up combination forcing referee Howard Foster to stop the fight at 1:53 of the fifth round. With back to back TKO wins, Simpson improves to 17-0, 12Ko’s as Ahorgah’s three bout stoppage run comes to a close at 13-3, 12Ko’s.
