About Matchroom Boxing
After the success of snooker in the 1980s, Matchroom Sport moved into boxing with two small hall shows followed by Frank Bruno v Joe Bugner at Tottenham Hotspur’s ground – the biggest boxing event of 1987. That launched the company into the boxing big-time, a position it has maintained ever since.
Through the 1990s Matchroom Sport’s boxing roster featured many of the biggest names in the sport including Lennox Lewis, Nigel Benn, Chris Eubank, Steve Collins and Naseem Hamed, all in world title fights and it continues to work with some of the biggest names in UK boxing including Audley Harrison, the 2000 Olympic Super-Heavyweight gold medalist.
Over the years, Matchroom Sport has built up long-standing relationships with broadcasters around the world and with the advent of the Prizefighter phenomenon, the company’s boxing division has never been in a stronger position.
From fantastic six round scraps between the sport’s journeymen, up to multi-million-dollar World Championship contests featuring the above fighters, the Pro Box series has it all. Each show is packed with the very best in boxing action in a series that encompasses almost 25 years of Matchroom Sport’s commitment to bringing the highest quality to the global television market.

Espino made his debut last February in Tijuana, Mexico, where the Las Vegas youngster showed his intent straight away with a second round KO win.
The Mexican-American 20 year old has four KOs to his name from his six wins in the pro game to date, and the decorated amateur has amassed invaluable experience already, not least from his spot on the undercard of the Middleweight unification blockbuster in Las Vegas between Canelo Alvarez and Daniel Jacobs last Cinco de Mayo weekend, where he also had the ear of former two-time World Super-Middleweight ruler Carl Froch.
“The Prospects” - Austin Williams!
(April 17th) Austin Williams is the latest rising star in focus in Matchroom Boxing USA’s YouTube series on ‘The Prospects’.
Williams made his debut last April in Los Angeles and the Houston based talent has impressed greatly, winning all five of his fights to date, with four of those wins coming inside the distance.
‘Ammo’, who turns 24 on May 3, travelled to the UK to fight on the undercard of the WBSS Super-Lightweight final between Josh Taylor and Regis Prograis, and his private jet trip with promoter Eddie Hearn to watch another Matchroom Boxing show, experiencing the raucous atmosphere of a Lewis Ritson fight night in Newcastle.
That trip is just one of the exclusive behind the scenes moments with Williams, as The Prospects: Austin Williams tracks the start in the paid ranks of the future Middleweight star, and ‘Ammo’ is the latest of Hearn’s young charges to feature in the series.
