(April 12th) The England Boxing National Amateur Championships have been held since 1880 and see the finest boxers from outside the paid ranks facing off for the most prestigious title in English amateur boxing.

Superstars such as Anthony Joshua, Tyson Fury, Carl Froch, Nicola Adams and Tony Bellew are all former champions, while Joe Calzaghe won titles at three different weights in three consecutive years before Welsh and Scottish boxing formed their own national amateur championships in 1994.

This year, the quarter-finals and semi-finals will be held on April 6th and 7th at the Harvey Hadden Sports Village in Nottingham, with the finals taking place at Manchester Central on Saturday April 13th. There are championships up for grabs across nine women’s weight classes and eleven in the men’s division.

A number of boxers from the GB Boxing Performance Programme will be involved, with the likes of Tori-Ellis Willetts, Thomas Hodgeson and Mark Dickinson hoping to impress as the race for a place in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic squad heats up, while there will also be several representatives from the UK’s armed forces in the competition.
