Alycia Baumgardner Signs Multi-Fight Promotional Deal With Eddie Hearn & Matchroom

WBC and IBO Super-Featherweight Champion

Eyes Undisputed In 2022!

(December 30th) Alycia Baumgardner has signed a multi-fight promotional deal with Eddie Hearn and Matchroom.

Baumgardner (11-1 7 KOs) burst onto the World scene with a stunning KO win over Terri Harper in Sheffield, England in November, ripping the WBC and IBO World Super-Featherweight titles from the Doncaster star in the fourth round of her first World title fight.

The 27 year old is eyeing a massive year in 2022 and has made no secret of her targets – to unify and become undisputed at 130lbs, putting both IBF and WBO champion Mikaela Mayer and WBA ruler Hyun Mi Choi on notice – and the Ohioan has made it clear to Hearn, Matchroom and co-promoters King’s Promotions what she wants, and that’s all the marbles.

"2021 was definitely a breakthrough year for me,” said Baumgardner. “I had a great experience working with Matchroom to win the WBC and IBO World titles in the UK. Signing this deal with them puts me in a position to achieve my next goal of becoming Undisputed at 130 pounds. Being on top is to stay on top and continue being the athlete I know I am.

“Have no doubt I am the top dog in my weight class and it's only a matter of time before I have all the belts to prove it. Nobody is going to stand in my way. I’ve worked very hard to stay and make my mark. I will continue making history in the sport of boxing.”

“I am delighted to welcome Alycia to the team,” said Hearn. “Alycia provided one of the KOs of the year against Terri and made the boxing world stand up and take notice that she’d arrived at the top table.

“Alycia is a terrier in the ring and demonstrated her pop with that stoppage, but she’s also a huge personality with real charisma; she is the full package and she’s going to have big fights in 2022 and beyond to prove it.”

About Matchroom Boxing

After the success of snooker in the 1980s, Matchroom Sport moved into boxing with two small hall shows followed by Frank Bruno v Joe Bugner at Tottenham Hotspur’s ground – the biggest boxing event of 1987. That launched the company into the boxing big-time, a position it has maintained ever since.

Through the 1990s Matchroom Sport’s boxing roster featured many of the biggest names in the sport including Lennox Lewis, Nigel Benn, Chris Eubank, Steve Collins and Naseem Hamed, all in world title fights and it continues to work with some of the biggest names in UK boxing including Audley Harrison, the 2000 Olympic Super-Heavyweight gold medalist.

Over the years, Matchroom Sport has built up long-standing relationships with broadcasters around the world and with the advent of the Prizefighter phenomenon, the company’s boxing division has never been in a stronger position.

From fantastic six round scraps between the sport’s journeymen, up to multi-million-dollar World Championship contests featuring the above fighters, the Pro Box series has it all. Each show is packed with the very best in boxing action in a series that encompasses almost 25 years of Matchroom Sport’s commitment to bringing the highest quality to the global television market.

Liam Paro Pens Promotional Deal With Matchroom Boxing Undefeated Australian 140lbs Talent Eyes World Title Shot!

(December 28th) Undefeated Australian Super-Lightweight talent Liam Paro has signed a long term promotional deal with Eddie Hearn's Matchroom Boxing.

The 25-year-old, Paro from Queensland has won all 22 of his professional contests since turning over in March 2016 and currently sits at No.3 in the world with the WBO and IBF.

'The Prodigy' earned a career-best win earlier this month on the Jake Paul vs. Tyron Woodley 2 undercard, outpointing previously unbeaten Puerto Rican Yomar Alamo via split decision over ten rounds.

"I’m delighted to sign with Eddie Hearn and Matchroom Boxing in what is a major move for my career," said Paro. "I’m excited to be a part of their expansion into Australia but their global platform also allows me to box in key markets such as the US and UK. With Matchroom and Ace Boxing Group behind me I know I have the right team to make big moves in the 140 pound division. I’m right on the verge of fighting for the World Title and I look forward to bringing more boxing glory back to Australia."

"This is another big signing for us in the Australian market but also on the global stage," said Matchroom Sport Chairman Eddie Hearn. "Liam is one of the best 140 pounders out there right now and at just 25 has already ranked up a perfect 22-0 record. He is already ranked as high as No.3 in the world by the WBO and IBF and with the divisions belts expected to free up this year is well placed to be another Australian World Champion. Liam will be boxing all over the world but will be also be a big part of our Australian shows in 2022."
