Frampton Outboxes Donaire, Tete Out Points Narvaez!

April 21st, The SSE Arena, Belfast, Northern Ireland: In the main event of a Frank Warren, Queensberry Promotions Belfast, Northern Ireland’s, Carl “the Jackal” Frampton claimed the interim World Boxing Organization World Featherweight Title with a persuasive twelve round unanimous decision over Bohol, Philippines former seven-time world champion Nonito “The Filipino Flash” Donaire.
Following a feeling out opening frame, hometown Frampton stepped up the action, getting off first landing sharp combinations quickly changing angles leaving the counterpunching Donaire locked and loaded.
Staying behind a solid guard Frampton the more accurate puncher established his jab bringing the fight in close trading with the step behind “Filipino Flash” until caught and rocked by a well-timed and placed Donaire uppercut in round seven.
Frampton reopening the spacing went back behind his jab working from a distance out boxing Donaire down the stretch holding off the Filipino’s lo late futile surge for a well-deserved, 117-111 times three unanimous decision win. The former IBF/WBA Super Bantamweight and WBA Featherweight Champion Frampton now the mandatory challenger to WBO Champion Oscar Valdez improves to 25-1, 14Ko’s while Donaire drops to 38-5, 24Ko’s.
In the co-feature, Mdantsane, Eastern Cape, South Africa, 30-year-old, Zolani “Last born” Tete retained his World Boxing Organization World Bantamweight Title scoring a twelve-round precision unanimous decision over Chubut, Argentina, veteran, Omar “El Huracán” Narvaez.
The power punching Tete in full charge appearing content for a full distance affair sat and easily out boxed the mostly defensive minded Narvaez coasting to a three-way 120108 unanimous decision. Tete improves to 27-3, 21Ko’s while the 42-year-old, Narvaez five bout victory run comes to a close at
