Broner's Gets Third Opponent!
(January 24th) Keeping in step with the Josh Taylor / Jack Catterall rematch it has been announced that Cincinnati, “Problem Child” Adrien Broner will get his third opponent for his BLK Prime on February 25th at the Gateway Center Arena, College Park, Georgia and his name is Michael Williams Jr.
The former WBO Super Featherweight, WBC Lightweight, WBA Welterweight and Light Welterweight Champion, Broner, 34-4-1, 24Ko’s originally set to face LA based, 36 year old, Ukrainian, Ivan “El Terrible” Redkach, 23-6-1, 18Ko’s who pulled out due to promoter problems third opponent was forced to search for a third opponent when Redkach replacement “Hammerin” Hank Lundy, 31-12-1, 14Ko’s was forced to withdraw from the match after being medically suspended by the California State Athletic Commission.
The 23-year-old, Fayetteville, North Carolina, resident Williams Jr., 20-1, 13Ko’s, 6-1 during the pandemic period rebounded form a fourth round TKO loss to North Bergen, New Jersey’s, unbeaten John Bauza, December 2021 stopping Miami, Florida, based Nicaraguan “pigeon” Julio Buitrago, 13-36, 3Ko’s in three rounds last April.
BLK Prime announced took advantage of the spotlight to also announce the co-feature, with the rescheduled lightweight clash between Las Vegas, Nevada, former IBF Lightweight Champion, Mickey “The Spirit” Bey facing off with Philadelphia, IBF Super Featherweight Champion, Tevin Farmer.
The 39-year-old, Cleveland, transplant, Bey, 23-3-1, 11Ko’s enters off a December 2019 ten-round, split decision defeat to then-unbeaten “Ferocious” George Kambosos Jr. while the 32-year-old, southpaw, Farmer, 30-5-1, 6Ko’s also enters off a loss coming off a January 30th, 2020 failed ten round split decision IBF title defense to Downey, California, 2012 Olympian ‘JoJo’ Diaz.
Broner vs. Williams Jr., taking place at the Gateway Center in Atlanta, Georgia, will broadcast worldwide on BLK Prime PPV for $39.99. More details, including ticket sales and undercard bouts, will be announced at a later date.

(January 17th) Due to circumstances out of the control of BLK Prime, Ivan Redkach (23-6-1, 18 KOs), who was intended to fight Adrien Broner (34-4-1, 24 KOs) in a 10-round welterweight main event on February 25, will now be replaced with “Hammerin” Hank Lundy (31-12-1, 14 KOs).
Broner vs. Lundy promises to be a thrilling and action-packed matchup between two battle-tested warriors who are promising to go to war. The combination of Broner's speed and power with Lundy's grit and determination is sure to make for an unforgettable night of boxing.
Broner, the former four-weight world champion and Cincinnati native, has established himself as one of the sport's most exciting and dynamic fighters today. He captured world titles in four weight classes and is known for his bold and confident style. He's a fan favorite that always put on a show.
“I’m glad they found a worthy replacement in Hank Lundy,” said Broner, from his training camp in South Florida. “Unfortunately, Redkach had to pull out, but I’m ready for whoever they put in front of me. Lundy, hailing from Philadelphia, PA, is a seasoned veteran with an impressive resume having fought Terence Crawford, Jose Zepeda, and Viktor Postol. He's known for his relentless pressure and never-say-die approach. He's been in the ring with some of the best fighters in the world and always comes to fight. He's a fan favorite guaranteed to put on a great show.
