Silgado Smashing in American Debut!

(December 18th)—It took nearly two years but undefeated Cruiserweight Santander Silgado was unleashed for the first time on American soil as he scored an impressive second round knockout over Glenn Williams that past Thursday night in North Bergen, New Jersey
Silgado scored knockdowns in each of the two rounds with booming right hands with the latter shot ending the fight. Williams got to his fight but was on unsteady legs and the fight was waved off by referee Earl Morton at 2:51 of the round.
“It feels so great”, said an ecstatic twenty-six year old Silgado who ran his perfect mark to 19-0 with seventeen knockouts.
“Many Colombians do not get an opportunity to show their skills in the United States and I am thankful for the shot. I felt a little rusty and I missed the ring during the inactivity but I quickly felt comfortable in there.”
“I need two or three more fights and I am ready to fight anybody in the Cruiserweight division”
Silgado of Monteria, Colombia but now training in Brooklyn, New York is promoted by Rob Diaz and Havoc Boxing Promotions

Amanda Serrano Claims IBF Womens Super Featherweight Title
at Havoc 911 in Brooklyn!

September 10th, Aviator Sports Complex, Brooklyn New York: In the main event of Rob Diaz Havoc Boxing 4 Brooklyn’s Amanda “The Real Deal” Serrano kept her zero while claiming the vacant IBF Super Featherweight Title with a second round stoppage of Little Rock, Arkansas rough and ready Kimberly Conner.
Serrano entering of a three bout KO streak wouldn’t have it any other way meeting the talented Conner in the center of the ring where both got as good as they gave. Connor would display her power early with a couple of hard rights but the determined Serrano would press Cnnor to the ropes allowing her to gain the edge.

Round two started with some good action with both combatants trading power shots. Serrano a southpaw began to put her punches together mixing it up to the body and head. Sensing Connor was hurt Serrano picked it up battering Conner around the ropes dropping Conner with a “Killa” left hand. Conner would make it upright but an immediate volley of power shots would convince referee Esteves he had seen enough stopping the bout at 1:45 of round two.

The very talented and popular newly crowned IBF Champion Serrano improves to 12-0-1, 8Ko’s while the tough Conner suffering her first defeat falls to 9-2-2, 4Ko’s.

In the co-feature: Brooklyn welterweight Anthony Irons inactive since May 2009 returned in what easily was Havoc’s 911 fight of the night. Iron’s started big flooring Dallas, Texas Fernando Rodriguez when the pressing Texan was caught by a Irons counter right trying to double up his hook.

Iron’s appeared and proved to be the sharper puncher but made the bout tougher on himself remaining too stationary and abandoning his jab. The middle rounds were close with both fighters landing big shots but it was in round four that Iron’s began to use his speed and counter punching separating himself from Rodriguez with a 38-37, 39-36 times two unanimous decision.
Iron’s got exactly what any fighter returning would want tough test and a solid victory. Iron’s now stands at 4-0-1, 2Ko’s while the rugged Rodriguez evens out at 6-6, 3Ko’s. Rodriguez should be getting many calls for fighters needing a solid test.

In undercard action: New York lightweight Neuky Santelises recorded an impressive pro debut banging Lajas, Puerto Rico’s Fernando Ramos body leaving him unable to answer the bell for round two leaving him winless at 0-2.
Brooklyn jr. featherweight Subryan Ramayya made his pro debut stopping
Jonathan Gonzalez with a heavy two punch combo body and head at 2:15 of round one. Gonzalez remains winless at 0-3.

Brooklyn cruiserweight Armin Mrkanovic traded homerun shots with Philly’s Kenneth Rosser through round one until backing Rosser to the corner in round two with a triple right hand staggering Rosser who wobbled until Mrkanovic re-engaged with a volley of power shots forcing the referee to stop the action at 2:02 of round two. Mrkanovic improves to 2-1, 1Ko while Rosser remains in search of his first victory at 0-2.

In a subpar super middleweight bout with both fighters in search of their first win Bronx, New York’s Alvin Acosta absent from the ring since 2005 engaged Decatur, Gorgia’s Lekan Byfield in a four round pier one brawl. The action included some wild winging power punches, punches thrown and landed after the bell and a knockdown each. Byfield appeared to gain the edge in round four after landing a big looping right pushed Acosta to the canvas resulting in a ten-eight round and a 36-36, 37-35 times majority decision for Byfield.

Brooklyn Jr. Welterweight Zachary Ochoa outclassed Augusta, Georgia’s William Ware through three before stopping the game Georgian with a vicious body assault at 2:53 of round four.

Brooklyn, New York’s slick jr. welterweight Dinmukhamed, Niyazov impressed in his pro debut using his superior hand and foot speed to out maneuver and outscore Miami, Florida’s Mateo Acosta in a one sided four round 40-36 times three unanimous decision. Acosta remains winless at 0-4-1.

Havoc Hits Aviator in Brooklyn
Starks Holds On, Martinez and Smith Get Shocked!
August 7th, Aviator Sports Arena, Brooklyn: Despite Havoc’s finest Sadam Ali, Curtis Steven’s and Will Rosinsky being pulled from the card lacking opponents Havoc Promotions still supplied an entertaining and shocking night of boxing.
The action started quick with Utica, New York light heavyweight Andy Mejias avoiding all the wild winging Bronx’s Juan Zapata had to offer going flooring the game slugger twice with big left hands the latter forcing referee Claudio to halt the action at 1:55 of round two. Mejias moves to 8-0, 4Ko’s while Zapata dives to 1-4, 1Ko.
Next up Merrick, Long Island welterweight Mike Ruiz took full advantage of Springfield, Massachusetts Noel Garcia’s lazy jab scoring a load of clean right hands allowing him to control the action relinquishing Garcia to holding and hitting. The judges scores were announced 40-36 times three giving Ruiz a shutout advancing him to 9-4, 5Ko’s while the game but unskilled Garcia drops to 2-5-1, 1Ko. (SBB saw it 40-36).
Moving on to junior lightweight action, Queens New York’s Joselito Collado zeroed in his right hand at the start of his six round bout with Miami, Florida’s Andres Ledezma (who owns a win over Gary Stark) then added a ripping left hook to the body in round two. Collado relaxed finding his rhythm in the third switching in and out of a southpaw stance to go on to out box and out point the pressing Floridian. The judges scores were read 59-55, 60-54 times two for Queen’s fighter. Collado remains unbeaten climbing to 11-0, 3Ko’s while Ledezma slips to 15-18-1, 10Ko’s. Here at SBB we called it 59-55 Collado.
In what might have been the most shocking item of the night Mastic / Shirley Long Island light heavyweight Joe “The Irish Bomber” Smith Jr. fighting his second bout in eleven days was stopped by Lawrence, Massachusetts Eddie “Thunder” Caminero under mysterious circumstances?
Nothing to do with the officiating but at 2:58 of round four mysteriously Smith appeared to quit for no clear reason. Smith fighting behind a tight defense was landing the much heavier shots both body and head when a series of unanswered events lead to the “Irish Bomber” turning his back as if to stop fighting forcing referee Claudio to call the bout at 2: 58 of round four. During the first two rounds Smith appeared several times to react to Caminero’s head but their was no obvious banging but Smith began to show swelling over both eyes.
Between rounds two and three Smith appeared to motion outside the ring as if there was something wrong with his mouth immediatly a story in press row began to circulate that Smith had complained of a toothache prior to the bout in corner Smith appeared to be stretching his jaw which brought in the ringside doctor.
Towards the close of round three and into round four Smith’s aggressiveness appeared to subside and Caminero picked it up. With no clear punch landed prior to Smiths actions it is unclear what caused the tough light heavy to make the move. Report surfaced that Smith was taken to the hospital by ambulance citing reasons from a broken jaw to a lacerated tongue. Only to be beaten out with rumors that the fighter failed to remove a tongue ring causing the lacerated tongue.
Allowing Smith his privacy and being unable to verify any of the medical facts at this time you must credit Caminero for seizing the moment and the win as he came to fight. The scorecards were 29-28 both ways and 30-27 Smith at the time of the stoppage. I had it 30-27 Smith at the stoppage with “The Bomber” landing the cleaner sharper punches. Smith suffers his first loss slipping to 6-1, 6Ko’s while Caminero moves to 7-3, 6Ko’s. (Having seen Smith battle many times through the amateurs and all his pro bouts there is no quit in this kid so SBB will be following up on his medical status and a report will follow).
After a short break up and coming unbeaten Brooklyn super middleweight Lennox “2 Sharp”Allen kept his zero but was held to a eight round majority draw by Atlanta, Georgia’s slick Darnell Boone. Facing unbeaten talent just like he had in five of his last six outings (Craig McEwan, Erislandy Lara, Edwin Rodriguez, Brandon Gonzales) Boone used some slick movement and cagey inside fighting keeping the unbeaten southpaw Allen off balance. Boone picked his spots leaping in and out winging odd shots grabbing on then punch out of the clinches. Boone’s movement and angles continually turned Allen who strangely enough wasn’t too “2 Sharp” appearing to have left his usually straight punches home leaving it in the judges with one judge calling it 78-74, Allen while the two remaining judges saw it even at 76-76. Lacking a big shot or knockdown scored by either fighter and the rounds very close here at SBB I agreed with the latter two judges at 76 a piece. Allen stands at 12-0-1, 7Ko’s while Boone who finds himself at 17-15-3, 7Ko’s is slicker than his record suggests.
To the delight of the crowd Staten Island, New York’s Junior lightweight Gary “Kid” Stark’s Jr. was up next. Stark’s returning to the ring after suffering a third round TKO loss to Antonio Escalante April 2009 one of just three losses “The Kid” met a game Leopoldo “El Tiburon” Arrocha from Panama City, Panama.
Stark’s always entertaining looked to box but the opening round saw a lot of holding. Starks was making his mark with lead and straight rights while Arrocha looked to even things out with his left hook. Stark continued to score with his right through round two but the tough Arrocha scored a good right hand left hook combination in the third that appeared to rock “The Kid.”
In round four the action picked up with both fighters turning it up while it appeared Stark was gaining the edge “El Tiburon” two handed pushed “The Kid” to the canvas drawing a warning. Then to the shock of most at ringside Arrocha was deducted a point for a low blow without a warning.
Stark began to move and box in the fifth appearing to take control but “El Tiburon” wasn’t finished. The tough Panamanian continued to press the action in the sixth and final round but “The Kid” scored with some clean counter punching to grab the round and in my eyes a four rounds to two decision. The scores were a shock at 57-57, 58-56, 58-57 considering if you forget the lost point it would have been a draw.
In the evenings main event Miami, Florida’s Reinaldo Lopez shocked Brooklyn, New York’s Maurico Martinez dropping him three times in the opening round to win the vacant New York State JR. Featherweight Title.
In a match-up of southpaws Lopez began his assault attack at the opening bell blasting Martinez with a winging right hook in the opening seconds dropping him for an extended Steve Willis eight count. Martinez looking to survive was unable to grab on or keep his distance as the aggressive Floridian stormed ahead landing a second booming right hook dumping Martinez for a second Willis eight count. When the action resumed Lopez picked up where he left off shocking and dropping Martinez with another heavy right hook causing referee Willis to stop the bout at 1:21 of round one. Improving to 30-9-2, 22Ko’s Lopez grabs the NYS JR. Featherweight Title while the shocked Martinez drops to 35-10-1, 23Ko’s.
