Maidana vs Alexander, Broner vs Perez February 25th in St Louis

(February 13th) February 25th Golden Boy Promotions headlines the interesting welterweight match-up between Marcos Maidana and Devon Alexander.

Maidana, 31-2, 28Ko's coming back off his 2010 loss to Amir Khan with wins over Erik Morales and Petr Petrov moves back to 147lbs for the first time since 2006 when he takes on former IBF/WBC 140lb champion Devon "The Great" Alexander in his own back yard.


Alexander, 22-1, 13Ko's comes in off struggles to make the 140lb weight limit resulting in a January 2011 loss to Timothy Bradley in which many questioned his heart and a controversial split decision win over tough Argentine Lucas Matthysse in June.


The co-feature has WBO Super Featherweight Champion Adrien " The Problem" Broner making the first defense of his WBO title taking on Salinas, California's Eloy "The Prince" Perez.


Broner unbeaten at 22-0, 18Ko's comes in off a big 2011 win over Daniel Ponce De Leon and early stoppages of Jason Litzau and Vicente Martin Rodriguez to claim the vacant WBO Super Featherweight title.


Perez, 23-0-2, 7Ko's enters off a busy 2011 with wins over Roger Gonzalez, Alejandro Rodriguez and KO's of his own stopping Daniel Jimenez in two and Ira Terry in six this past October.


The packed undercard will feature Tuscaloosa, Alabama's unbeaten 2008 Olympic Heavyweight Bonze Medalist Deontay Wilder, 20-0, 20Ko's in a scheduled eight rounder against an opponent yet to be named. Also in action will be unbeaten Las Vegas light welterweight Sharif "the Lion" Bogere, 21-0, 13Ko's taking on Mexico's tough Sergio Rivera, 25-8-2, 16Ko's in a ten rounder, Clearwater, Florida's unbeaten light middleweight Keith "One Time" Thurman, 15-0, 14Ko's against Salt Lake City, Utah veteran Christopher "Kid Kayo" Fernandez, 19-14-1, 12Ko's, welterweight Brandon Baue, 12-5, 10Ko's vs Robbie Cannon, 12-6-2, 6Ko's, light middleweight Eddie Gomez, 7-0, 6Ko's vs Jose Angel Ortiz, 4-6-1, 1Ko, cruiserweight Jose Ponce, 2-0, 2Ko's vs Johnathan Brown, 0-1, light welterweight Tyrone Chatman, 8-1-1, 6Ko's and middleweight Christopher Pearson, 2-0, 1Ko in seperate bouts against opponents yet to be named.


The February 25th action packed card will be broadcast live on HBO from the Scottrade Center in Saint Louis, Missouri.
