Broadway Boxing Leaves Winners Undefeated!!

December 16th, BB Kings, NY, NY: The main event of Lou DiBella’s Broadway Boxing featured former Cuban amateur boxing star two time Olympic Gold Medalist super bantamweight Guillermo Rigondeaux. Undefeated as a pro Rigondeaux, 3-0, 3Ko’s was forced to go the distance for the first time in his brief pro career by Lante “Hiroshima” Addy, 6-5-1, 4Ko’s.
Rigondeaux a southpaw dropped Addy in the opening round of their scheduled eight rounder with a solid left hand to the body leaving the boxing savvy NY crowd looking for a quick finish. Rigondeaux clearly in another class went did not grant their wish going on to get on to get an evening of work leading to a lopsided 80-71, 80-71, 79-72 unanimous decision. Styles make fights and Addys shell defense did not fit the equation tonight.
Rigondeaux night of work will serve him well when he steps up in competition taking on Mexico’s Cuauhtemoc Vargas, 15-2-1, 10Ko’s in February.
In the co-feature NY’s favorite heavyweight Tor Hamer remained undefeated with a one round demolition of Brooklyn’s Nasir Mohamed Ali, 6-5, 3Ko’s. Hamer 10-0, 8Ko’s blasted Ali out with a left hook right hand dropping the last minute replacement. Ali got vertical turning his back stopping the bout at 1:38 of round one.
In the second of two co-features undefeated welterweight Gabriel “Tito” Bracero moved to 8-0, 0Ko’s dominating Gulfport, Mississippi’s tough Carl McNickols, 6-3, 6Ko’s. Bracero’s lack of a punch made this a fight allowing McNickol’s go get his chances but Bracero’s skills proved too much earning him a 59-54, 60-53, 58-55 unanimous decision.
On the undercard: Newburgh, NY featherweight Luis “Orlandito” Del Valle continued his winning ways with an easy nights work when Mexico’s Noe “El Chamaco” Lopez Jr. now 5-5, 4Ko’s injured his hand and was unable to continue advancing the young Puerto Rican prospect to 8-0, 6Ko’s.
Bronx welterweight Christian Martinez added his second Ko in as many fights decking Toledo, Ohio’s Gabriel Morrris, 1-5-1, 0Kos twice in the opening round. The first time with a vicious body shot the latter a left hook stopping the action 0:58 of the first round of their scheduled four rounder.
The “Irish Bomber” Joe Smith, 2-0, 2Ko’s had to pullout of his scheduled bout with Gevonte Davis, 4-5-1, 2Ko’s due to an injured hand.
