Alvarez, Maddalone Score Impressive Stoppages in A/C

On Saturday night, at the Tropicana Casino and Resort in Atlantic City, NJ, Joe DeGuardia's Star Boxing presented a thrilling, action-packed night of professional boxing, that had the packed house in attendance asking for more. The five bout card was headlined by Atlantic City's own, Shamone "The Truth" Alvarez taking on hard hitting Alexis Camacho.

Alvarez and Camacho wasted no time getting acquainted, as they both came out in the first firing.

In the 2nd, the southpaw Alvarez began finding the range for his left hand, landing two short overhand lefts that rocked Camacho.

As the fight progressed from each round to the next, Alvarez got stronger and stronger. To Camacho's credit, he showed guts, and a very good chin, as he continued to press forward as Alvarez's punches found their mark time and time again.

In the 7th Camacho seemed to be tiring and Alvarez began pouring it on. Just when it looked as though Camacho might be getting back into the fight, landing some vicious punches to the body of Alvarez, a huge straight left hand from Alvarez sent Camacho flat on his back. The referee began his count, but the ringside doctor had seen enough and climbed through the ropes, halting the contest at 1:30 of the 7th round.

It was a very impressive showing for Alvarez as he looks to get himself back into title contention. With the win Alvarez improves to 21-2, 12KO while Camacho drops to 17-3, 16KO.

MADDALONE DOMINATES
In the co-feature bout of the evening, heavyweight fan-favorite, Vinny Maddalone, improved his record to 33-6, 24KO, with a vicious five round beat down of Dominique Alexander (19-8-1, 9KO).

Maddalone came out in the first, stalking Alexander. It was evident that Alexander was going to look to box and stay on the outside against the heavy-handed Maddalone. Maddalone had an answer for that though as he began unleashing thunderous right and lefts to the body of Alexander.

In the third round the body shots began to take their toll and Alexander's movement slowed, allowing Maddalone to pin him against the ropes and bomb away. A big overhand right dropped Alexander just as the third round was coming to an end.

Maddalone continued where he left off in the 4th, dropping Alexander with a barrage of punches midway through the round and again at the end.

In the 5th a huge left hook to the body dropped Alexander for the fourth time, and the referee had seen enough, calling a halt to the contest at 1:09.

NEW ATTITUDE ALVAREZ WILL EMERGE SATURDAY NIGHT IN ATLANTIC CITY

an Saturday February 6th, Atlantic City's welterweight contender Shamone "The Truth" Alvarez (20-2, 11KO) will look to get his career back underway and once again begin his ascent into the upper echelon of the welterweight division when he takes on Mexican knockout artist, Alexis Camacho (17-2, 16KO). The show, promoted by Joe DeGuardia's Star Boxing, will take place at the Tropicana Casino and Resort and be broadcast live on GoFightLive.tv.

SHAMONE "THE TRUTH" ALVAREZ
The 33-year-old Alvarez began his professional career in 2002, and went onto to string together 19 consecutive victories, including picking up the WBO NABO welterweight title. In 2007 Alvarez squared off against Joshua Clottey in an official IBF title eliminator, dropping a decision to the eventual IBF welterweight champion.

After the loss Alvarez took some time off from the sport. He returned just under a year later to win a ten round decision over Terrance Cauthen in December of 2008.

The win over Cauthen put Alvarez in yet another official IBF title eliminator, this time against Delvin Rodriguez. The fight, which took place in March of last year, saw Alvarez lose a razor thin decision in a fight that many argued Alvarez could have won.

In October, Alvarez was scheduled to face undefeated Canadian contender Antonin Decarie (now 23-0), but the week of the fight, Alvarez injured his knee while running and had to pull out.

Alvarez is now back and according to the contender, more ready and hungrier than ever.

"This is my time," stated Alvarez. "Physically and mentally I am one-hundred percent ready and focused to climb back into the world title picture. In both my losses I know what I did wrong and I have learned from them. You are going to see the old but at the same time the new and improved Shamone Alvarez when I get in that ring from now on. When I first came up I was very aggressive and took the fight right to my opponents. In my two losses my lack of aggressiveness cost me the fights, and cost me the world title opportunities. I'm on my third strike, trust me I don't plan on striking out."

In the fight against Camacho, Alvarez will be facing a big puncher and someone who will not be afraid to mix it up with him, something that Alvarez is well aware of, and looking forward to.

"I have watched tapes of him and I know that he can crack. You look at his record and you see that he obviously has some power but he has never been inside the ring with someone who is on my level. From what I have seen of him he is a typical Mexican style fighter, he comes forward, he throws big punches, he is durable, but he is there to be hit, and as you will see come Saturday night, he will be hit."

While Alvarez states that he is not looking past the task at hand, he does have big expectations for himself in 2010.

"2010 is going to be a big year for me. God-willing everything goes well on Saturday, I am looking at a possible March 27th date to fight for the IBO title. Once I pick up the IBO belt, I will then hopefully have a chance to go to Canada to take on Decarie as we have unfinished business. At that point I will be ready to challenge any of the world champions in the welterweight division, it's just a matter of who gives me that shot. There is no more playing around. You are going to see the dog come out of me this year, and for all those welterweight contenders and champions out there, look out because I'm coming for you."

MADDALONE FIGHTS ON

On Saturday February 6th, heavyweight fan favorite, Vinny Maddalone (32-6, 23) will get the weekend fireworks started early when he takes on Dominique Alexander (19-7-1, 9KO) in an eight round heavyweight match-up at the Tropicana Casino and Resort in Atlantic City, NJ. The show, promoted by Joe DeGuardia's Star Boxing, and broadcast live on GoFightLive.tv, is headlined by welterweight prospect, Atlantic City's own, Shamone 'The Truth" Alvarez (20-2, 11KO) taking on knockout artist Alexis Camacho (17-2, 16KO).

                                              VINNY MADDALONE
The Queens native Maddalone is no stranger to the bright lights of Atlantic City, having fought there four times before, one of which was named ESPN's 2004 Fight of the Year.

"I'm excited to be returning to A.C.," says Maddalone. "There is a lot of fight history in this city, so it's extra special for me anytime I have the opportunity to fight there."

Maddalone is coming off a hard fought decision loss back in December to former two-time cruiserweight champion, Jean Marc Mormeck. The fight which took place in Mormeck's native France, saw Maddalone press the action and take the fight head on to Mormeck from the opening bell. Mormeck as well as Maddalone , is known for being a banger, but it was evident from the first time Mormeck felt Maddalone's power he wanted no part in the brutal exchanges and began circling and boxing from the outside.

"I was surprised when he started moving like he did," stated Maddalone. "From the tapes I have seen of him he usually stood right there in front of you, but then again that was at cruiserweight. I could tell right away in the first round when I hit him that I could hurt him."

In what was an exciting fight, that brought the sold out crowd to their feet multiple times throughout the contest, Maddalone went on to lose by decision. Although Maddalone lost, as was the case when he fought in Europe in 2008; he dropped another hard fought decision loss to undefeated top five rated heavyweight Denis Boytsov; he further added onto his fan base, a base that has now begun to stretch worldwide.

"I'm a throwback fighter. Anytime I am in that ring you know you are going to see an exciting fight, and the people in Europe, as do my fans here in the U.S, appreciate that. Fighting is my life, it's what I love to do, and come February 6th you can expect nothing less out of me. As I do every time I step into that ring, I am going to leave it all on the line and give the fans something to be excited about."

A win in Atlantic City, could set up another trip for Maddalone back to Europe. There have been talks of Maddalone fighting on the undercard of Mormeck's next fight, and if both win, Maddalone- Mormeck II could be on the horizon.

"I would love another opportunity to face Mormeck. It was an exciting fight that the fans loved, and want to see again, but first things first, I must take care of business this Saturday.

RESULTS FROM RENO

On Friday night, in front of a sold out arena at the Grand Sierra Resort and Casino in Reno, NV, Joe DeGuardia's Star Boxing and Let's Get It On Promotions put together an action packed card on ESPN's "Friday Night Fights" headlined by Curtis "Showtime" Stevens, taking on Jesse Brinkley in an Official IBF eliminator for the number two ranking in the super middleweight division.

CURTIS STEVENS (L) AND JESSE BRINKLEY (R) ENGAGED IN AN ALL OUT WAR ON FNF's
Both fighters prior to the fight promised fireworks, and that's exactly what the audience got, as Stevens came out fast and hard in the first, landing vicious left hooks that immediately caught the attention of Brinkley. A left hook near the end of the first caught Brinkley flush on the cheek and created a nasty welt under his right eye.

The middle rounds saw good, highly competitive action, as both fighters showed they were not afraid to stand and trade, which continuously brought the crowd into a roaring frenzy.

While Stevens seemed to be landing the heavier of the blows, Brinkley kept pressing forward and landed shots of his own. In the 6th a big right hand from Brinkley rocked Stevens. Brinkley immediately looked to capitalize and jumped on Stevens, as Stevens laid on the ropes, waving Brinkley to keep coming. Another short right hand caught Stevens on the jaw, forcing him to take a knee to gain his composure.

The remainder of the fight saw both fighters leave everything they had in the ring. As soon as it looked as though Stevens might be gaining the upper hand, Brinkley would storm back with an assault of his own.

Knowing he needed a knockout to win in Brinkley's hometown, Stevens came out aggressive in the 11th, winging shots trying to stop the hometown favorite. The two closed the round once again standing toe-to-toe trading bombs.

                                                JESSE BRINKLEY
In the final round the two once again let it all hang out, each landing huge hooks and right hands. A big right hand sent Stevens falling back into the ropes, causing the referee to jump in and credit Brinkley with another knockdown. As soon as the action resumed the fireworks continued as Brinkley rushed in looking to end the show in fashion. In the process he left himself open as Stevens landed a huge combination off the ropes that staggered Brinkley. With the crowd going crazy the fight ended with both warriors once again trading huge shots.

In the end Brinkley was awarded a grueling twelve round unanimous decision in what is sure to be an early candidate for fight of the year. With the win Brinkley improves his record to 35-5, 22KO and earned him the number two ranking in the IBF super middleweight division. Stevens, who put up an outstanding fight and showed the heart of a champion, drops to 21-3, 15KO.

SERRANO DOMINATES                                                      In the co-feature bout of the evening, up and coming welterweight prospect, Raymond "Tito" Serrano improved his record to a perfect 12-0, 6KO with a dominating eight round decision victory over Ronnie Warrior Jr. (13-3-1, 4KO). In his first scheduled eight rounder as a pro, Serrano used his speed and crisp combination punching to continuously keep Warrior off balance throughout the contest. The 20-year- old Serrano showed much improved boxing ability as he would score with three and four punch combinations and then move out of Warriors range.

All three judges scored the bout were 79-73 for the Philadelphian native. Look for Serrano to be back in action soon as he anticipates a huge 2010.

ONE ON ONE WITH CURTIS "SHOWTIME" STEVENS

Before Curtis "Showtime" Stevens (21-2, 15KO) steps into the ring against Nevada's Jesse Brinkley (34-5, 22KO) on Friday January 29th at the Grand Sierra Resort and Casino in Reno, NV, Stevens sat down to discuss his upcoming fight. The bout, promoted by Joe DeGuardia's Star Boxing and Let's Get It On Promotions, is scheduled for 12 rounds, and is an Official IBF Eliminator for the number two ranking in the super middleweight division. The fight will be shown live as the main event on that evening's ESPN "Friday Night Fights" telecast.

                                 CURTIS "SHOWTIME" STEVENS
Q: How has your training camp been for this fight, anyone in particular you have worked with during this camp?
CS: Camp has been great, easily one of the best, if not the best in my entire career. I have been getting great sparring at my gym with a few top amateurs such as Marcus Brown, as well as light heavyweight prospect Will Rosinsky (9-0, 6KO). Also right before I went into camp for this fight I was in the Dominican Republic working with WBC light heavyweight champion Jean Paschall as he prepared for his title defense against Adrian Diaconu.

Q: Let's talk about your last fight Curtis, some people chose you as the underdog in that fight, you made it look pretty easy though, was it as easy as it looked?
CS: To be honest it was easy. See I have been boxing since I was 5 years old, so being around for so long, I know that it doesn't matter what your record is. He (Wilczewski) had a great record but he had never fought a Curtis Stevens and the outcome for him was inevitable. It will be exactly the same thing with Jesse Brinkley

Q: This will be your second straight fight in which you enter into hostile territory Curtis. Does it bother you having to go into Jesse's hometown?
CS: No it doesn't bother me at all. Whether the fight is in his hometown, or my hometown, the same situation is going to occur. Yes, the arena we are fighting in is in his home town, but the ring is my home, so when we get inside that ring he will be entering into my hostile territory.

Q: Since switching promoters you have been on a four bout winning streak. Curtis what has it been like working with Joe DeGuardia's Star Boxing?
CS: Working with Joe has been good, really have nothing to complain about. He has got me into a position where one or two more wins and I am fighting for a world championship so I am definitely happy.

                        STEVENS WITH PROMOTER JOE DEGUARDIA
Q: Curtis, from what you have seen what kind of fight do you expect out of Jesse?
CS: Well I know that he likes to come forward and bang and I really hope that's his game plan for me, but as you can see in the past, people change their style when they fight me. I will say though that it's going to be a lot worse for him if he chooses to run because I will continue to stalk him down and bust him up. Bottom line is either way he decides to fight he is going to take a lot of shots, but he will take more shots running. My advice to him is to just get it over with and go toe to toe, save himself a real beating.

Q: I want to thank you for taking time out of your busy training schedule. For the fans out there reading, give me your prediction and anything you want to say in closing?
CS: I want to thank Star Boxing and Let's Get It On Promotions for putting this together and ESPN for broadcasting it. I want to thank my team and trainer Andre Rozier for getting me ready for this. I also want to thank Jesse Maldonado and Ashley Miller at Elite Boxing & Fitness who opened their arms to me and let me train at their great facility here in Reno. My prediction, or should I say my promise, is that there is no way this fight is going the full twelve rounds. It will end with my hands being raised and Jesse waking up on his stool. 2010 is my year. Luckily for the contestants in the Super Six tournament they are locked up and won't have to face me, which makes it that much more unfortunate for everyone else in the super middleweight division. Look out because "Showtime" is coming for you.

SERRANO GETS READY FOR BIG 2010 STARTING ON ESPN
RAYMOND "TITO" SERRANO

On January 29th, Star Boxing's rising welterweight prospect, Raymond "Tito" Serrano (11-0, 6KO) will put his unbeaten record on the line when he takes on Ronnie "The Natural" Warrior Jr. (13-2-1, 4KO) at the Grand Sierra Resort and Casino in Reno, NV. Serrano-Warrior, scheduled for eight rounds in the welterweight division, will be the co-feature bout of the evening on ESPN's "Friday Night Fights". The card, billed as Reno Extreme Fights II, and promoted by Joe DeGuardia's Star Boxing and Let's Get It On Promotions, is headlined by Curtis "Showtime" Stevens (21-2, 15KO) taking on Reno's favorite son, Jesse Brinkley (34-5, 22) in an Official IBF Eliminator for the number two ranking in the super middleweight division.

"This is a great opportunity for Raymond to once again showcase his growing skills on the national stage," stated Joe DeGuardia, CEO of Star Boxing. "This will be his first scheduled eight rounder, and his first nationally televised co-feature, and he is still only 20-years-old. Ray has a very exciting crowd pleasing style, and he has been working very hard on improving and fine tuning the other aspects of his game. We expect him to have a very big year in 2010, but first he must get by Warrior on the 29th."

Born and raised in the fighting city of Philadelphia, Serrano was a decorated amateur, compiling over 100 victories, including winning the international jr. Olympic championship in 2005, as well as being the jr. Olympic national silver medalist in the same year. In 2006 he won the Pennslyvania Golden Gloves.

At just 18-year-old of age Serrano turned pro in October of 2007 scoring a first round knockout victory. Serrano has steadily continued to improve each time out, including winning an impressive six round decision over once beaten Jay Krupp on ESPN in March of last year. The peformance caught the eye of esteemed trainer Freddie Roach who later invited Serrano serve as one of Manny Pacquiao's lead sparring partner in preparation for his fight against Ricky Hatton.

Stevens Has Sights on Super Middleweight Crown

"It might be your city, but don't be mistaken this is my coming out party."

Those were the harsh words of wisdom Curtis "Showtime" Stevens had for Jesse Brinkley when asked about their upcoming showdown on Friday January 29th at the Grand Sierra Resort and Casino in Reno, NV. The bout, scheduled for 12 rounds, is IBF Super Middleweight Eliminator for the #2 ranking (Stevens is currently rated #10, while Brinkley is rated #6) and will be shown live as the main event on that evening's ESPN "Friday Night Fights" telecast.

(STEVENS (L) ANNIHILATED THE PREVIOUSLY UNDEFEATED WILCZEWSKI IN HIS LAST BOUT)
The 24-year-old Stevens (21-2, 15KO) is currently riding a four bout streak since joining Joe DeGuardia's Star Boxing stable of promoted fighters, including a career best victory in his last bout when he scored a third round TKO over previously unbeaten Piotr Wilczewski (22-0) in July of 2009. Coincidently, the fight against Wilczewski, which was on the undercard of fellow Polish native Tomaz Adamek defending his cruiserweight championship, also saw Stevens; as he will do against the Nevada native Brinkley, enter into very hostile territory.

"I feed off the crowd so the more hostile the environment, the worse off it will be for him," stated Stevens. "As I already told Jesse and all his fans when I went to first announce the fight in Reno, he hasn't ever been in the ring with someone like me. To be honest, when I first heard about the fight I really couldn't believe he accepted it. If he thinks he is going to use me as his stepping stone to bigger things in the super middleweight division, then he is in for a rude awakening."

And according to that awakening Stevens refers to, it will take place on National T.V., center ring, in front of all his adoring hometown fans.

"He will realize he made a mistake when he wakes up on his stool or back in his dressing room because I promise you I am going to knock him out cold. I'm going to catch him and when I do he is going to go to sleep. 2010 is going to be my year. I'm calling out all champions and contenders, you better be ready, because this is my time."

The card, billed as Reno Extreme Fights II, is promoted by Joe DeGuardia's Star Boxing and Let's Get It On Promotions. ESPN's "Friday Night Fights" will begin live coverage of the event at 10PM ET. The bout will take place at the Grand Theatre inside the Grand Sierra Resort and Casino. Doors open at 6PM with the first bout scheduled for 6:30PM. Tickets are priced at $100, $75, or $40 and are available at www.GrandSierraResort.com or by calling 1(800) 648-3568. Tickets for a King's Row Booth for four are priced at $1000. Included in your V.I.P. ringside booth are light appetizers and one bottle of premium alcohol.

ANDRADE SCORES 1ST ROUND KNOCKOUT ON ESPN

DEMETRIUS ANDRADE
Going into Friday's matchup against Bernardo Guereca on ESPN's "Friday Night Fights", Demetrius Andrade promised to put on a spectacular performance, and that's exactly what he did. Andrade, who improved his record to 9-0, 7KO landed a picture perfect counter right hook midway through the very first round that sent Guereca to the canvas hard. Guereca was very hurt and remained on the canvas until the referee reached the count of ten. Official time of the stoppage was 1 minute 18 seconds of round number one. Look for Andrade, who is co-promoted by Joe DeGuardia's Star Boxing and Banner Promotions, to be back in action very soon.

2009 YEAR IN REVIEW

In what can only be termed as a wildly crazy, unpredictable and sometimes disappointing year, 2009 will surely not be soon forgotten by Star Boxing Founder and CEO Joe DeGuardia.

NOTABLE EVENTS/FIGHTER HIGHLIGHTS
Star Boxing promoted and was in association with numerous successful events throughout the year, starting in February at New York City's Roseland Ballroom.

ROBINSON SHINES ON FRIDAY NIGHT FIGHTS
The show, which was held on Friday the 13th and broadcast on the ever popular ESNP2 "Friday Night Fight" series, saw Star Boxing's jr. welterweight prospect, "The New" Ray Robinson pick up his most impressive victory to date. In his first nationally televised co-feature, Robinson stopped fellow previously undefeated prospect Darnell Jiles (8-0-1, 3KO) in the third round of their scheduled six round contest. In a very impressive showing, Robinson continuously beat Jiles to the punch and was in command throughout until Jiles failed to answer the bell to start the fourth. The victory improved Robinson's record to 10- 0, 4KO.

STAR FIGHTERS PICK UP A CLEAN SWEEP ON FNF
On March 6th at the Mohegan Sun Resort and Casino in Uncasville, CT, Star Boxing packed the house, and picked up a clean sweep with Delvin Rodriguez, Raymond Serrano and Demetrius Andrade all scoring impressive victories. The card, which again was part of ESPN's "Friday Night Fight" series, was headlined by Rodriguez taking on fellow Star Boxing stable-mate Shamone Alvarez in an official IBF Welterweight Title Eliminator. In what was a very close and highly entertaining battle, that brought the fans in attendance to a standing ovation multiple times throughout the twelve round contest, Rodriguez overcame an injured right hand and rallied down the stretch, dropping Alvarez in the 11th, to go on to win a unanimous decision.

In the co-feature bout of the night, Raymond "Tito" Serrano improved his record to perfect 9-0, 5KO winning a unanimous decision over Louisiana's "Smokin" Jay Krupp. Serrano dropped the once beaten Krupp in the first, and cruised his way to victory. The impressive showing by Serrano, on national television, caught the eye of trainer Freddie Roach, who later invited Serrano into camp to serve as a sparring partner and help prepare Manny Pacquiao for his bout against Ricky Hatton. Kicking off the telecast was 2007 amateur world champion, and 2008 U.S. Olympian, Demetrius Andrade. The jr. middleweight Andrade, who hails from nearby Providence, RI, and is co-promoted by Banner Promotions, was fighting in his third professional fight since turning pro in late 2008. His opponent Tom Joseph (4-1-1) stood no chance against Andrade, as Andrade showed why many believe him to be one of top up and coming prospects in all of boxing, displaying his lightening speed and thunderous power to stop Joseph at just 1:53 of the very first round.

ANDRADE SCORES TRIFECTA ON ESPN2 IN 2009
Andrade followed up his first ESPN2 performance just two weeks later, opening up another Friday Night Fights telecast on March 20th from Laredo, TX. The date and location might have been different, but the outcome was very much the same, as Andrade battered Arnulfo Javier Romero from ring post to ring post, finally knocking Javier out with a vicious uppercut 2:53 into the 2nd round. Andrade made one more appearance on ESPN2 in 2009, pitching a dominate shut-out decision over Tony Hirsch (8-1-1, 4KO) on June 19th. Overall Andrade fought six times in 09, winning four of the fights inside the distance, knocking off three fellow unbeaten prospects in the process and improving his record to 8-0, 6KO. For the second year in a row Andrade was named as one of boxing's top up and coming prospects by ESPN.com's boxing analyst Dan Rafael.

VIP BOXING GETS UNDERWAY
On April 28th, Star Boxing presented its first installment of VIP Boxing at the beautiful Russo's On The Bay banquet hall in Queens, NY. VIP Boxing, which combined professional boxing with a wedding like atmosphere, including a pre-fight hour long cocktail reception, and a four course elegant dinner served during the bouts, was headlined by Queens native, and heavyweight fan favorite, Vinny Maddalone taking on Benji Baker. The always entertaining blood and guts warrior Maddalone didn't disappoint his strong contingent of fans, turning in a standard Maddalone-like performance, as he stalked his opponent from the opening bell, ripping heavy shots to both the body and head of Baker, dropping him in the first, third and fourth rounds. The third knockdown being the equalizer as Baker failed to come out for the 5th. With the win Maddalone improved his record to 32-5, 23KO.

In December, Maddalone traveled to France to take on former two-time cruiserweight champion, Jean Marc Mormeck. Maddalone took the fight straight to the former champion. The fight, which took place at the Halle Carpentier in Mormeck's native Paris, France, had the packed house in attendance on the edge of their seats for the majority of the contest.

In the end Mormeck was the winner on the judges score cards, but the warrior Maddalone won over many of the fans with his aggressive come forward style. Maddalone will be back in action in Atlantic City on February 6th.

SOMEONE'S O'S HAD TO GO, AS STAR'S HEAVY'S COLLIDE AT HARRAHS
On May 15th, from Harrah's Resort in Atlantic City, fellow undefeated Star Boxing heavyweight's Kevin "Kingpin" Johnson and "Devastatin" Devin Vargas, collided in the main event on ESPN2's "Friday Night Fights".

The top-five-rated Johnson and 2004 U.S. Olympic Team Captain Vargas were originally slated to face separate foes, but when Johnson's originally opponent Monte Barrett pulled out last minute due to injury, Vargas stepped up to the plate to save the show.

The bout saw good action as both fighters went toe-to-toe, not afraid to trade with one another. In the 3rd, Johnson landed a series of hard left hooks that dropped Vargas for the first time in his entire career, both amateur and professional. Vargas fought on valiantly, but Johnson began pouring it on, dropping Vargas again in the 5th, and battering him against the ropes, finally forcing his corner to throw in the towel near the end of the 6th.

With the win, Johnson improved his record to 22-0-1, 9KO, while Vargas dropped to 17-1, 7KO. It was later revealed that Vargas suffered a perforated ear drum in the third.

RUMBLE AT THE HILTON RYE TOWN PREMIERES                            In July, Star Boxing presented the first of two promoted events at the Hilton Rye Town Hotel in Rye Brook, NY. Both shows were headlined by Westchester County's own, The Pride of Portchester, David Telesco.

The former number one light heavyweight contender Telesco, who is best known for challenging Roy Jones Jr. for the undisputed light heavyweight championship of the world, returned to the ring from a near four and a half year hiatus on July 16th, stopping William Gill in devastating fashion at 2:13 of the second round.

RILEY SCORES HIGHLIGHT REEL KNOCKOUT
Also picking up victories on the card were Star Boxing prospects, Yathomas Riley (right in the picture) who improved to 6-0, 4KO and Ray Robinson who moved his record to 11-0, 4KO.

Riley scored a devastating one-punch knockout over the usually durable Andre Hemphill, dropping him with a picture perfect left uppercut that caught Hemphill flush on the jaw. To see the knockout, (click here)

In the second installment of Rumble at the Hilton Rye Town, Telesco engaged in a wild shootout with former two-time super middleweight champion Byron Mitchell which unfortunately didn't go Telesco's way as he suffered a 2nd round TKO.

"SHOWTIME" STEVENS ANNIHILATES WILCZEWSKI BEFORE SEA OF RED 2009 saw the re-emergence of super middleweight contender Curtis "Showtime" Stevens. Stevens, now 21-2, 15KO, scored a career best victory over previously undefeated and world rated Polish contender Piotr Wilczewski, annihilating the Pole in three rounds, before a packed house of Polish fans at Newark, New Jersey's Prudential Center. The impressive victory propelled Stevens back into the world ratings, he is now currently rated as the IBF #10, WBC #13, WBO #13 super middleweight in the world. Up next for Stevens is a showdown on ESPN2's "Friday Night Fights" against former Contender Season 1 Alumni, Jesse Brinkley (34-5, 22KO). The bout, which will take place in Reno, Nevada, will be an official IBF Super Middleweight Title Eliminator.

WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING RETURNS TO THE MOHEGAN SUN
On August 1st, Star Boxing brought World Championship boxing back to the Mohegan Sun, staging the vacant IBF Welterweight Championship of the World between Delvin Rodriguez and Isaac Hlatshwayo.

The fight was a rematch of their very entertaining scrap that took place in November of 2008. The bout, which took place in Hlatshwayo's native country of South Africa, was ruled a draw, although many ringside observes felt Rodriguez deserved the victory.

The two combatants once again went right to battle, leaving off right where they had left off. Rodriguez was the aggressor in the early rounds, hurting Hlatshwayo with a right hand in the third. As the bout progressed, Hlatshwayo's left eye began to close, as Rodriguez right hand kept finding its mark. Hlatshwayo pressed on though, trying to walk down Rodriguez and get on the inside. The later rounds were close, and hard to score, as Rodriguez boxed and countered effectively from the ouside, while Hlatshwayo kept coming forward aggressively.

In the end, once again many felt Rodriguez deserved to have his hand raised as the victor, including judge Glen Feldman who scored the bout 115-113, but unfortunately for the Danbury native Rodriguez, judges Tony Paoillilo and judge Isaac Tshabalala scored the bout 116-112, 116-113 respectively, giving Hlatshwayo the decision, and IBF belt. The loss dropped Rodriguez's record to 24-3-1, 14KO while Hlatshwayo improved to 29-1-1, 10KO.

On the undercard Star Boxing fighters, Demetrius Andrade, Yathomas Riley, Raymond Serrano and Tarvis Simms all picked up victories.

ROBBED IN POLAND
2009 A YEAR TO FORGET FOR HARD LUCK RODRIGUEZ

Looking to hopefully set up a third fight with Hlatshwayo, Rodriguez traveled to Poland in November to take on native Rafal Jackiewicz in yet another official IBF Title Eliminator only to suffer another controversial and heart breaking defeat.

Going in, Rodriguez knew he would have to put on a dominating performance to win a decision, being the fight was taking place in Jackiewicz home country of Poland. Rodriguez stated prior to the fight that he was going to be aggressive and take the fight right to Jackiewicz. Rodriguez also stated he was going to hurt the Pole, and look to knock him out. Rodriguez made it clear that he didn't want to leave any questioning up to the judges, and would put on a performance that no one could argue who the real winner would be.

Rodriguez started fast, and didn't let his foot off the gas for the entire twelve rounds, dropping the Pole hard in the 6th. Rodriguez displayed a lightening quick jab that he pumped into the face of Jackiewicz all night long. He continuously walked the Pole down, landing vicious shots to the body when the two would be in close quarters.

At the end of the fight Jackiewicz faced showed the wear and tear of the grueling fight he has just been in, Rodriguez on the other hand didn't have a mark on him. Reports from Poland stated that Jackiewicz was urinating blood after the fight, most likely as a result of the heavy body shots he received all night, and was taken to the hospital for observation on a possible concussion and broken jaw, heavy injuries for a fighter who ended up winning by scores of 116-112, 115- 112, 114- 112.

In the end Rodriguez was credited with throwing 1,025 punches, while Jackiewicz only through 351. Rodriguez also outlanded Jackiewicz 141 to 108 and held a 94-60 edge in power shots.

Hopefully 2010 will bring some better luck to Rodriguez as he continues to show that he is one of the best welterweights in the entire world.

U.S. OLYMPIANS VARGAS AND BENITEZ WIN AT VIP BOXING II
The second installment of VIP Boxing in September saw Star Boxing's two former U.S. Olympians, Devin Vargas and Roberto Benitez get back into the win column before yet another packed house at Russo's On The Bay.

Vargas improved his record to 18-1, 7KO with a dominate eight round unanimous decision over game Terrell Nelson. It was later revealed that Vargas injured his right hand in the first round, forcing him to fight almost solely with his left for the remainder of the bout.

In the co-feature bout of the evening, Roberto Benitez, one of the most decorated amateurs to come out of the U.S. in the last decade returned to the ring after a three year hiatus, due to injuries, to win a shut out decision over Luis Angel Paneto.

Benitez, who won the United States Junior Olympics at 14 and 15 years of age and went on to win ten National championships, including two National Golden Gloves Titles, and 4 National Everlast Boxing Championships (more than any amateur boxer in history), as well as winning two Olympic trials, and being an alternate to the 2000 U.S. Olympic Team as a flyweight and a member of the 2004 U.S. Olympic Team as a bantamweight, was dominate, winning by scores of 60-52 three times, improving his record to 6-0, 3KO. Look for Benitez to have a big 2010.

STAR JOINS PARTNERS WITH HUSTLER-NYC TO PRESENT NEW SERIES
On Decemer 3rd, Star Boxing presented its premiere installment of "Hustler Boxing," a new a series of star-studded boxing events throughout the New York City area, promoted in association with Larry Flynt's Hustler Club- NYC.

The card was broadcast live on the nationally televised Versus Network, and featured Mike Arnaoutis taking on Tim Pitbull Coleman for the vacant USBA light welterweight championship.

The bout saw good action from both fighters, with Coleman building an early lead, and Arnaoutis coming on strong down the stretch. Although many ringside observers, including the majority of press row, ring announcers, and hall-of-fame trainer and HBO commentator Emmanuel Steward, felt Arnaoutis deserved the decision, they, as well as judge Robin Taylor (116-112) were overruled by judges Kevin Morgan and Glen Feldman, who both scored the bout 115-113 in favor of Coleman.

Star and Hustler will look to feed of the success of the first show and continue the series all throughout 2010.

JOHNSON LOSES BID FOR WBC BELT AGAINST KLITSCHKO
On December 12th from Bern, Switzerland, Kevin Johnson became just the second fighter to go the distance with current WBC Heavyweight Champion Vitali Klitschko.

Johnson had some early success against Klitschko with his jab, but was unable to capitalize, eventually losing a unanimous decision.

HISTORIC BPA FORMED
2009 will go down as one of the most historic years in boxing, as more than thirty of the United States top promoters met at the Roosevelt Hotel in New York City during the summer, to discuss the current state of boxing and the need to establish a unified boxing promoters association. After an all day meeting, which was spearheaded and organized by Star Boxing President and CEO, Joe DeGuardia, the promoters unanimously agreed to form the Boxing Promoter's Association (BPA) and signed the BPA's Declaration.

The second meeting, which took place during the fall, saw the BPA set a course of action, determine a set of by-laws, and select a Board of Directors, the President, Secretary and Treasurer of the Association.

MADDALONE TURNS IN ANOTHER WARRIOR LIKE EFFORT

Before last night's battle against Jean Marc Mormeck, Vinny Maddalone had promised to turn in an exciting and entertaining performance. After eight hard fought rounds not many people could argue against his statement.

Maddalone took the fight straight to the former two-time cruiserweight champion. The fight, which took place at the Halle Carpentier in Mormeck's native Paris, France, had the packed house in attendance on the edge of their seats for the majority of the contest.

In the end Mormeck was the winner on the judges score cards, winning by scores of 77- 75, 79-75, 79-73, but the warrior Maddalone, won over many of the fans. With the victory Mormeck improved to 34-4, 22KO while Maddalone drops to 32-6, 23KO.

CURTIS "SHOWTIME" STEVENS VS. JESSE BRINKLEY- JANUARY 29TH IN RENO

CURTIS "SHOWTIME" STEVENS

On January 29th at The Grand Sierra Resort in Reno Nevada, Brooklyn, NY's Curtis "Showtime" Stevens (21-2 15 KOs) will square off against and Yerington, NV's fan favorite Jesse Brinkley (34-5 22KOs) in an official IBF eliminator for the number two ranking in the super middleweight division. The fight, promoted by Joe DeGuardia's Star Boxing and Let's Get It On Promotions, will be aired live on ESPN2's always popular "Friday Night Fight Series". A press conference is being held today in Reno to announce the upcoming bout.

"Styles make fights, and in this fight you have two heavy handed punchers who are going to come right at one another looking to end the show in spectacular fashion. These are the types of fights that true boxing fans dream of watching. With the Super Six Tournament in full-swing, the super middleweight division is one of the most exciting in the sport right now, and we are expecting to add to that excitement with a tremendous fight and tremendous turn out come January 29th."

IN HIS LAST FIGHT STEVENS COMPLETELY ANNIHILATED PREVIOUSLY UNBEATEN PIOTR WILCZEWSKI
The 24-year-old Stevens (IBF #10, WBO #13, WBA #14), who hails from the rough streets of Brownsville in Brooklyn, NY, the same area which has produced such champions as Mike Tyson and Riddick Bowe, is coming off a devastating third round TKO victory over previously unbeaten Piotr Wilczewki (22-0, 7KO) this past July. Since joining the Star Boxing Roster in 2008, Stevens has strung together four impressive victories, including three by way of knockout.

"On January 29th Showtime Stevens will be reaping havoc upon Jesse Brinkley," stated Curtis Stevens. "I'm in the business of hurting people, and you better believe Jesse Brinkley is in for a world of hurt when he gets into the ring with me. If he thinks that fighting in his backyard is going to bother me, then he has another thing coming, tell him to watch a copy of my last fight against Wilczewski and see what happened to him in front of all his Polish fans. Make sure to tune in, because I am promising you, I am going to knock Brinkley out cold. 2010 is my year, no one can stop me."

The 33-year-old Brinkley (IBF #6, WBC #7) has been steadily on the rise including winning his past eight fights. Within that time, the former Contender season-one alum earned the UNSBC super-middleweight championship with a dominating victory over fellow Contender contestant Joey Gilbert. His recent success has made him wildly popular in Northern Nevada and has also elevated his profile in the global boxing community.
"This fight is the only thing that stands in my way of achieving my dream of having a shot at becoming a world champion" stated Brinkley. "I'm busting my butt in the gym, and I'm going to leave it all out there."

"A lot is on the line." Says Let's Get It On Promotions' president Tommy Lane. "The winner will get a shot at the title, the loser will continue to wait in line. I just can't wait to see the fight."
Ticket and broadcast information, along with under card details will be announced shortly. The Brinkley vs. Stevens fight will headline Reno Xtreme Fights II. There will be a press conference in Reno on December 9th.

RODRIGUEZ HARD LUCK CONTINUES IN POLAND

On November 27th Delvin Rodriguez took on Rafel Jackiewicz in an official welterweight IBF Title Eliminator. Everything Rodriguez stated and predicted were true, unfortunately, the only thing he was wrong about, was the decision, as Jackiewicz was awarded a highly controversial, if not out right ridiculous unanimous decision victory.

DELVIN RODRIGUEZ
"We were waiting to get a copy of the fight before we released any statement," stated Joe DeGuardia, CEO of Star Boxing, and promoter of Rodriguez. "After watching the fight we believe it is crystal clear that anyone who watches this fight knows who the winner truly is. Hopefully the IBF will closely examine the footage, and grant Delvin a rematch."

"The decision was completely insane," stated Rodriguez long-time manager Stan Hoffman. "There isn't one person that I talked to that night that told me they felt Delvin lost the fight, and that's included almost every Polish writer there."

Rodriguez started fast, and didn't let his foot off the gas for the entire twelve rounds. Rodriguez displayed a lightening quick jab that he pumped into the face of Jackiewicz all night long. He continuously walked the Pole down, landing vicious shots to the body when the two would be in close quarters.

In the 6th a huge over hand right from Rodriguez rocked Jackiewicz, sending him stumbling across the ring. Rodriguez jumped all over his opponent, eventually dropping him with a flurry of punches. To Jackiewicz's credit he was able to survive the round, but took a brutal beating in the process.

Rodriguez continued to outwork Jackiewicz for the remainder of the fight. At the end of the fight Jackiewicz faced showed the wear and tear of the grueling fight he has just been in, Rodriguez on the other hand didn't have a mark on him. Reports from Poland stated that Jackiewicz was urinating blood after the fight, most likely as a result of the heavy body shots he received all night, and was taken to the hospital for observation on a possible concussion and broken jaw, heavy injuries for a fighter who won by scores of 116-112, 115- 112, 114-112.

In the end Rodriguez was credited with throwing 1,025 punches, while Jackiewicz only through 351. Rodriguez also outlanded Jackiewicz 141 to 108 and held a 94-60 edge in power shots.

Rodriguez threw more punches in every single round and was credited with landing more punches in seven of the twelve rounds. In fact, Delvin threw more jabs than Jackiewicz did total punches in eleven of the twelve rounds. Factor in the knockdown in the sixth, a round in which Delvin outlanded Jackiewicz 24-4 in total punches and 22-2 in power shots, the fight could have easily went 8-4, or at worst 7-5 in rounds for Delvin, with the extra point for the knockdown. You could almost make a case for a 10-7 round in the sixth considering the battering Jackiewicz received.

The loss for Rodriguez is painfully similar to what he has went through over the past year.

In November of 2008, Rodriguez went into South Africa to fight Isaac Hlatshwayo in an official IBF Title eliminator, dropping Hlatshwayo in the 9th round, and seemingly out working the South African, in a fight that was eventually ruled a draw.

In August of this year, Rodriguez fought Hlatshwayo again, this time for the vacant IBF welterweight championship, losing a close controversial split decision.

"He just can't seem to get a break," stated DeGuardia. "He fought a brilliant fight against Jackiewicz and did everything he needed to do to win the fight, but for some reason once again he didn't get the decision."

HUSTLER BOXING RESULTS

Last night at the Manhattan Center, Joe DeGuardia's Star Boxing presented its premiere installment of "Hustler Boxing" with a five bout card. The show, which was televised live on the Versus Network, attracted some of New York's famous actors and sport figures, including Bert Young (Paulie from Rocky), Chuck Zito, as well as running backs for the New York Giants, Brandon Jacobs, and Danny Ware amongst many others.

ARNAOUTIS (R) LOSES TO COLEMAN IN HIGHLY CONTROVERSIAL DECISION
The main event bout of the evening saw the Pride of Greece, "Mighty" Mike Arnaoutis take on Tim "Pit Bull" Coleman for the vacant USBA light welterweight championship.

In the first few rounds, both fighters looked to establish their jab, measuring one another from the outside but as each round progressed the action continuously picked up, with Arnaoutis being the aggressor, as Coleman looked to counter.

From the 7th round on Arnaoutis was the much busier fighter, landing good combinations to both the body and head of the backpedaling Coleman. Coleman was game, but Arnaoutis continued to outwork and outgun the Baltimore native down the stretch.

After the twelfth and final round ended the pro Arnaoutis crowd went into an uproar, convinced the Pride of Greece would be crowned the new USBA champ, but surprisingly, Coleman was awarded the split decision victory. Judge Robin Taylor scored the bout 116-112 for Arnaoutis, while judges Kevin Morgan and Glen Feldman had it 115- 113 for Coleman.

A quick panel at ringside, which included press row, the Versus announcers, as well as hall of fame trainer, and HBO Boxing commentator, Emmanuel Steward, all revealed that they felt Arnaoutis was the clear-cut winner. Taking nothing away from Coleman's hard fought spirited effort, Arnaoutis was just the much busier, more active fighter, landing the cleaner blows, and seemingly sweeping the championship rounds.

With the loss Arnaoutis drops to 22-4-2, 10KO, while Coleman improves to 17-1-1, 4KO.

                                  SOLOMON BEATS ROBINSON
In a battle of unbeaten up and coming welterweights, three-time national Golden Gloves Champion, Brad "Busy B" Solomon improved to a perfect 9-0, 3KO with a hard fought eight round unanimous decision over "The New" Ray Robinson (11-1, 4KO).

The fight saw good action from both fighters, particularly in the later rounds, as both Robinson and Solomon stood toe-to-toe exchanging vicious combinations. Although Robinson seemed to finish a bit stronger then Solomon, Solomon built up a big enough lead in the early rounds to pull off the majority decision. Scores were 76-76, which were overturned by two scores of 79-73 for Solomon.

After the fight Robinson's camp complained of repeated head butts from Solomon, one which opened a nasty cut over the left eye of Robinson midway through the fight.

                                  BRIGGS ANNIHILATES MCGEE
In the first televised bout of the night, former WBO heavyweight champion, Brooklyn's own Shannon Briggs (49-5-1, 43KO), returned to the ring for the first time in two years in impressive fashion, knocking out Marcus McGee (22-18, 11KO) with a crippling right hook to the body at 2:01 of the very first round. McGee was down for several minutes following the knockout, with spectators at ringside being quoted as saying they could hear McGee's rips crack from the blow.

Briggs will now look to stay busy as he hopes to get another shot at a heavyweight World Championship.

Undercard Results:
Josh Harris TKO4 Jaywon Woods
Hajro Sujak W4 Todd Eriksson

NEW TEAM, NEW WEIGHT SHEA
HAS CHAMPIONSHIP IN SITE

On Thursday December 3rd in the Grand Ballroom at the Manhattan Center "The Real Million Dollar Baby" Maureen Shea (13-2, 7KO) will look to fulfill a life-long dream by capturing a world championship when she takes on Jenna Shiver (9-4-1, 2KO) for the interim WBA Female Super Bantamweight Title on the Joe DeGuardia Star Boxing promoted "Hustler Boxing" card. The bout, which is being aired live on Versus (the first ever televised female championship on the network), is scheduled for ten rounds in the 122 lb. division.

MAUREEN SHEA
Q: Maureen how has training been for your upcoming fight?
MS: Training has been great! I took about two weeks off after my last fight. I had to regroup, reassess and re-plan. After doing that I was right back in the gym.

Q: I am told you have a new trainer in your corner now, Tommy Brooks. When did you start working with Tommy?
MS: I began to train at the PAL gym in Hackensack, NJ with Tommy around mid August. I wanted a fresh start. I am grateful that I am working with such a well respected trainer. I also have Aroz "Terrific" Gist in my corner now. Some might recognize him from his work with Kendall Holt. Neither one has ever worked with a female before and we are really having a great time in the gym. We are focused, but it is fun!

Q: What does Tommy bring to your game?
MS: Tommy brings World Class experience having worked with over 17 World Champions. His knowledge of the sport, his demeanor and his approach as a trainer has enabled me to be a more intelligent and well rounded fighter. With his assistant Gist, a big part of our training regiment consists of strategy, as well as, studying and reviewing opponents styles to initiate an effective fight plan.

Q: What do you know about your opponent Shiver?
MS: She seems like a strong fighter who comes prepared to fight and I am sure the fans won't be disappointed, come December 3rd.

Q: You are moving down in weight, what was the reasoning behind the move?

FORMER AMATEUR STANDOUTS NOW PRO PROSPECTS:
ROBINSON AND SOLOMON PUT UNDEFEATED RECORDS
ON THE LINEAT HUSTLER BOXING

It is rare in boxing when you see two prospects at such an early stage of their career put their undefeated records on the line against on another. But on December 3rd, on Joe DeGuardia's Star Boxing premiere installment of his new collaborative series "Hustler Boxing" with Larry Flynt's Hustler Club-NYC, you will see just that when Star Boxing's "The New" Ray Robinson (11-0, 4KO) takes on Brad Solomon (8-0, 3KO) in a must see welterweight showdown between two unbeaten, up and coming prospects. The bout is scheduled for six rounds in the welterweight division and is one of the co-feature bouts of the evening. "Huster Boxing" will take place in the Grand Ballroom at New York City's famous Manhattan Center, and will be broadcast live on the nationally televised Versus Network.

"THE NEW" RAY ROBINSON
"Anytime you have two unbeaten prospects matched up against one another at this stage of their careers you know you are in for a special treat," stated Joe DeGuardia, CEO and founder of Star Boxing. "Both Ray and Solomon had very good amateur backgrounds and are now progressing right along through their respective professional careers. They are both very hungry, very determined, and neither of them knows how to lose. A win, against an unbeaten prospect, on a nationally televised broadcast, will do wonders for either guy's career. With all of that on the line, you can't expect anything less than a great fight."

The 23-year-old Philadelphian native Robinson had an exceptional amateur career, which resulted in him boxing on the U.S. National Team, as well as being ranked the third top light welterweight in the entire nation. As a pro Robinson has been equally impressive. At close to six feet tall, the rangy southpaw Robinson is a gifted boxer with tremendous hand speed. In February of this year, Robinson scored his most impressive victory to date, a third round TKO over previously unbeaten Darnell Jiles, on ESPN2's "Friday Night Fights".

"This is a huge fight for me at this stage of my career, but I couldn't be more confident of the outcome," stated Robinson. "I have had a tremendous training camp, and I am ready to go. I am excited to be part of this great card on December 3rd at the Manhattan Center, and am looking forward to putting on a great performance for all those in attendance and all those watching at home on Versus."

The 26-year-old Solomon is a three-time National Golden Gloves Champion. Solomon won the welterweight title in 2005, and light welterweight titles in both 2006 and 2007. In 2007 Solomon made it all the way to the semifinals at the United States Amateur Championships, beating fellow unbeaten pro prospect Danny Garcia (now 14- 0, 9KO) in the process.

BOXING PROMOTERS ASSOCIATION
PRAISES PACQUIAO COTTO SUCCESS

It is my pleasure, on behalf of the Boxing Promoter's Association (BPA), to congratulate our sport in once again showing that BOXING is truly desired by fans.

The Top Rank-promoted fight between Manny Pacquiao and Miguel Cotto last week exceeded 1.25 million buys and generated over $70 million in domestic pay-per-view revenue. According to the Nevada State Athletic Commission, Pacquiao-Cotto also generated a live gate of 15,930 fans from all over the world, making it the 14th highest grossing sporting event in the state's history, all for which were BOXING events.

This was the second consecutive HBO/PPV telecast that generated over a million buys (Mayweather-Marquez which took place back in September produced over a million buys and generated over $52 million dollars). It will mark the first time since 1999, when Felix Trinidad fought Oscar De La Hoya and Lennox Lewis took on Evander Holyfield, that two bouts in the same year will exceed 1 million pay-per-view buys.

In addition to BOXING'S recent success on HBO/PPV, the Vitali Klitschko vs. Chris Arreola telecast which took place one week after Mayweather vs. Marquez, was the highest rated fight of the year on HBO's World Championship Boxing. Furthermore, Showtime's innovative Super Six tournament has really captured the public's attention as witnessed by the recent success and fan turn out during Stage One of the tournament. Taking a look at such recent events, it is evident that the appeal of BOXING continues to captivate fans and the sport is at one of the highest points it's been in the last decade.

Promoter of the card, Bob Arum of Top Rank, said that the early PPV numbers on Pacquiao Cotto are "over a million and under 1.5 million buys -- and that's without all of the precincts being reported."

"They're not really accurate yet, but all that we can say with absolute certainty is that Pacquiao-Cotto was the biggest, revenue-producing event on pay-per-view for the entire year," said Arum. "And that surpasses all of the UFC. Everything. Any event. It's the biggest event of the year from the standpoint of revenue being generated."

I am proud on behalf of the BPA to congratulate everyone involved in the successful show, particularly our fellow promoter, Top Rank, as well as HBO/PPV and the boxers, Manny Pacquiao and Miguel Cotto. BOXING'S success this past year makes all of us at the BPA very proud. We are excited to move our sport into the future and these recent shows provide yet additional examples of how various parts of the sport working together can create huge successes.

We look forward to future collaborations and successes for the great sport of BOXING.

Sincerely, Joe DeGuardia, President Boxing Promoters Association

RODRIGUEZ PROMISES TO DOMINATE IN POLAND

When Star Boxing's IBF #3 rated welterweight Delvin Rodriguez (24-3-2, 14KO) steps into the ring against Poland's IBF #4 rated Rafal "Braveheart" Jackiewicz (34-8-1, 18KO) for the #1 spot in the IBF World Ratings in an official IBF Welterweight Title eliminator in Elk, Poland on Friday November 27th, Rodriguez doesn't intend to leave any questioning in the outcome of the fight.

"I'm going to look to knock him out, or give him a beating for the entire twelve rounds we are in that ring together, so in the end there will be no question who the winner of the fight actually is." stated Rodriguez. "You are going to see a new Delvin Rodriguez from here on out. I am going to be much aggressive in my fights and while I won't go into a fight just looking for a knockout, if the opportunity comes you better believe I am going to jump all over it. I am going into these fights with a more aggressive mind state, I want to hurt you, and I am going to hurt you."

When speaking with Rodriguez or watching him train you can hear and see that he means business. Rodriguez admittedly has a very bitter taste left in his mouth from his two controversial matches against current IBF Welterweight Champion, Isaac Hlatshwayo in the last year.

RODRIGUEZ (L) IS COMING OFF A HEARTBREAKING SPLIT DECISION LOSS TO HLATSHWAYO (R)
"The first fight I go into his country (South Africa) for an official IBF Title eliminator and do more than enough to win a decision, even dropping him in the 9th round, but only walk away with a draw. Then we fight for the IBF Championship in August and I feel like I do even more in that fight, and he wins a split decision. I am very bitter, I should be the Champion right now and I'm not. I thought I was winning the fight easily and I stopped being as aggressive, and because of that he has the belt and I don't. I learned my lesson against Hlatshwayo, unfortunately I had to learn it the hard way, but I can promise I won't make the same mistake against Jackiewicz when we get in the ring on November 27th."

At 29-years-old Rodriguez still has youth on his side, but knows that his time to shine in the welterweight division; which is stacked with the likes of Floyd Mayweather, Manny Pacquiao, Shane Mosley, Andre Berto, Miguel Cotto and Hlatshwayo; is now.

"The welterweight division is the hottest division in boxing right now. From the up and coming prospects to the contenders and champions, there are just so many good fighters in this division. That being said I am in the prime of my career and I don't think any of those guys are better or more hungry than me."

But with such big fights on the horizon, Rodriguez knows that the most important thing right now is to come away from Poland with a victory.

"Jackiewicz is a very good, and very skilled fighter," says Rodriguez. "If anyone thinks I am looking past him they are very wrong. I am focused on one thing and one thing only and that's beating Jackiewicz and becoming the number one challenger. I have had one of the best training camps of my life and know I will be heading to Poland in top shape ready to come away with the victory. He hasn't lost in over four years, and he has never been stopped before. I'd like to be, and plan on being the first person to do it."

Rodriguez vs. Jackiewicz will be promoted by Joe DeGuardia's Star Boxing in association with Bullit Knockout Promotions.

KEVIN JOHNSON:
I AM BRINGING THE CHAMPIONSHIP BACK TO AMERICA!
WBC HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP OF THE WORLD

When Star Boxing's top rated undefeated heavyweight Kevin "Kingpin" Johnson (22-0-1, 9KO) (WBC #6, WBA #6, WBO #8, IBF #12) steps into the ring on December 12th to challenge Vitali Klitschko (38-2, 37KO) for Klitschko's coveted WBC Heavyweight Championship, he will not only be fighting for himself, but fighting for our entire country

"Bringing the heavyweight championship back to America is more important to me than anything," stated Johnson. "For the entire 20th Century there wasn't a bigger prize in all of sports than being the heavyweight champion of the world. Since the Europeans took over the heavyweight division, boxing lost some of its appeal. The average American walking down the street couldn't tell you who the champ is. When I think of great fighters I think of Jack Johnson, Joe Louis, Muhammad Ali, Larry Holmes and Mike Tyson. When these guys were champs, they were icons in this great nation. The Klitschko's are a temporary mistake and I'm going to fix that mistake for good. Winning the World Championship and bringing the belt back to America, were it rightfully belongs, will be a huge step in that direction. Like those great heavyweights did in the past-I will restore the shine to Heavyweight Boxing."

While Johnson is very confident in the outcome of the fight, he does respect Vitali as "the only true champion" in the heavyweight division.

"I give Vitali a lot of respect for giving me this opportunity. He is a true champion that doesn't duck anybody. Of all the champions he is the only one who has stepped up and given us young guys, such as Chris Arreola and myself a chance to fight for his championship."
While some critics might argue that Johnson is too inexperienced to dethrone Klitschko, Johnson chooses not to let it bother him.

"There are always going to be people that hate on me, but just as much as my supporters motivate me, the haters motivate me too. I love proving people wrong, I have done it for my entire career, and I don't plan on stopping anytime soon." Muhammad Ali had haters too, it didn't stop him from being considered 'The Greatest of All Time'. Ali shocked the world when he beat the 'invincible' Sonny Liston and it won't stop me from beating the 'invincible' Vitali Klitschko.

"These co-called critics can say what they want, but bottom line is my time is now. I am in the prime of my career, none of the other top contenders or prospects want to fight me, so what should I do, sit around and pad my record with meaningless wins like most of these other guys do? I have studied Vitali for a long time and I've watched him destroy a lot of guys, but in each of those fights, I've seen him show a lot of flaws. The problem is that none of the guys he fought, other then Lewis, had the skills, stamina and technique to take advantage. Despite what everyone says I know what I can do and how I'm going to do it. I know I'll be the underdog going into this fight and that's fine with me. I'm letting all those big betters out there know, if they are looking to make a lot of money, put your money on the Kingpin."

Regarding of the outcome of the fight, Johnson sees the fight playing out one way and one way only, with him being the victor.

"My game plan going into this fight is to win, it's as simple as that. No matter what, I'm not leaving Switzerland without that WBC belt around my waist. I see the fight playing out whatever way I want it to play out. If I have to box him then I'll box him. From a pure boxing standpoint he is no where near on my level. People talk about his jab, but there is no heavyweight in the world with a better jab then me, and certainly not Vitali Klitschko. People might not know, but I actually have a longer reach than him. When it comes to jabbing he can forget it. If he tries to jab with me, his mouth will be wide open and his eyes will be closed by the middle of the fight."

"If he wants to fight, I'll go toe-to-toe with him and use my speed to knock him out. I want to make things clear for everyone; I'm not Cristobal Arreola, or Sam Peters. If he stands in front of me with his hands down, I'll hit him ten times before he can land once. It's going to be a short night for him if he tries that amateur stuff with me."

With about a month to go till fight night, Johnson says he is already in top shape and ready to go.

"I knew that this day would come sooner or later so I have been preparing myself for the last two years. I work out five days a week year round, so I'm always in shape. For Vitali I have stepped it up even more though and have been putting my body through some new intensive training. By fight time, I'll be leaner than ever and ready to go. I couldn't be more focused then the task at hand. I can already hear the announcer saying, "and the new heavyweight champion of the world, Kevin "Kingpin" Johnson! My long-awaited reign of the heavyweight division finally begins, starting with Vitali Klitschko on December 12th."

The Kevin Johnson vs. Vitali Klitschko fight for the WBC Heavyweight Championship of the World is promoted by Joe DeGuardia's Star Boxing and K2 Promotions and will take place at the PostFinance Arena in Bern, Switzerland.

RODRIGUEZ TAKES ON JACKIEWICZ
IN IBF TITLE ELIMINATOR

On November 27th, Star Boxing's IBF #3 rated welterweight, Delvin Rodriguez (24-3-2, 14KO) will travel into foreign territory when he takes on Poland's IBF #4 rated Rafal "Braveheart" Jackiewicz (34-8-1, 18KO) for the #1 spot in the IBF World Ratings in an official IBF Welterweight Title eliminator. The bout, scheduled for twelve rounds, will take place in Belk, Poland.

Rodriguez is coming off a highly entertaining, controversial split decision loss to Isaac Hlatshwayo this past August for the vacant IBF Welterweight Championship of the World.

While Rodriguez is looking to rebound off the loss, Jackiewicz will be looking to keep his nineteen-bout, four-year win streak alive.

"I am pleased that Delvin is getting another opportunity to become the mandatory challenger. I thought that Delvin won both fights against Hlatshwayo (the two first battled to a majority draw in November of last year)," stated Joe DeGuardia, CEO and founder of Star Boxing. "It is fitting that the IBF kept Delvin as the top rated welterweight in the division (both the #1 and #2 spot are vacant), as when you take the judge's scorecards over 24 rounds, only one scorecard separates Delvin from being the World Champion. Hopefully Delvin will soon have an opportunity to fight once again for the coveted IBF World Championship. First and foremost Delvin must take care of business in Poland. Jackiewicz is a very skilled fighter, so Delvin knows he can't look past him. He hasn't lost in over four years and he will have a whole country behind him fight night. I can tell you though that Delvin has a very bad taste left in his mouth and he is hungrier than ever to get another shot at the championship and promises he won't leave it to the judge's scorecards this time around."

Rodriguez vs. Jackiewicz will be promoted by Joe DeGuardia's Star Boxing in association with Bullit Knockout Promotions.

STAR BOXING 12/3 NYC CARD GETS HOTTER:
SHEA VS. SHIVERS
FOR INTERIM WBA SUPER BANTAMWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP

Bronx's fan-favorite, "The Real Million Dollar Baby" Maureen Shea (13-2, 7KO) has been added to Joe DeGuardia's Star Boxing upcoming, "Hustler Boxing" card Thursday December 3rd, at the Manhattan Center. Shea will square off against Jenna "Cowgirl" Shiver (9-4-1, 2KO) for the Interim WBA Female Super Bantamweight Championship of the World. The bout was made possible when Peter "Kid Chocolate" Quillin pulled out of his scheduled bout due to his appendix suddenly rupturing and having to be removed.

"THE REAL MILLION DOLLAR BABY" MAUREEN SHEA
The 28-year-old Shea is best known for serving as the lead sparring partner and mentor for Hillary Swank, as Swank prepared for her role in the Academy Award winning movie Million Dollar Baby.

"It was unfortunate that Quillin had to pull off the show, but luckily we were able to replace him with what is sure to be an all-action affair in a World Championship match-up," stated Joe DeGuardia, CEO and founder of Star Boxing. "Being from the nearby Bronx, Maureen has a huge following when she fights in New York and we expect her to put on a great show for all those in attendance as she has done time and time again."

"I'm finally fighting at 122-the weight I should be fighting. My strength and conditioning coach has always said I am a natural 122 weight so now I'm there. I'm very comfortable at that weight and ready to pursue the title. The energy in NY is so incredible- after the Yankees won the World-Series, it motivated me and I am ready to be a World Champion as well. I am looking forward to this title challenge with my team."

This VIP evening of boxing and entertainment, hosted by various celebrities, will feature special entertainment and top boxing.  KINGPIN WOES CHAMPION KLITSCHKO
AND SWISS AT PRESS CONFERENCE

When Star Boxing's undefeated heavyweight Kevin "Kingpin" Johnson,           (22-0-1, 9KO) faces off against Vitali Klitschko, (38-2, 37KO) for Vitali's WBC Heavyweight Championship belt on December 12th at the PostFinance Arena in Bern, Switzerland, there won't be an empty seat left in the house. The arena which holds 17,000 people has already completely sold out all of its pre-sale tickets. And while many of those 17,000 people will consist of Klitschko's adoring European fans, after Johnson's recent appearance in Switzerland to officially announce the upcoming bout, there just might be more than a few fans cheering for the American Johnson.

"Everyone fell in love with Kevin in Switzerland. The press, the fans, and even Vitali was impressed with Kevin," stated Joe DeGuardia, CEO and founder of Star Boxing, who accompanied Johnson on the trip.

The official press conference to announce the fight was held Friday at Switzerland's famous Jungfraujoch (elevation, 11,333 feet; 3,454 meters), the highest train station in all of Europe.

Johnson was the first of the fighter's to address the audience, thanking everyone for coming, and inviting him to their beautiful country and to Vitali for accepting the challenge.

"Vitali is a great champion, but I am not leaving this country on December 12th without that belt," stated Johnson. "I made a promise to my daughter at home that I will be coming back the WBC Heavyweight Champion of the World, and I have no intentions of breaking that promise."

"I know Kevin is a very dangerous and skilled opponent, much more than my last opponent Chris Arreola, and I am taking this fight very seriously," stated the champion Klitschko. "Looking at Kevin today I can see in his eyes that he truly believes he is coming here to win my title, he has no fear of me. Kevin is going to be a champion one day, just not on December 12th."

Following the press conference Johnson spoke with reporters and signed countless autographs for those in attendance.

On Saturday both Johnson and Klitschko were the guests of honors at the PostFinance Arena ice hockey game. The two took photos, met with more fans, and participated in the ceremonial dropping of the puck to start the game.

Following the game Johnson and Klitschko attended the post event cocktail party. At the party was where the 6'3" 240lb. intimidating looking Johnson, who originally hails from the rough streets of New Jersey, showed a much softer side.

"Without saying anything, Kevin walks up to the pianist in the middle of the room, asks him if he can sit down and with no hesitation starts playing," said DeGuardia. "Everyone was completely blown away. After playing for a few minutes and not missing one key or note, Kevin rose from the piano to a standing ovation."

"It's one of the many skills I have, just not a lot of people known about that one," says Johnson with a laugh.

On December 12th Johnson will look to use his better known boxing skills to dethrone Klitschko, finally bringing a heavyweight championship back to the U.S.

"To all my fans out there, stay tuned because Mr. Tall, Dark and Handsome is about to shock the world again. To all my haters, keep it up, I enjoy the motivation. On December 12th I am bringing the championship back to America were it rightfully belongs."

RUMBLE AT THE HILTON RYE TOWN II RESULTS

On Wednesday night at the Hilton Rye Town Hotel in Rye Brook, NY, Joe DeGuardia's Star Boxing presented an exciting five bout card before a near capacity crowd.

Headlining the show was former number one light heavyweight contender, and Westchester County native, David Telesco, taking on former two-time super middleweight champion, Bryon Mitchell, in a match-up of two explosive punchers.

                                   MITCHELL (R) STOPS TELESCO
Both fighters came out in the first looking to measure each other with their jabs, and find the range to land their power shots.

Near the end of the first a huge counter overhand right from Mitchell caught Telesco flush on the chin while Telesco was looking to exchange, sending him to the canvas just as the bell sounded to end the first. Telesco jumped up immediately, but seemed to be on shaky legs.

In the second Telesco began using his jab to keep Mitchell at bay, and landed a nice left hook midway through the round that seemed to stun the hard pressing Mitchell. With Telesco's back against the ropes Mitchell landed another huge counter overhand right just as Telesco was unleashing a left hook, dropping Telesco face first to the canvas.

Telesco tried to get to his feet, but was in no condition to continue, forcing the referee to call a halt to the contest at 2:08 of the second round.

With the win, Mitchell improves to 28-5-1, 21KO while Telesco drops to 30-7-1, 25KO.

                                  DOUGLAS DECISIONS SCHNEIDER
In the co-feature bout of the evening, former 1996 Guyana Olympian "Big" John Douglas improved to 7-14-3, 3KO with a controversial six round decision over local fan favorite Jon "The Fighting Marine" Schneider, who dropped to 7-4-1, 5KO.

It was evident from the opening bell that both Schneider and Douglas came to fight and were eager to engage at any chance they could.

Schneider was the sharper of the two, but Douglas was effective with his wide looping shots.

In the sixth and final round the two combatants went toe-to-toe not wanting to leave the decision up to the judge's scorecards.

When the judge's scorecards were announced declaring Douglas the split decision winner, the pro-Schneider crowd voiced their displeasure as the fight truly could have went either way.

ANDRADE TRAIN KEEPS ON ROLLING

On Saturday at the Twin River Event Center in Lincoln, Rhode Island, the 2007 U.S. Amateur Champion, and 2008 U.S. Olympian, Demetrius Andrade improved his record to (8-0, 6KO) by beating previously unbeaten Chris Chatman (4-1, 2KO) in front of his hometown fans. The bout was promoted by Joe DeGuardia's Star Boxing and Banner Promotions in association with Jimmy Burchfield's Classic Entertainment and Sports.

ANOTHER UNBEATEN, ANOTHER IMPRESSIVE SHOWING FOR ANDRADE
The 21-year-old Providence native Andrade, who is co- promoted by Joe DeGuardia's Star Boxing and Banner Promotions, and is widely considered to be boxing' s next superstar, came out in the first using his noticeable size and reach advantage to score telling blows to both the body and head of Chatman.

At the weigh-in on Friday words were exchanged between the two fighters, which concluded with Andrade promising to punish and Chatman, and that's just what he did, working off a crisp jab to continuously score vicious four and five punch combinations at will.

Andrade repeatedely, peppered Chatman from the outside. Chatman hung tough but he was outgunned by Andrade round after round. At the end of the day Andrade picked up another sensational victory, pitching a shut out on all three judges scorecards. For the highly touted Andrade this was his eighth fight as a professional in a little less than a year. Each time out he has been nothing less than spectacular and has showed why many boxing experts chose him as the top prospect to come out of the 2008 Olympics. Look for Andrade to be back in action very soon.

VIP BOXING II RESULTS

On Wednesday night Joe DeGuardia's Star Boxing presented it's second installment of VIP Boxing before a packed house at the beautiful Russo's On The Bay in Howard Beach, NY. The show featured six fights, an hour long cocktail party, followed by a five course meal of indescribable elegance.

                                 VARGAS (L) OUTWORKS NELSON (R)
Headlining the card was Star Boxing's heavyweight and the 2004 U.S. Olympic Team Captain "Devastain" Devin Vargas taking on Terrell "Baby Bull" Nelson.

Vargas came out in the first, scoring good combinations to both the body and head of the hard charging Nelson.

The middle rounds saw Vargas counter effectively from the outside. Vargas continuously landed a beautiful left hook to the body followed by a left hook to the head combination that began causing swelling under Nelson's right eye.

To Nelson's credit he kept coming, looking to exchange, but in the end, Vargas was too fast and too accurate, winning a clear cut unanimous decision.

After the fight it was revealed that Vargas severely injured his right hand in the first round, causing him to abandon the right and work solely off his left.

With the win, Vargas improves to 18-1, 7KO while Nelson drops to 8-9, 5KO.

BENITEZ RETURNS IN FASHION
The co-feature bout of the evening saw the return of Star Boxing's super bantamweight prospect Roberto Benitez, as he improved his record to a perfect 6-0, 3KO as he completely outworked Angel Paneto (4-6-2, 2KO) over six entertaining rounds.

Benitez, a 2000 U.S. Olympic team alternate, and 2004 Olympic teammate to Vargas, was coming off a three year layoff, but by his performance though it was hard to tell.

Benitez landed flush combinations, mixing it up to both the body and head, dropping his opponent various times throughout the fight. Somehow though Paneto was able to make it to the sixth and final bell.

In the end it was all Benitez as he didn't lose a round on any of the three judges scorecards. Look for Benitez to be back in action very soon.

RILEY LOOKS TO KEEP ON ROLLING AT VIP BOXING

On September 30th Joe DeGuardia's Star Boxing will present its second installment of VIP Boxing at the beautiful Russo's On The Bay in Howard Beach, NY. Headlining the show will be Star Boxing's heavyweight prospect, the 2004 U.S. Olympic Team Captain, "Devastatin" Devin Vargas (17-1, 7KO) taking on Terrell "Baby Bull" Nelson (8-8, 5KO).

"TERRIBLE" YATHOMAS "THE PUNISHER" RILEY
Fighting in the co-feature bout of the evening, will be Star Boxing's red hot light heavyweight, "Terrible" Yathomas "The Punisher" Riley (7-0, 5KO). Riley who is coming off two highlight real knockouts (TKO2 July 16th & KO1 August 1st) will be taking on Otgonbayer Daivii (3-2-1, 1KO). The bout is scheduled for six rounds in the light heavyweight division.

Riley, who hails from Miami-Dade County, but now lives and trains out of the Bronx, was the 2006 National Golden Gloves Champion. He turned pro in February of 2008, scoring a fourth round TKO over Borngod Washington. Since then Riley's stock has been on the rise.

RILEY WITH PROMOTER JOE DEGUARDIA
The southpaw Riley, a devastating puncher with knockout power in either hand, looked to be tested in his last fight when he took on Tiwon Taylor. Taylor, an experienced veteran with more then forty fights under his belt as a professional (26-15-1, 19KO), had been in with the likes of the Lou Del Valle, Elvir Muriqi, Omar Sheika, Adrian Diaconu, and Daniel Judah. In his last fight before taking on Riley, Taylor lost a close decision to world rated super middleweight contender, Joey Spina (25-1-1, 17KO). But just three minutes, and two knockdowns later, Riley had brutally stopped Taylor in the very first round.

"Yathomas keeps improving each time out," stated Joe DeGuardia, CEO and founder of Star Boxing. "His last two fights were supposed to be his toughest, and he completely annihilated both opponents we put in front of him. Anytime he steps in the ring you have to make sure you don't blink, because if you do you might miss the fight. We feel that Yathomas has the style the fans want to see, and the excitement and tenacity that he brings to the sport will enable him to become a fan-favorite and king of the light heavyweight division. We expect another fantastic showing from him come September 30th."

The show will kick off at 7PM sharp with an hour long cocktail reception. ANDRADE PUTS ON A SHOW FOR HOMETOWN FANS

DEMETRIUS ANDRADE

Demetrius Andrade promised to put on a spectacular performance in front of his hometown fans on Friday night, and he did not disappoint. Fighting in the co-feature bout of the evening at the Twin River Event Center in Lincoln, RI, the Providence native Andrade improved his record to (7-0, 6KO), completely dominated previously undefeated John Williams (3-1-1, 2KO) stopping him in the final round of their scheduled six round jr. middleweight contest.

The 2007 amateur world champion and 2008 U.S. Olympian Andrade, who is co-promoted by Joe DeGuardia's Star Boxing and Banner Promotions, is widely considered to be the top prospect in all of boxing and with performance like this, it would be hard to argue otherwise.

The undefeated Williams, who was a three- time golden gloves champion as an amateur, was supposed to be a test for the young 21- year-old Andrade, but right from the opening bell Andrade's blazing hand speed and concussive power were on display. Andrade scored with damaging combinations to both the body and head of Williams throughout the fight.

In the sixth and final round Andrade began to really pour it on. With Williams taking heavy punishment the referee called a halt to the contest. Official time of the stoppage was 2:33. It was yet another very impressive performance by the highly touted Andrade. Look for him to be back in action very soon.

The Demetrius Andrade - John Williams bout was promoted by Joe DeGuardia's Star Boxing and Banner Promotions, in association with Jimmy Burchfield's Classic Entertainment and Sports.

MOHEGAN SUN WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING RESULTS

RODRIGUEZ and HLATSHWAYO BATTLED IT OUT FOR ANOTHER TWELVE ENTERTAINING ROUNDS

On Saturday night, Joe DeGuardia's Star Boxing put together an exciting seven bout card before a packed house at the Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, CT.

In the main event Star Boxing's IBF #2 rated welterweight, Delvin Rodriguez battled IBF #3 rated Isaac Hlatshwayo for the vacant IBF Welterweight Championship of the World. The fight was a rematch of their highly entertaining draw that took place back in November of last year.

The fight started well for Rodriguez as he was the much busier fighter, landing clean shots to both the head and body of the South African Hlatshwayo. In the second, a right hand staggered Hlatshwayo, but he showed guts as he continued to press forward, taking some big shots from Rodriguez in the process.

There was good two way action in the middle rounds, with Rodriguez looking to box as Hlatshwayo pressed forward looking to fight on the inside. Rodriguez's right hand continued to connect from the outside and the effects began to show on Hlatshwayo's face as his left eye began closing.

The action continued into the twelfth and final round with both fighters eagerly exchanging toe-to-toe, not wanting to leave the decision up to the judge's scorecards. In the end judge Glen Feldman had the bout 115-113 for Rodriguez but was overturned by judge Tony Paolillo who had it 116-112 and judge Isaac Tshabalala who scored it 116-113 for Hlatshwayo.

It was a very tough loss for Rodriguez to swallow as he seemingly did enough once again to get the decision win over Hlatshwayo. Unfortunately the judges didn't agree yet again. With the loss Rodriguez drops to 24-3- 2, 14KO while Hlatshwayo improves to 29-1-1, 10KO.

*Rodriguez will now need to see a doctor as he reportedly suffered an injury to his right hand midway through the fight*

                                         ANDRADE WITH PROMOTER JOE DEGUARDIA

In the co-feature bout of the evening, the 2007 amateur world champion, and 2008 U.S. Olympian, Demetrius "Boo Boo" Andrade improved to a perfect 6-0, 5KO with a spectacular second round knockout over Chad Greenleaf (11-13-1, 5KO).

Andrade, who is co-promoted by Star Boxing and Banner Promotions, showed why he is widely considered to be the top prospect in all of boxing, with a near perfect performance.

Andrade displayed his blinding hand speed in the first, landing with four and five punch combinations to both the body and head of Greenleaf. In the second round a huge right hook to the body completely crippled Greenleaf as he hit the canvas hard. In no shape to continue the referee called a halt to the contest. Official time of the stoppage was 1:38 of the second round. Look for Andrade to be back in action very soon.

Marvelous Tarvis Simms moved one step closer to a major fight in the middleweight division with an impressive eight round decision over Marcus Upshaw.

Simms, who is now back fighting under the Star Boxing banner, used good combinations to outwork the much taller Upshaw throughout. In the fourth a left hook from Simms dropped Upshaw but he was able to survive the round.

Upshaw hung tough, but in the end Simms simply had too much fire power. With the victory Simms improves to 25-0-1, 11KO while Upshaw drops to 11-4-1, 5KO.
Star Boxing's welterweight prospect, Raymond "Tito" Serrano improved his record to 10-0, 6KO with a third round TKO over Jessie Davis (11-14, 8KO).

Davis was eager to exchange, but Serrano simply had too much power. Serrano continuously tagged Davis with huge shots through the first three rounds but to his credit Davis continued to come forward.

In the third, a beautiful right hook to the head, followed by a huge left hook to the body sent Davis to the canvas. Davis was able to beat the count, but Serrano soon after pinned Davis against the ropes and began unloading heavy shots. With Davis being punished the referee jumped in and called a halt to the contest at 2:02 of the third round.

Light heavyweight Yathomas Riley celebrated his 27th birthday in fashion, by picking up his second impressive knockout victory in less then three weeks by knocking out veteran Tiwon Taylor (26-16-1, 19KO) at 2:59 of the very first round.

Riley, who is promoted by Star Boxing, was in command throughout the first, dropping Taylor midway through the round. Just as the bell was to sound to end the first a huge straight right sent Taylor down again, this time hard. Although the round was ending the stoppage was a smart decision. It was a very impressive victory for the light heavyweight prospect Riley who improved his record to 7-0, 5KO.

Undercard Results:

Q and A with Star Boxing’s Hot Welterweight Prospect
Ray “Tito”Serrano!

On August 1st, Star Boxing's welterweight prospect Raymond "Tito" Serrano (9-0, 5KO) will look to stay undefeated when he takes on Jessie Davis (11-13, 8KO) on the undercard of the Delvin Rodriguez vs. Issac Hlatswahyo matchup for the vacant IBF Welterweight Championship of the World. Rodriguez vs. Hlatshwayo will be a rematch of their highly entertaining draw that took place back in November of last year. The Star Boxing promoted card will be held at the beautiful Mohegan Sun Resort and Casino in Uncasville, CT.
Serrano recently took time out of his busy training schedule to talk about his career, and his upcoming fight on the 1st.

Q: Raymond how has everything been leading up to this fight?

RS: Everything has been great. I have been in the gym training for the last five months, so I know I am going to be in great shape come fight night. This is going to be my second fight in a row at the Mohegan Sun and I'm really looking forward to putting on another good performance for all those in attendance.

Q: Your last fight was March 6th on ESPN2 "Friday Night Fights". It was your first co- feature fight, and it was also the first time you were on national TV. What did you take away from the fight, and were you happy with your performance?

RS: Yes, I was very happy with my performance. I know that I made a couple mistakes, but I use every fight as a learning experience, so that I don't make those same mistakes in the future.

Q: What mistakes do you think you made?

RS: Well it was my first fight on national TV and I had the guy down in the first and after that I got a little bit over anxious trying to knock him out. After the first though I calmed down and started boxing again and I won the fight easily, so overall I think it was a good performance.

Q: What is your game plan going into this fight?

RS: To be honest, I don't know much about my opponent. I hear he is tough so we will see. I know though that as long as I stick to my game plan, and do the things I have been working on in training that there is no doubt I will come out victorious.

Q: You were one of the lead sparring partners for Manny Pacquiao as he prepared to face Ricky Hatton, what was that like for you?

RS: That was a dream come true for me. To have the opportunity to be in the same ring with the number one pound for pound in the world, well it just doesn't get much better then that. I learned a lot from working with Manny. I couldn't have asked for a better experience, especially at such an early stage in my career. I believe that I am going back out to prepare him for his fight with Cotto and I am really looking forward to it.

Q: You are still very young, just 20-years-old. What kind of timeline do you have for yourself in your career?

RS: Well I think Joe (Serrano's promoter is Joe DeGuardia's Star Boxing) has moved me along well. Like you said I am still young, but I am also very hungry. I want to continue to stay busy and continue to keep moving up the ranks in the welterweight division. I feel that in another two years I will be ready to take on any of the big names in the division, and hopefully get the opportunity to fight for a world championship.

Q: When did you start working with trainer Danny Davis?

RS: I started working with Danny after my second fight as pro.

Q: What has Danny changed, or improved on in your game?

RS: Danny has improved a lot of things in my game. He has a lot of experience working with world class fighters, so when he tells me things, I listen to them. He has made me a much better fighter.

One of my favorite things about working with Danny is the work we do on the pads. I believe his pad work is second to none. It has really improved the combinations I throw. I mean anyone who has done the pads for Bernard Hopkins is good enough for me (laughs Serrano).

Q: Other then becoming champion of the world, do you have any other aspirations you want to fulfill in your career in boxing?

RS: I want to have a major fight in my native country of Puerto Rico. I fought there when I was an amateur but not yet as a pro. The atmosphere over there is absolutely crazy! There is nothing like Puerto Rican fans, I truly believe they are the best boxing fans in the world.

Q: Anything you would like to say in closing?

RS: I want to thank all my fans who have continued to show their support for me throughout my career. I want to encourage everyone to be there Saturday August 1st, as I am going to put on another great performance that no one will want to miss.

Star Boxing's Curtis "Showtime" Stevens (21-2, 15) showed why he is one of the most feared super middleweights in the world, with a sensational third round TKO over previously unbeaten Piotr Wilczewski (22-1, 7KO).

Stevens came out in the first round firing, eventually dropping Wilczewski hard with a right uppercut. Luckily for Wilczewski the end of the round was near and he was able to survive.

In the third a huge left uppercut from Stevens dropped Wilczewski hard again. He was able to get to his feet but was visibly still hurt. Stevens seized the opportunity and jumped all over Wilczewski. With Wilczewski being helplessly beaten against the ropes, the referee called a halt to the contest at 1:47 of the third round.

It was a huge win for Stevens as he showed why he is a serious contender in the super middleweight division.

Andrade Spectacular Once Again!

Boxing's hottest young star, 2007 amateur world champion, and 2008 U.S. Olympian Demetrius "Boo Boo" Andrade improved his record to a perfect 5-0, 4KO with an impressive four round decision win over Tony Hirsch (8-2-1, 4KO) on ESPN2's "Friday Night Fights". It was Andrade's third showing on FNF this year, and just as in the previous two he looked spectacular.

DEMETRIUS ANDRADE
The 21-year-old Providence, RI native Andrade, who is co-promoted by Joe DeGuardia's Star Boxing and Banner Promotions, used his speed and height advantage to out work and out box Hirsch.

Hirsch was game but was simply not on the same level of the highly touted Andrade.

Look for Andrade to be back in action very soon.

Undefeated and world ranked heavyweight contender Kevin Johnson (22-0-1, 9KO) has one question for The Klitschko Management Group, "What time does the next flight to Germany leave?" Johnson, coming off an impressive TKO victory over undefeated US Olympic Team Captain Devin Vargas on May 15th looks to prove he is the leading US heavyweight contender and next heavyweight champion. "It's as simple as picking up the phone and calling Star Boxing," Johnson stated after learning that David Haye pulled out of his June 20th match with Wladimir Klitschko. "I'm ready to show the entire world what boxing experts already know, the next heavyweight champion of the world is from the United States and his name is Kevin Johnson."

HARRAH'S RESULTS

On May 15th Joe DeGuardia's Star Boxing presented a thrilling five bout card at The Concert Venue at Harrah's Resort in Atlantic City, NJ. The card was broadcast live on the always exciting ESPN2 "Friday Night Fights".

KINGPIN CEMENTS POSITION AS TOP AMERICAN HEAVY
The main event bout of the evening carried heavy implications for boxing, especially heavyweight boxing, as two of America's best heavyweight prospects Kevin "Kingpin Johnson (21-0-1, 8KO) and "Devastatin" Devin Vargas (17-0, 7KO) put their undefeated records on the line to stake their claim as the number one American heavyweight in the world.

Round one started out with Vargas looking to get inside and land combinations against Johnson as Johnson looked to measure Vargas from the outside with his jab. Early on it was clear Johnson had the quicker hands but the smaller Vargas was outworking the bigger Johnson.

Round two began with both fighters trading heavy shots. Johnson began unleashing a lethal left hook but Vargas would respond well as he continued to press forward and land shots to both the body and head while on the inside.

Vargas landed thunderous blows to start the third while Johnson laid on the ropes shaking his head as if the punches had no affect. With thirty seconds left in the round Johnson landed three vicious left hooks that stunned Vargas. With Vargas against the ropes Johnson began unloading heavy shots. Right as the ten second bell sounded Vargas took a knee to avoid further punishment.

In the fifth round Johnson forced Vargas to take another knee. Just as Vargas seemed ready to go he landed a huge right hand and left hook that seemed to get Johnson's attention. The fighters closed the round exchanging blows.

In the sixth round Johnson began showing he was just too fast and too strong for Vargas as he began landing at will. With Vargas taking punishment against the ropes his corner threw in the towel, giving Johnson the TKO victory.

It was a very entertaining fight and the biggest win in Johnson's career. Johnson improved his record to 22-0-1, 9KO's as he scored his third consecutive knockout in a row, this time against highly regarded, undefeated 2004 Olympic team captain Devin Vargas. With the loss Vargas's record falls to (17-1, 7KO's).

TERON WINS STAR BOXING DEBUT
In the co-feature bout of the evening Jorge "The Truth" Teron (23-1-1, 15KO) made his Star Boxing debut a successful one and avenged the only loss of his career when he defeated the always tough and game Aldo Valtierra (25-11, 13KO) in a ten round lightweight affair.

From the opening bell Teron showed he was much quicker and much shaper then the Mexican Valtierra. Valtierra hung tough but the longer Teron continuously peppered him with crisp combinations to both the body and head from the outside while Valtierra kept coming forward looking to score on the inside.

Valtierra gave a very spirited effort, but in the end Teron was busier and more accurate with his punches, earning him a clear cut ten round unanimous decision.
Undercard Results: Bruce Seldon TKO 5 Gabe Brown, Chuck Mussachio W6 Carl Daniels, John Lennox W4 Robert Brown.

VIP BOXING RESULTS

On Tuesday Night Joe DeGuardia's Star Boxing, presented its first installment of "VIP Boxing" at the elegant Russo's On The Bay in Howard Beach, NY. The card was made up of five entertaining fights, headlined by Star Boxing's heavyweight fan favorite Vinny Maddalone taking on Benji "Boom Boom" Baker.

MADDALONE DOESN'T DISAPPOINT
Maddalone, who is known for his all-action come forward style, didn't disappoint his hometown fans, going straight at Baker from the opening bell, landing huge left hooks and thunderous overhand rights. A big overhand right as the bell sounded to end the first sent Baker down hard.

Rounds two and three saw more of the same from Maddalone, as he continuously stalked Baker, opening up on him with any chance he could. A heavy barrage of punches from Maddalone caused Baker to take a knee towards the end of round three.

In the fourth round a huge left hook to the body sent Baker down hard, Baker survived the round, but was clearly in bad shape. Upon the advice of the ringside physician the bout was stopped after the 4th, giving Maddalone the TKO victory. With the victory Maddalone improved his record to (32-5, 23KO) while Baker dropped to (18-6, 9KO). The victory sets up a huge international fight for Maddalone this summer. More details to come soon.

STEVENS, MOUTON GO TO WAR
In the co-feature bout of the evening, Star Boxing's exciting super middleweight Curtis "Showtime" Stevens improved to 20-2, 14KO, winning an eight round war over dangerous Don Mouton (9-4-1, 8KO).

Mouton showed a granite chin throughout, but Stevens simply had too much fire power. Stevens worked off a good jab to set up his lethal left hook that seemed to connect every time he threw it. When Mouton would cover up on the ropes Stevens would open up, landing beautiful four and five punch combinations, but to Mouton's credit he took the shots well.

Each fighter had their moments throughout, but Stevens punches seemed to have much more of an effect. In the 8th and final round both fighters engaged in a heavy exchange bringing the packed house to a standing ovation. All in all it was a very impressive performance for Stevens as he improved to a perfect 3- 0 under the Star Boxing banner.

ESPN2 FRIDAY NIGHT FIGHTS RESULTS STAR BOXING SCORES A HAT TRICK: RODRIGUEZ, SERRANO, ANDRADE ALL VICTORIOUS

PHOTO BY STAR BOXING PHOTOGRAPHER MARTY ROSENGARTEN

On Friday March 6th Star Boxing put together an exciting seven bout card at the beautiful Mohegan Sun Resort and Casino in Uncasville, CT. The card, which was aired live on ESPN2's "Friday Night Fights" featured Star Boxing's top welterweight contenders Delvin Rodriguez defending his USBA welterweight championship against Shamone "The Truth" Alvarez. At stake was not only the USBA welterweight title, but also the number two ranking in the IBF world ratings.

RODRIGUEZ DEFENDS USBA CROWN
On Friday March 6th Star Boxing put together an exciting seven bout card at the beautiful Mohegan Sun Resort and Casino in Uncasville, CT. The card, which was aired live on ESPN2's "Friday Night Fights" was highlighted by Star Boxing's top welterweight contenders Delvin Rodriguez defending his USBA welterweight championship against Shamone "The Truth" Alvarez. At stake was not only the USBA welterweight title, but also the number two ranking in the IBF world ratings.

Alvarez started fast, charging right at the defending champion Rodriguez while Rodriguez looked to establish his jab and box from the outside. A straight left hand briefly staggered Rodriguez mid way through the first round but that seemed to only wake up Rodriguez as he began connecting with his right hand from the outside.

The middle rounds saw each fighter land telling blows, rocking each other on more than one occasion. Every time it seemed as though Rodriguez would begin to develop a steady rhythm, Alvarez would land a big left hand from his southpaw stance.

As the rounds progressed on, Rodriguez seemed to be in control landing the harder punches from the outside, while Alvarez looked to close the distance with wide hooks, and straight lefts.

In the 11th round a straight right hand from Rodriguez dropped Alvarez but Alvarez seemed to be more stunned then actually hurt and fought back hard the rest of the round.

In the twelfth round Rodriguez stunned Alvarez, and went in for the kill throwing everything he had at Alvarez. With Rodriguez opening up Alvarez threw a perfect counter that rocked Rodriguez. With both fighters right eyes closing, they traded in the center of the ring until the final bell sounded.

After twelve grueling rounds, Rodriguez was awarded a close unanimous decision improving his record to (24-2-2, 14KO) while Alvarez dropped to (20-2, 11KO).

SERRANO DECISIONS KRUPP
In the co-feature bout of the evening, Star Boxing's 19-year-old welterweight phenom Raymond "Tito" Serrano took on once beaten "Smokin" Jay Krupp in a six round welterweight contest.

The first round started out quick with both fighters firing shots. A huge overhand right sent Krupp down hard, but Krupp was able to beat the count. The round ended with each fighter standing toe-to-toe firing shots.

Round two started where round two left off with both Serrano and Krupp trading at any chance they could. Serrano seemed to be the busier of the fighter, and closed the round strong landing a big left hook.

These heavy exchanges became a common theme for the rest of the fight and after six hard fought entertaining rounds, Serrano was awarded a well-deserved unanimous decision. With the victory Serrano improves his record to (9-0, 5KO) while Krupp drops to (12-2, 5KO).

ANDRADE SHINES IN ESPN2 DEBUT
In the first televised bout of the evening 2007 amateur world champion and 2008 U.S. Olympian Demetrius "Boo Boo" Andrade (3-0, 3KO) needed less than one round to completely annihilate Tom Joseph (4-2-1) in his ESPN2 "Friday Night Fights" debut.

Andrade, who is co-promoted by Joe DeGuardia's Star Boxing and Art Pelullo's Banner Promotions, showed why many considered him to be the top amateur prospect to come out of the Olympics, as he came out firing blistering combinations to both the head and body of his opponent. Andrade showed tremendous hand speed, seemingly landing every meaningful shot he threw. Joseph showed heart by hanging tough but Andrade was simply too much. With Joseph absorbing heavy punishment the referee called a halt to the contest at 1:53.

Other Results: Tyrone Miles W4 Chris Aucoin, Josh Harris KO1 David Williams, Frank Trader KO2 Edwin Rosado, Simeon Dunwell W4 Shakha Moore.

A FAMILY AFFAIR ROONEY VS. ROONEY
ROUND 1 KICKED OFF MARCH 6TH AT MOHEGAN SUN

On March 6th at the Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, CT Star Boxing's 19-year-old welterweight phenom Raymond "Tito" Serrano (8-0, 5KO) will step into the ring against world renowned trainer, Kevin Rooney Sr.'s protégé "Smokin" Jay Krupp (12-1, 5KO). The bout is scheduled for eight rounds in the welterweight division and will be that evening's ESPN2 "Friday Night Fights" co-main event.

Standing across the ring from Team Krupp on fight night will be a very familiar face, Rooney's son Kevin Jr. Kevin Jr., who serves as the Director of Media Relations for Serrano's promotional company Star Boxing, has known Krupp for the past eight years, serving as both a friend and even assistant trainer at times during Krupp's career.

Rooney Jr. graduated from Fordham University in 2006 and has been working with Joe DeGuardia's Star Boxing since early 2008. Rooney Sr. is most famous for his work with former undisputed heavyweight champion of the world Mike Tyson. After the death of Cus D'Amato, Rooney Sr. guided Tyson to becoming the youngest heavyweight champion ever, winning the belt when he was just 20 years old.

PHOTO BY STAR BOXING PHOTOGRAPHER MARTY ROSENGARTEN

                    ROONEY JR. WITH JOE DEGUARDIA:
"There will definitely be some weird feelings standing in the opposite corner from my father and Jay come fight night," stated Rooney Jr. "I have known Jay for a long time now, I consider him one of my good friends, so of course I want him to do well, and be successful in his boxing career. That being said, business is business and Raymond is our guy. It makes it even harder for me because since working at Star, Raymond and I have built a very good relationship with one another. If there was a way that both guys could come out victorious that would be great, but that's not the business we are in. Bottom line I am just hoping that it turns out to be great fight which we are all expecting it to be, and most importantly that both Raymond and Jay walk away from the fight safe and sound."

KEVIN ROONEY SR: PHOTO BY LISA SCOTT
"Not only is KC (the name Rooney Sr. uses for Kevin Jr.) my son but he is also my best friend, but come March 6th he is going to be my enemy," jokes Rooney Sr. "I told him not to worry about any hard feeling's, Jay and I both know this is a business and that KC will have to be on Serrano's side for this fight. It will definitely be a first for us though. We have been in the ring together so many times before, whether it was when KC was fighting or when he was helping me out with my fighters, but never before on opposite sides. It's an exciting moment for me as a father though seeing the success my son is experiencing with Star Boxing, and I wish nothing but the best for him and all of the fighters on the Star Boxing roster."

On March 6th, Delvin Rodriguez (23-2-2, 14KO) will look to defend his USBA welterweight championship, and earn the number two ranking in the IBF world ratings when he takes on highly touted welterweight contender Shamone "The Truth" Alvarez (20-1, 11KO). The bout will take place at the Mohegan Sun Resort and Casino in Uncasville, CT and be broadcast live as that evening's ESPN2 "Friday Night Fights" main event.

To get prepared for the slick southpaw Alvarez, Rodriguez and his camp called on the services of two of Star Boxing's other prized fighter's Raymond "Tito" Serrano (8-0, 5KO) and Demetrius "Boo Boo" Andrade (2-0, 2KO), who coincidently will both be fighting on the undercard on March 6th. Andrade will open the "Friday Night Fights" telecast with Serrano fighting in the live co-feature.

Although Rodriguez lives in Danbury, CT he trains in the Catskills, at his manager Stan Hoffman's training camp in Kerhonkson, NY. Hoffman has owned and operated the camp, which is made up of a Victorian mansion, a separate three bedroom house, a cabin, a full operating boxing gym, and an outdoor track, for the last 25 years. The camp can house up to 19 fighters at one time.

"This is the second straight camp that Serrano has come up to help me prepare for a fight, but this was the first time I worked with Demetrius though," stated Rodriguez. "I really appreciate them coming up here and working with me. They are two really good prospects and I see a very bright future for both of them. As the more experienced professional I try to help them out in anyway I can, inside and outside the ring. Hopefully what I am trying to tell them will benefit them in their careers and make them better fighters, both physically and mentally."

                                        RAYMOND "TITO" SERRANO
"Working with Delvin is a great learning experience for me at this stage of my career," said the 19-year-old Serrano who will compete in his first scheduled eight rounder and first nationally televised co-feature when he takes on once beaten "Smokin" Jay Krupp (12-1, 5 KO). "We work really good together, and I think it's great that we are both promoted by Star Boxing, and both being able to help each other out for our fight's on March 6th."

                                   DEMETRIUS "BOO BOO" ANDRADE
Andrade, the 2007 amateur world champion, and 2008 Olympian, voiced a similar opinion as Serrano. "It's like we are one big happy family here at Star Boxing," said Andrade with a smile. "I think it's pretty special that the three of us are promoted by the same promoter (Andrade is also co-promoted by Art Pelullo's Banner Promotions), all fighting on ESPN2, and all working together to help each other get ready for our upcoming fights. It is going to be a very exciting night of boxing and I foresee a clean sweep for Star Boxing on March 6th."

Also on the line will be the number two ranking in the IBF world ratings.

                    DEMETRIUS "BOO BOO" ANDRADE
Andrade, who is co-promoted by Joe DeGuardia's Star Boxing, and Art Pelullo's Banner Promotions, was last seen in action in his home state of Rhode Island on November 29th where he handed out a vicious four round beating of Eric Marriott before the referee finally called a halt to the contest at 50 seconds of the fourth round.

Andrade, who was chosen by ESPN.com's Dan Rafael as one of boxing's top prospects this past year, has been very impressive thus far in his young pro career, garnering rave reviews from some of boxing's top experts. "The Providence, R.I., native nicknamed "Boo Boo" was the best pro prospect on the 2008 U.S. Olympic team and first squad member to turn pro in October. Besides making the Olympics, Andrade, who started boxing at age 6, was an amateur world champion, two-time U.S. national champion and two-time national Golden Gloves champion. He has everything you like to see in a rising talent: good size (he's 6-foot-1), a deep amateur background, fast hands, power and ring smarts," stated Rafael.

"I feel very blessed to be given an opportunity to showcase my skills on ESPN2 this early in my career," stated Andrade. "I want to thank my promoters Star Boxing and Banner Promotions for putting this fight together and am just really looking forward to getting a chance to perform to the best of my ability on March 6th. The Mohegan Sun is just about an hour or so from my home in Providence, RI so I am looking forward to having my fans and family there supporting me and cheering me on. It is always nice to get a chance to perform in front of them, to me it's my way of giving back to them and saying thank you for all the support you have shown me throughout my career. I plan on opening the "Friday Night Fights" show with some serious fireworks so make sure to tune in early because I promise you are not going to want to miss it. I am ready to start taking my career to the next level in 2009 and it all starts on the 6th."

The card was broadcast live on the always entertaining ESPN2 "Friday Night Fights".

From the first round on it was all Robinson though as he displayed great hand speed and ring generalship landing crisp combinations to both the head of body of Jiles. With Robinson seemingly landing at will Jiles did not answer the bell to sound round four, giving Robinson a well deserved third round TKO.

RILEY PHENOMENAL IN TV DEBUT In the opening TV bout of the evening, Star Boxing's hot light heavyweight prospect Yathomas Riley (6-0,3KO) dominated the very tough Julius Jackson (2-3), winning a four round unanimous decision. STAR BOXING RESULTS FROM BALLY'S IN ATLANTIC CITY NEW JERSEY

Nov 08, 2008 On Friday Night before a sold out crowd, Joe DeGuardia's Star Boxing presented yet another exciting night of boxing at the beautiful Bally's Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City, NJ. The seven bout card which featured some of boxing's hottest up and coming prospects was headlined by the WBA #5 rated heavyweight in the world Kevin "Kingpin" Johnson taking on Matt Greer in a ten round heavyweight contest.

KINGPIN DESTROYS GREER

Johnson came out looking very determined as he immediately began firing blistering shots at Greer. Greer who has never been stopped as a professional showed his toughness as he refused to go down throughout the fight. Johnson's accuracy was on display as he seemingly landed every single punch he threw. With Greer's face covered in blood, and the amount of punishment he was taking, his corner had no choice but to throw in the towel mid way through the third round. It was a very impressive victory for Johnson who showed once again he has tremendous power along with lightening quick hands and surely is the #1 heavyweight prospect in the world. With the victory Johnson improves to (21-0-1, 8KO) while his opponent Greer drops to (12-4, 11KO).

CAUTHEN, ALVAREZ BATTLE TO THE FINISH

In the co-feature bout of the evening, Star Boxing welterweights Terrance Cauthen (33-5, 9KO) and Shamone Alvarez (20-1, 11KO) participated in the fight of the night, with Alvarez, who is co-promoted by Joe DeGuardia's Star Boxing and Warriors Boxing winning a close majority decision. Alvarez pressed the fight as Cauthen landed good lead right hooks and straight left hands from the outside. When Alvarez would get in close enough he would throw vicious combinations to the body trying to slow down Cauthen's movement. This is when the best action of the fight happened as Cauthen would willingly engage with Alvarez, each fighter landing heavy blows. Right before the third round ended Alvarez landed a straight left handed followed by a right hook that briefly staggered Cauthen. Cauthen fell to a knee but immediately jumped right back up as he seemed to be more off balance then actually hurt.

RAYMOND SERRANO WINS AGAIN

On the undercard, Star Boxing's 19-year-old welterweight phenom, Raymond Serrano improved his record to (8-0, 5KO) with a win over game Shakha Moore (10-13-2, 2KO). It was an exciting fight from the get go, as Serrano went right at Moore looking to take his more experienced opponent out in the very first round. Moore showed guts throughout the fight, never giving into the relentless attack of Serrano. After six hard fought, exciting rounds, Serrano was awarded a well deserved unanimous decision. It was the first time Serrano had gone six rounds and he seemed to do it with ease. Expect to see the exciting Serrano back in action very soon.

CURTIS STEVENS ANNIHILATES SMITH

In a battle of super middleweights, Star Boxing's Curtis "Showtime" Stevens completely annihilated Ray Smith, knocking Smith out at 48 seconds of the very first round. A right hand sent Smith to the ropes and a thunderous left hook to the temple sent Smith crashing to the canvas. Smith attempted to get up but was in no condition to continue as he stumbled all the way across the ropes before the referee grabbed him, preventing him from collapsing again. Stevens improves his record to 19-2, 14KO while Smith drops to 8-3, 2KO.

WELCOME TO THE MAJORS DEMETRIUS ANDRADE!
2008 Olympian's Pro-Debut Nothing Less Than Spectacular

Demetrius Andrade was the most sought after Olympian following the 2008 Olympics. Anyone who witnessed him competing in the amateurs always said, as good as he was in the amateur ranks, he would only be that much better as a professional. As both of his co- promoters Joe DeGuardia of Star Boxing and Art Pelullo of Banner Promotions have stated time and time again, "Demetrius has all the tools to be the next big superstar in boxing." Those tools, which include lightening quick hands, along with an excellent jab, and crisp combination punching to both the head and body, were all on display in his pro-debut, televised live nationally on Versus, Thursday October 23rd from the Northern Quest Casino in Airway Heights, Washington. Andrade completely destroyed his opponent Patrick Cape (4-3, 2 KOs) stopping him at :24 seconds of the second round.

DEMETRIUS ANDRADE

Andrade, the first 2008 U.S. Olympian to make his pro-debut, came out stalking Cape from the opening bell, measuring his opponent up with his long jab. When Andrade got close enough he would unleash a devastating left hand right down the middle that repeatedly snapped Cape's head back and had him reeling just seconds into the fight. Cape realizing that he would not stand a chance with Andrade by staying on the outside attempted to get in close and tie up Andrade. Showing tremendous poise and ring generalship, especially for someone making their pro- debut, Andrade would flurry while on the inside with crisp combinations to both the head and body not allowing his opponent to get a breather. At the end of the first round with Cape holding his right arm, Andrade unleashed two thundering left hooks to the body, followed by an overhand left that dropped Cape for the count of nine. The left to the head was what put Cape down, but the second left hook to the body was the real damaging blow. Cape was literally saved by the bell as the round ended before the referee could signal the resumption of the ring hostilities.

Andrade began the second round going right at Cape looking to put him away. A straight left hand landed flush on Cape's jaw while was trying to pull away and Cape went down immediately. Rather then even start his count the referee called a halt to the contest at :24 seconds of the second round.

It was a great showing for the highly touted, former amateur world champion. Although it was just his first fight, for those watching it was hard to disagree with the notion that Andrade is truly something special. Look for Andrade to be back in action very shortly.

Defending and Saving Lives
While Fighting for His Own
Cop/Boxer Pappas Does it All!

On Wednesday October 29th at the Roseland Ballroom in New York City, middleweight Bryant Pappas (6-0, 6KO) will step into the ring against Christ Morton looking to stay perfect and improve his record to 7-0 with 7 knockouts.    In the main event of the evening the WBO #7, IBF #10, WBA #11, and WBC #15 rated Jr. welterweight in the world, "Mighty" Mike Arnaoutis (20-2-2, 10KO) takes on Ben Ankrah (19-6-1, 9KO). The entire card will be broadcast live on GoFightLive.tv.

UNDEFEATED SGT. BRYANT PAPPAS
When Pappas is not knocking people out in the boxing ring he works full-time as a Yonkers Housing Police Sgt. Pappas has been working for the Yonkers Police Department for almost ten years now, and recently was involved in the very high-profile arrest Friday October 3rd of 43 year old Eric Hadar. Hadar is the CEO of Allied Partners, one of the New York City's top real estate firms owning 25 properties valued at more than $3 billion.

According to an article in the NY Daily News, while driving to work Pappas noticed Hadar's car swerving in and out of traffic recklessly along the Saw Mill Parkway headed towards Yonkers. "I couldn't believe the way he was driving," stated Pappas. "He was all over the place, passing cars on the shoulder, weaving in and out of lanes, it was amazing that he didn't hit anyone. I called the station and told them to get a few cars ready to pull the guy over once he got into Yonkers. If he wasn't pulled over I honestly believe he would have killed someone."

Upon arriving in Yonkers Hadar's car was stopped. As Sgt. Pappas approached the vehicle, he noticed Hagar trying to stuff brown bags into his glove compartment. Further examination of the brown bags revealed Hagar had on him 100 + grams of cocaine and 703 Oxycontin pills and 352 Xanax pills. Although the quantity of drugs found in Hadar's vehicle "is indicative of an intent to sell", Pappas does not believe the millionaire real estate mogul is a drug dealer. "He told us he was on his way to a party for the Jewish New Year (Rosh Hashanah). Either way, I am just happy no one was injured, and that these drugs were taken off the streets," stated Pappas.

As if Pappas's daily heroic efforts that come with his position as Sgt. aren't enough, he has decided to donate his entire purse on the 29th to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in NYC. "It is just another opportunity for me to give back. Sloan Kettering is one of the premier cancer centers in all the world, and I am lucky to be in the position where I can contribute, so I do."

Oh yeah, and his fight on the 29th? "I can't wait," stated an excited Pappas. "Boxing is always something I have had a strong passion for. I don't know what will come of my boxing career, but right now I am just happy that I have been given the opportunity to do something I love. I expect the show on the 29th to be fantastic. You have Vinny Maddalone in the co-feature and "Mighty" Mike Arnaoutis in the main event. I am looking forward to fighting on the same card as my fellow Greek Arnaoutis. I hear he brings a lot of Greek fans, and so will I so I expect the atmosphere to be something special. I want to thank Joe DeGuardia and Star Boxing for giving me the opportunity to fight, and hope everyone can make it out to the show."

STAR BOXING'S YOUNG STAR RAYMOND SERRANO
ANNIHILATES OPPONENT IN VERY FIRST ROUND!!!
BRONX, NY - Aug 31, 2008: Raymond Serrano (7-0, 5KO's), Star Boxing's 19   year old welterweight phenomenon, scored a first round knockout over veteran Jimmy LeBlanc (11-15-4, 3KO's) Friday night at the New Alhambra in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Serrano came out very aggressive and started landing big shots against his opponent. Serrano seemed to be on a completely different level then the much more experienced LeBlanc as he continuously teed off on his opponent with huge over hand rights. Serrano dropped his opponent three times before the referee called a halt to the contest at 2:37 of the very first round. "I felt great coming in," said Serrano. He was looking to box so I knew right away I was going to have to put a lot of pressure on him. I knew after I hit him with the first big right hand that it would only be a matter of time before I stopped him. It was great fighting here in Philadelphia, and I want to thank everyone who came out to see me tonight. I am going to enjoy the holiday weekend and then I will be back in the gym on Wednesday. I am looking to fight hopefully at the end of September maybe early October, whatever my promoter Joe DeGuardia and Star Boxing put together for me I will be ready to go." Serrano improves his record to 7-0, 5KO's. About Star Boxing

ARNAOUTIS MOVES CLOSER TO TITLE SHOT WITH DOMINATING PERFORMANCE OVER ANKRAH

The Pride of Greece, "Mighty" Mike Arnaoutis took one step closer to a title shot with a dominating performance over very game Ben Ankrah.

Arnaoutis came out fast, bouncing on his toes and using his jab to measure up the African Ankrah. The southpaw Arnaoutis began unleashing his vicious left hand early in the third round, but to Ankrah's credit he just kept coming forward. By the middle of the fight it was apparent Arnaoutis was content on boxing and scoring from the outside against his much slower opponent. Arnaoutis connected with some thundering blows throughout the fight, at times rocking Ankrah, but Ankrah was able to make it to the final bell.

After ten rounds of excited action "Mighty" Mike was awarded a well-deserved unanimous decision, winning by scores of 100-90, 100-90, 96-94. Arnaoutis improves his record to 21-2-2, 10KO while Ankrah drops to 19-7-1, 9KO.

          MADDALONE STOPS NELSON IN THRILLER
In the fight of the night Star Boxing's heavyweight Vinny Maddalone (31-4, 22KO) stopped Terrell "Baby Bull" Nelson (8-7, 5KO) in the second round.

Maddalone who has been thrilling boxing fans since he first turned professional, did not disappoint the pro Maddalone crowd as he chose to fight Nelson in a phone booth from the start of the fight. The two exciting heavyweights traded bombs from the get go, each giving as good as they got in the opening round.

At the start of the second round Maddalone jumped all over Nelson as Nelson was still showing the effects of the first round. Maddalone landed enormous over hand rights and left hooks while Nelson laid on the ropes. With Nelson taking severe punishment, the referee jumped in and called a halt to the contest at 0:45 seconds of the second round.
